posted a message on Introductions & Leavings

    For sake of posterity...

I had fun here once, I think; it's been so long ago now.

It's been obvious that this game and it's community are in their twilight years.

But for me, this Twitch thing is the straw that broke the camels back.

I've enjoyed playing Minecraft for nearly eight years of my life to varying degrees. A lot of history there.

It's a shame to see things go like this, but I suppose once something grows so big, the only way it can hope to die is with a demeaning, long goodbye.

I'll sit back and watch; but I know what's coming.

Not that I've really posted in the last long while anyway. Sucks to finally call it quits though.

    Bye, kids.

If you like conspiracy spy thriller games, you may enjoy Alpha Protocol. 3rd person action game with some stealth and rpg elements, feels like a video game version of a Jason Bourne movie.

Been on ye olde Steam wishlist for a little while now, actually. I keep missing when it drops to a few bucks on sale. :/

Giving the conspiracy muscles a good workout.

Just finished playing through Deus Ex: Human Revolution (DC, of course). I'm one mission in to DX: Mankind Divided, then I'll be on my way to original Deus Ex (probably going to play Revision instead of the true original), then it's on to DX: Invisible War if I can get it to run.
Meanwhile I'm on like season 7 of re-watching The X-Files for the nth time. Then I'll maybe re-visit Person of Interest(?)...

posted a message on How can I copy and paste 4.6 million blocks successfully with world edit

    That's a lot of blocks...
    A. You could divide your world into smaller sections and copy it piece by piece.

    B. World edit isn't very optimized for massive operations like that. You might try using something like MCEdit, but I haven't used that in ages so I can't say how it might perform, if any better.

posted a message on In-Game NBTEdit! Edit Mob Spawners & Attributes in game! FINALLY UPDATED!

Good question @BuRRak. I know Forge's in beta and 1.12's still fresh off the presses, but I'd also love to see this updated.

If I still had my Java tools installed I'd fork it (again) on Github and take a shot at maintaining / upgrading it... Not that Java is my first language; I'm more of a C++ / lua kind of guy.

I get the feeling this isn't a very popular mod, so I can understand if Jay / Davidee can't devote the time to maintaining it.

    Final server update:
    Edit: snip

I really, really, hate saying this, but the Corner Stone server will be shutting down until further notice effective immediately.

    Sorry, guys.

If anyone's interested I can send the world files from the server, just let me know here or in a private message and I'll send it to you.

Why is it only a measure for America when there's so many forms of english dialect around the world. This is a whole new level of white-washing!

    You're kidding, right? Who cares?
By the way, you forgot to capitalize 'English,' how disrespectful!

Oh wow, never heard of that until now. 'Conflicting with the internet itself' sounds a bit extreme, but I can see the issue. Not particularly my field of expertise to discuss.

What about the other popular one. I believe Evolve was the name? Aside form it trying to reinvent Steam, I don't see why that wouldn't be a viable alternative.

Anyhow, hosting a server is always preferable to doing LAN games when possible.

You have two really easy options that don't involve a hosting service.

    1. LAN can work. You can use a program like Logmein Hamachi (which is free and fairly light on your system) to make a virtual LAN network over the internet. This means that, after you and your friend install Hamachi and join the same network, he will see your LAN game whenever he looks at his multiplayer servers list.

    2. A veritable plethora of guides exist in every corner of the internet that can show you how to host a Minecraft server. When it comes to setting up a simple vanilla server, it takes virtually no effort, and once you've done it the server won't take much coddling afterward aside from game updates and making world save backups if you choose to do so.

But hey, you could disregard all that and just pay a few bucks a month for a host... It's up to you and your wallet.

posted a message on Why doesn't this work anymore?

If a water source is close enough to a hole it will flow directly to the hole instead of spreading evenly. I don't recall when that was added...

You might try retrofitting your design to look something like this.

Bats. They might add ambience and help find nearby caves, but all they do is get in the way when I'm trying to build underground.

Also skeleton traps. I've had at least 10 spawn right next to my house since I built it not too long ago. I swear the place is cursed.

Baby Zombies. I never thought about it but yeah. Those little squirts are super annoying; fast and hard to hit and charging at me is always a pain. Kinda like Vexes, but at least they're meant to do that...

posted a message on having hard time with the stairs tool

You have to be looking at the stairs from the right angle.

They will face whatever direction you are facing when you place them. If your cross hair is looking at the top half of the block then the stairs will be upside down when you place them, if you're looking at the bottom half the stairs will be right side up.

Also, if you place a stair looking at another stair you can make stair corners.

Check the wiki for a better explanation.

Apologies for the ~2 hour downtime earlier, had a fan go out on the server rig and needed to install a new one. I decided to add an additional fan to the case while I had it open today, but the cable management was less cooperative than expected. The rig's running a tad cooler which means I can increase the processor OC if we need extra juice in the future!

I've also added a few warps to the community category. Feel free to suggest more and I'll add them; could help free up some of the homes y'all are using.

    Cheers
