I have seen a few posts like this, they use different key words. I agree MineCraft needs a player light source, and I think a Miner's Helmet is the best way to do it.
I've read somewhere that Notch isn't going to do it though because of the coding demands or slowing down the game or some other issues I didn't understand, but I think it's essential.
Occasionally (I'm not sure what triggers it) a movement key gets locked on (as if it were constantly depressed) and can be undone by hitting the key that is locked. This happens with all 4 movement keys and the jump key.
I have a sneaky suspicion it might be triggered with entering or exiting sneak (shift key). This is a simular issue to sometimes being locked into movement when opening a chest or furnace or other interface.
I apologize if this has already been mentioned; the search bar in the forums is not working for me and I didn't turn up any simular articles with Google.
