Yes, you can get the planetoid maps to work for 1.6
One: Create the map using the Planetoid Map Generator
Two: Click "Edit Profile" on the new Minecraft Launcher. Under "Version Select", you want to run minecraft as release version 1.0
Three: Start Minecraft, and open the Planetoid Map. Wait for the File to Convert, then exit Minecraft.
Four: Switch Minecraft back to it's current version, and play the map. It should work now.

yeah, im having the same issue. i log into minecraft, and the game works perfectly for about 20 seconds. Then, the framerate will randomly drop to zero, rendering the game unplayable. using a Radeon x1400 graphics card, thinking it might be a glitch. hope it gets fixed soon.
