Thanks for the replies guys, here is the deal.
I make the workbench then I drag it into my inventory like something would if I had picked it up off of the map.
And when I right-click it, it just picks it up, like usual.
So I think it might be my mouse, ill have to go to the store and look for a wireless left-click right-click mouse.
=(
Oh god, I finally get it now. He's trying to right click it while it's in his inventory. Christ.
Yeah, what LuciferZ said. You have to put it into one of your block slots (the 9 on the bottom), exit the inventory, then place the block just like any other block. Then right click it in the actual world to use it.
Quick idea, have the player loose half a heart for cutting down a tree with his hands and make it take much longer to complete the task. That way the player has more incentive to use an axe.
That was part of the reason I came up with this kind of idea. It seemed like there needed to be some incentive to using an axe, aside from speed. Since wood is kind of a central resource, along with stone, making it so easy to obtain as bashing your open palm into a tree seemed trivial to me.
just a waste of time really. If this was implemented instead of just generating the level and getting right into the action, you have to waste several minutes tearing up your spawn house. Every time you play. That would get old so fast.
Edit: and something else I thought of: this idea would greatly limit your freedom to go and do what you like when you spawn. Instead of being free to run to the opposite end of the map and set up a base there right away, you will now have to get wood from your spawn house first, which is annoying.
Very good points. I suppose I never thought of it on an annoyance sort of scale. Just sort of a random idea that popped into my head when I was playing.
"But this is a silly idea, Cheeze. Who in their right mind would think to chip away at their house for resources?"

Having the player take apart the one thing they have for protection at night would be stupid.
Yes. Thank you for repeating me. Again, it's not taking it apart. Matter of fact, they could use the leftover blocks to cover over the original opening.

Thank you for your intensely useful contribution to this discussion. Your comment is duly noted.
Maybe. Either that or you start out with a cheap hatchet. Enough to cut down one (1) average sized tree, which is about five (5) blocks.
But that misses the point entirely. The point is to get people to think outwardly, not have all their tools laid out in front of them. This is Survival, not a workbench.
Now now, before you all start shouting "TROLL TOPIC" etc., hear me out.
I KNOW. In order to get the wood, it would require an axe, which would require access to resources you need an axe to obtain, thus creating a vicious circle and ragequit. But stop and think. What are the starter houses made of?
...
That's right, wood. "But Cheeeeze, I can't sabotage my first safe haven." You don't have to. A total of 32 wooden blocks can be obtained just by shaving off the edges of the house, still leaving all the actual walls intact. "But this is a silly idea, Cheeze. Who in their right mind would think to chip away at their house for resources?" But that's exactly the point. This move would encourage outward thinking, and help the player get accustomed to doing whatever it takes to survive.
Has anyone noticed how you can destroy the wall behind the painting and then jump through them (obviously the 2x2 ones) and use them as secret passageways?
Really? I would've thought they'd act like torches, and when the block they're on is destroyed, so are they. Either way, that's awesome. Oh, possibilities.
The registry is a collection of settings and other tidbits that windows uses to operate and boot up. Python may not have written it's settings into the registry properly.
Okay, that makes a bit of sense. So I tried re-installing Python 2.6.4 to see if it would work then. It didn't. Is there any chance that it has something to do with the fact I'm on a 64 bit operating system? (Win7)
First up is a bug fix release. There are some annoying bugs in the game at the moment (water, mostly), and some other things could use some tweaking (SIX wheat for a bread!?). I will try to add some neat toy or so in this release.

I suppose, but then how would we get wood planks?

It feels really awesome to see such good art for Minecraft. Like it's finally getting some real recognition.

Also, I cleaned mine up and framed it. Pretty. :3

I think that's all of them.
EDIT: Yep, counted 20.
EDIT2: Wait darn, I have a duplicate picture in there. Oh well, Zetterstrand's site says there's only 19 anyway.
