Yesterday I got the 12w21a snapshot which worked very nicely for me other then some glitches. today I downloaded and put it 12w21b. When I started my game, it did the usual updating minecraft , but the loading bar stopped near the end, and it says "Done loading" and the screen is stuck there. It doesn't budge. I switched back to 12w21a and it hasn't worked. I'd haven't gone back to 1.2.5, but if that the only way to fix my game, then that's what I'll do. Any ideas are appreciated.
I like the rarity. The main way to obtain it should always be through trading. It is a currency after all. That said, I think it'd be great if it was mineable in the Nether. It could remain as rare as it currently is in the Overworld, and be much more common in the Nether.
Yeah, I've got two takes on it. One side of me wants to see a new ore that can be found and mined like iron for some variety, but the other side reminds me that emeralds are technically money. So to get masses of it, I've just started making pig farms and wheat farms, and bring in the good to the nearby village and trade it in for money. reminds me of harvest moon, in a way...
That also reminds me of people thinking emerald should be usable for armor and tools. I'm all up for a new ore to use for weapons and armor, but I don't think it should be emerald, because it's primary use is a currency. We don't turn dollar bills into clothes, do we?
I don't know about the rarity, the first cave I ran into had two vein's showing right off the bat fairly close to one another. I'm just happy there is a new ore to hunt down. Long time coming.
Yeah, i'm really glad to see new ore. curious how you found it so quick, too! All I've heard is that it's extremely rare, I'm surprised you found it so quick. I've dug deep, but no avail.
Hello, just though I might say something about the new snapshot.
First off, I can say I really like what its added! I really like the direction they are taking with the currency and villagers and whatnot. But more onto the point, I've noticed that emerald is very difficult to find! This isn't a huge problem, as I have sold villagers things ( Including their own wheat ) so I've been able to stimulate the mini-economy. But I was thrilled to hear of a new ore to mine, as the old ores can get a bit stale after mining a few truckloads of'em, and I like the idea of searching for new ore's down below.
But sadly it seems they are extremely rare, or at least from what I have heard. Just a bit sad that it won't be an easy find, but I suppose it makes sense as purchasing diamonds tools is 7+ emeralds, so it makes sense they aren't abundant. What are your opinions on the rarity? And do you think the official release will tone it down a bit, ( 25 times rarer then diamond and only in certain biomes is a little overkill!) or do you think it's intended to be very rare?
