Build a landmark around the portal out of stone bricks, mark down the chords, go out and locate a fortress, build a cobble road back to the portal, then just sort of freeroam I suppose.
This is why I definitely do prefer smaller close-knit servers that are more based on starting from scratch and advancing a community as a whole, In more crowded servers, I usually have to take to the hills and distant fringes to get that "Start from scratch" type of play style. Since one of my friends is a mod on this one FTB server, I usually am offered a lot of free stuff anyways. But at least i have the option to decline.
I guess my name could be considered unique considering I have never encountered anyone using it before. Therefore not having to use underscores or any of that... But who knows. I usually live on the fringes of civilization on SMP servers, so I only see a few players.
I haven't really noticed much more added challenge, but I did encounter a long running string of them in a mine when I was playtesting. Like I killed one, then had about seven more spawn individually afterwards. But hey, it should be more interesting in the long run. Especially coupled with mods like the Zombie Awareness mod or something.
By the way, it looks like Mine and Blade: Battlegear is getting a revival. I'm not sure if this will affect things here any, but the way shields were described just sort of made me think that the UI system you were thinking of implementing for shields was going to be based on the old battlegear mod.
When you start with this mod is very frustating, the basic things of minecraft change. But is amazing when you discover and craft things. Thanks for the mod!!
Indeed. It certainly does make you appreciate iron a lot more.
Hm... Lets see. Minecraft is really a user defined experience that can be played in a variety of ways. As for me, I personally like doing cooperative survival mode with friends as we establish our community, thrive, prosper, and progress through the tiers of crafting. All while playing on hard difficulty with the added challenge of mods like Mo'Creatures, the Invasion mod, and better dungeons, or conquering realms like the Twilight Forest.
Finally a "Favorite" thread rather than a "What do you hate the most" thread.
Lets see, Twilight Forest is definitely my current favorite, since i love having sort of a fairy realm in my game where I can battle kobolds, redcaps, and explore huge towers.
I also have my eyes on the Erebus mod though, and can't wait to see what that looks like later in development.
The only thing I can add to that is that you should always place your torches to the right or left. (depends on which you prefer, most people will only place them on the left and I like putting mine on the right.) This way you always know whether a passage leads you deeper in or out from the mine's entrance. Honestly though, I've never really had a problem with mobs. You just have to learn how to fight them when they pop up. Never get complacent, even in well lit surroundings. That's when they get you.
