Yeah, no it doesn't. Because the Alpha is currently only using 92MB of memory and it's choppy as hell for me.

That would be 100% of what it claims is allocated to it. So yes, you need a way to allocate more.

So infdev/Alpha has never run well for me. Indev and creative are fine, save for the fact that I've never once been able to load a Huge-sized map. Those just hang at the loading screen.

Been twiddling with settings to see what could be the problem. I'm on XPSP2 (2 or 3), got a C2D (2.18GHz per), 3 gigs of RAM, a GeForce 9500GT... and single player alpha is just a low-FPS nightmare for me. Like it's not quite unplayable, but it may as well be. I just messed around for 5-10 minutes and my eyes are all kinds of messed up from how jerky it was. And I don't quite get this, as I've jumped into a multiplayer alpha map once and it ran far smoother. Rather confusing.

One thing I noticed when I turned on the FPS counter, is that the game is only using 92MB of RAM for some reason. I'm not entirely sure why. Checking the Virtual Memory, it's set to allow 1.5GB of RAM. The downloaded version uses a gig of RAM... but the in-game counter still says it's only using 92/93MB. Not sure what THAT means, but there you go.

I've tried multiple browsers, to varying results. Opera just kept freezing on me, Chrome have some kind of seizure any time java tried loading. I'm using the final version of Firefox 2.x because I hate what 3.x did with a few things. But I did upgrade long enough to test Minecraft out and it had the same kind of loading problems Opera and Chrome did. Java's up to date, video drivers are up to date, so I have no idea what's throttling the amount of RAM the program's allowed to use. Anyone have any guesses? I'd really, really like to play the game I bought, but it seems to be doing everything in its power to prevent that. :Skeleton:
