I would love to play this mod since I saw some pretty interesting Let's Plays about it, but unfortunately it doesn't run. I tried installing it like any other mod and it simply don't work and after that I tried it with Magic Launcher 0.9.9, but it just says that there are "no mods found". I also googled that, but the video tutorial and some other things that user suggested didn't worked for me. Help please?
This isn't a mod.. It's a map... Notice how it's in the 'maps' section.
hmm for items... full chest of copper full chest of tin full chest of leather and wool uhh some circuits and like 15 stacks of iron
That's kind of along the lines of what I'm thinking. I want the items available to make mining unnecessary, but the players still have to craft everything. Kind of like a race to nuclear warfare.
That would be great, actually. I've got a good amount of things on my plate right now. I'll send you a pm here soon with some details. Perhaps if I'm not too busy we can set up a skype call, or even a server, just to get a feel for what I'm going for.
Thanks for showing some interest. If anyone else would like to help build, test, or just give some ideas, please feel free to do so. I'm planning on doing a trailer video to put up on my youtube channel. So, anyone who helps out can get a nice shout out, or maybe even make an appearance on a partnered gaming channel. Anyone with their own youtube channels are welcome!
Not much to report. Finished 3 out of 6 bases and currently working on the 4th. Screens coming soon.
Also; trying to build an item liist for each base to start out with. I want it to be at least the essentials. If anyone has any ideas on what would be good, please feel free to post a reply. Please note that each base will be outfitted with the same items so that it's fair to all teams.
Hey there! Just uploaded the first let's play for your map! My buddy and I had a lot of fun playing it. I decided to chop up the footage instead of just showing all of it. There were some technical difficulties throughout the playthrough, so I'm lucky I got what I did.. Sorry for the lack of a good intro, but I made sure to give credit in the description of the video.
Introducing a PvP style map made for the Voltz Pack (available through the Technic Launcher). Join your friends (and enemies) to explore and conquer this hand-made, Risk-esque world; where you'll be utilizing the new pack of mods including Atomic Science, Universal Electricity, and Mekanism, to name a few; harnessing the awesome power of the ICBM (Inter-continental Ballistic Missiles) Mod; and, ultimately laying waste to all who threaten your quest for world domination!
Right, so with the intro out of the way; I'll get right down to it. This is my first real attempt at creating any kind of playable map with the intent of uploading it for others to play. I've played plenty of maps myself throughout the years, and I've always had a yearning to make an awesome map. After playing around with some of the mods in the Voltz pack, namely ICBM; I wanted to have a fun game of nuclear warfare with friends. What better way to do that then to build a map specifically with that mechanic in mind? Exactly. So, here we are.
Basic Premise
The map is centered on a world split into six biomes, or 'territories". Imagine a Risk board where the six continents are territories. From here, the idea is simple. Claim all six territories for yourself. The mods available in the Voltz pack give an interesting twist. Instead of commanding armies and rolling dice, you'll be lobbing missiles at each other. Now, somewhere in each territory is a structure of some sort equipped with materials, and such; just to speed up the game. Ores, simple machines (or at least most of the makings for), simple generators, some food, and low tier tools and armor. This is just so that whether you settle in to your new territorial structure, or choose to raid another territory; it's up to you. Without having to spend a large portion of time on starting out and mining for the rudimentary stuff, the focus is put on the task of building up your territory to be capable of withstanding enemy attacks, as well as be on the offense.
Special Features & Ideas and Such
Starting point including command blocks to tp players/teams to their respective territory
The map can be played with 2 to 18+ players (depending on how many are in a team. I wouldn't suspect any more than three in a team, unless some of you crazy bastards out there want to run a giant game, that would be sweet)
Teams choose their territory by choosing one of six names; each territory's name will have absolutely nothing to do with anything about that territory; that is to say, a territory located primarily in dessert wouldn't be called "Dessert something or other", more like "Balmira", or something like that; stand in corresponding tp zones, and press buttons, or perhaps stand on pressure plates.. Haven't worked that part out yet
Each territory will have it's own banners, displayed in spawn area and territory structures
Each structure will vary in size, complexity, and functionality; all initially, of course, and for different reasons
Each structure and location has it's own advantages and disadvantages; it's up to the players to find out what they are and how to use them (these might be open for interpretation)
Each structure will also be outfitted with a healthy dose of lore and back story; not so much designed to progress forward into some kind of story line, but more so just to be collected and to perhaps serve as an explanation of the 'state of things', so to speak, of each structure being inhabited
Building onto the original structures is encouraged
To take a territory, the attacking territory must completely burn or destroy the defending territory's banner; the attackers then must put their own banner up to claim their spoils; however, let's say you destroy their banner via missile, hundreds of blocks away (YES YOU CAN DO THAT) and you don't put your banner up, they have a chance to rebuild their banner and keep their territory
If your team owns multiple territories, and you lose all but one territory, you're still in it; even if the remaining territory isn't the first territory you start at; as long as you have a banner up, you're still in
Losing your only banner means defeat
Besides player commands, and spawning in/giving items, anything goes; NEI recipe mode allowed
Alliances, espionage, tactical, and all around shady behavior is encouraged
Feel free to let me know what you guys think. Do you think it would be fun?
I'll be keeping you posted on new developments as soon as I can.
*How long have you been playing Minecraft?
I honestly can't remember when I really started playing. I remember hearing about it while it was still in alpha, via message board, but I'm pretty sure I actually got my hands on it (for lack of a better phrase) while it was early to mid beta.
*Favorite Adventure Map?
I never really messed with player-made maps until after I started my youtube channel, but recently Dreams of Icarus simply blew me away conceptually. As far as actual "adventuring" goes, it's hard to say because there are a good number of them that I would recommend playing.
*Favorite Video Game? (other than Minecraft)
That's a tough one, so I'll just go by time spent. That said, It's a toss up between Morrowind and pretty much any one of the Final Fantasy's, pre-X, mind you. With maxing out the play clock on every Final Fantasy I've played, I think you get the idea..
*Why Should I Pick You?
Although I hate to boast, I am an experienced gamer. I know the ins-and-outs of video games and I know how to properly critique any aspect of something video game related.
*Any thing you think I should know about you?
If you haven't noticed already, I am quite articulate by nature. I believe that I would be able to fully get a point across regarding something of this nature. That is to say, I would be able to give both positive and negative feedback with out being either too eccentric or douchey (again, for lack of a better phrase), respectively.
Despite my earlier comment, my friend was adamant enough to talk me into playing the map. But my suggestion still stands for future projects (which I hope there are).
Based on the screenshots, I would really like to do a series on this map. However, your use of the notes does keep me from doing this. Taking a brief look, it appears the differentiation between the notes and the books in-game is simply narrative vs. dialogue. If this isn't the case, forgive me. As I said, it was a brief look. However, if this is in fact true, why not just include all text in-game? It would make it a lot easier for people, as well as not break any on-screen action for people making videos.
Either way, it's just a suggestion. But, I can say that if you were to implement this, I would definitely do a series.
