That tree is located right next to the ocean, so it's possible that a HEROic squid swam up from the BRINEy depths and took a bite out of that tree! -

Colbybro posted a message on Endermen and Adventure Maps(Now, before flaming your heads off, take note that this is not a "ONOZ TEH ENDERMEN WLL RUIN TEH GAM WAAAAH THEY NED 2 B REMOVD" Thread, it's a logical discussion on how the new mob will affect adventure maps. If this is in the wrong section, an admin can move it.)Posted in: Discussion
By now, all of us are familiar with the Endermen/Farlanders. The first thing that jumped into my mind when I saw the picture, though, was this: "How will they affect adventure maps?" I am a small-time adventure mapper myself, but I have never put any up for download, probably because they are too small to be appreciated and I don't trust mediafire/megaupload/adf.ly. I have come up with a small list of pros/cons on how they will affect adventure maps.
PROS
1. Obviously, the horror factor. Imagine entering a massive dungeon full of endermen. They all turn to stare at you...Yep, pretty exciting.
2. Considering their behavior, they almost could be used as evil villagers. Not to mention spying around the endermen's hometown with a pumpkin on your head, assuming, of course, that we are correct about the pumpkins hiding you from the endermen.
CONS
1. Although we don't know much about their behavior yet, they might go about destroying structures. One thing to note, though, is that they have only been seen carrying sand/grass, so it might be that they do not have the ability to carry stronger blocks. If this is so, the only problem we have is that they might be able to carry clay, which is a universal hiding block. I highly doubt that we won't be able to find a replacement for clay, though (Possibly wool?).
Go ahead and post your ideas for pros/cons. -

SoopaMushroom posted a message on The Story of the EndermenThe Legend of the EndersPosted in: Arts & Creativity
In the time before Steve, there were...the Enders. Beings of vast intelligence, and even greater power, their cities stretched across the world, down into the depths of the earth, and up into the skies, scraping the heavens. The gods of Minecraft had truly gifted these creatures, but the Enders, in all of their might, became bored with their dominance, and began to crave more than what they were given. They wanted to join the gods in their realm, and rule over the creatures of the world. But the gods denied them this great privilege. Infuriated, the Ender’s hubris would ultimately spell their doom.
The peaceful beings, that once protected the docile pigs and cows of the land, turned on them. they slaughtered creatures by the masses and stole their life essence in an effort to gather the power to cross into the gods’ realm. The pure beings started to change, and became corrupted...The glow they once had turned to darkness, and the vibrant abyss of their eyes faded to white.
The abandoned streets of their cities were becoming stained with the blood of the innocent. The remaining Enders soon left them in search of power themselves. After the animals had left the plains, the Enders turned to the forests and began to steal the life from the trees themselves. Blinded by the power they craved, the Enders took no heed to the changes they were going through. Their bodies became stretched and turned vile. Then they wandered the deserts that they once tended to as lively groves for decades. The Ender's horrid bodies became weak as the animals were pushed to extinction, and the trees were all but gone from the world.
They began to fall by the hundreds. Their bodies, buried over the years, released the energy they'd stolen from the world in the form of blue minerals. These precious vessels of power were lost and inearthed under miles of rock and dirt over the millennia. All the while, their great cities crumbled, and turned to dust. But now, as the life has just began to return to the land, the evil of the Ender's corruption has resurrected the dead, and corrupted the animals. Zombies and Skeletons roam the abandoned grounds of their unknown masters, taking life, just as the Enders did...long, long ago.
But the time for Enders to return has come. They are rebuilding their cities, attempting to join the gods again. And just as the light of life has begun to flicker once more, the Enders are returning to extinguish it as they nearly did so long ago. They are returning to claim the power they feel is their destiny to posses.
The Tale of the Fallen Gods
Enders…statuesque creatures of great intelligence and power. They built cities that spanned the world, temples that caught the eyes of gods, and marvels of science. Just before the Ender’s downfall, they attempted to join the gods in their realm. But to do that they needed to construct the portal to that realm. The portal to the realm of the gods is very unique, in that it requires materials from its opposite realm…the Nether. Unknown to the Enders, the gods had blessed them…and in doing so, cursed them. No blessed beings may enter the Nether, that is the law, set in Holystone, and enforced by the mighty Valkyrie. With the Enders unable to join the gods, they became enraged and began their epic downfall into corruption. Meanwhile, the gods had their own turmoil to face.
The Aether, the throne of the gods, a place of celestial brilliance and now…fierce battles. Before all of the death and violence, there was peace and unity. All the gods ruled their own part of the universe. When the Enders wished to join the gods, some wanted to welcome them into the Aether, and others did not. After countless debates and arguments, the Sun God was the first to take action. In The Hall of The Gods, he set all of his enemies ablaze, and then war broke out. Under the eye of the eternal sun, no one could hide from the Sun God, and many fell to the holy fire. The only survivors of the war of the gods were the lowly guardians of the former thrones of few gods. The Valkyrie Queen, along with hundreds of Valkyrie soldiers retreated to the Silver temples in search of safety from the Sun God. Driven mad by power, and paranoid of future revolt, the Sun God locked himself away beneath the golden groves. With no god left to tend to the Overworld, the Enders and all other creatures perished and fell to the corruption of power. Humans have spawned in the Overworld, and some have even entered the Aether. Summoned back to existence by hatred and jealousy, the Enders are returning to torment humans, and destroy the God that denied them their destiny.
This is what I do when I'm extremely bored over summer break. Rationalize the existence of fictitious monsters in a video game. -

Destric posted a message on Do you ever come out to see the sunrise?Every morning in the Land of Minecraftia is possibly the most beautiful sight a man-of-blocks could ever see. As the sun rises, the beasts and demons of the world go into hiding, as the creatures of our world return to harmony, flocking together in packs, in order to resume and preserve the natural order of Minecraftia. The whole world seems to rejoice in the sunrise of the land, the most beautiful thing that could ever be seen, as the blocky sun rises into the sky, a beacon of hope.Posted in: Discussion - To post a comment, please login.
