While I would love to submit your name for membership consideration, one of our rules is that all applicants must have a thread for their texture pack. Please reapply when you have a thread for your pack (which should hopefully come when you feel your pack is ready for a thread, not solely in response to this message).
Also, feel free to post here even if you are not a member.
Oops, didn't see that you had to have a thread!
Anyway, I've been lurking here for such a long time that I feel like I know all of you, but almost none of you know me.
Please criticize my textures! Also, I am aware that the iron ore has very low contrast, and the diamond ore is currently just recolored emerald, I will change that once I figure out how to make good diamond ore.
Sep 8, 2012I would like to join the union for a Gold emblem, as I have been working on a texture pack, and would like to get some protection for it for when it's done. I hope I have enough of it done that I will be accepted in to the union. Here is a screenshot of all my completed blocks (The pack is 24x):Posted in: Resource Pack Discussion
Blocks: (From left to right) Side grass and dirt, Stone, Iron, Gold, Redstone, Emerald, Diamond, Lapis, Mossy Cobble, and Cobblestone. I haven't completed topgrass, that's why it just looks like ugly, resized default topgrass.
And my canvas, including palettes, and alternate textures.
Please consider me for the union even though I don't have that many blocks done, or a download yet.
(Wait, are you allowed to post here if you're not a member?)

Do you have a thread for this?
I wanna go give you a +1
Sorry, I discontinued it, I never made a thread for it either.
Edit: Actually if you like it that much I could think about continuing it

Next time, make your own palette. It usually looks better.
I found out that I'm horrible at making my own palette, the colors end up looking really bad together. I really like this one, I use it for almost everything.

Looks good! What palette did you use?
Also, 257x pack for the win! Or maybe a 7x pack...
Here's the palette I used, I added one or two colors for the stone and grass, they're not on here.

I understand that, but I've always had one problem with that kind of shading on stone. It's just flat... flat... flat... WOAH NOW IT'S ALL SHINY AND FACING A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DIRECTION, BETTER WATCH OUT.
Midgrounds, as in the middle grounds between 16x and 32x.
I don't really know how to fix that, dithering it too much would just look bad.
Ah, the name makes sense now, I like it.

I like it, i really dig that style.
However, the ores need to be pronounced more, they just blend in too much, try adding more shadows/embedding around them.
The stone, stone brick and cobble need some brightness/color variation.
I will work a bit more on the ores next time I work on textures. Brightness/color variation would end up being very drastic and would not look good, because I'm using a limited palette. It only has so many shades of each color.

This is really nice. I would definitely use this when it's released.
It won't be released for a long time, I'm not good at making textures very quickly at all.

Like I won't stop saying, 24x is beautiful.
I do have to say, your stone texture looks more like round cobblestone than natural stone, though. The lighting isn't right for natural stone, I don't think.
EDIT: You could maybe name it Midgrounds.
Like I said before, there aren't really enough shades of each color to have natural looking shading.
Also, cool name, but could you please explain it?

Though I'm confused... what resolution is is actually 32x, or does MCPatcher have support for unorthodox resolutions?
If it's 32x, does that mean not all the pixels are equal?
Thank you for the compliment! I think MCPatcher either scales up the textures or just keeps them as is somehow.

my, this is absolutely beautiful. could you provide some ingame screenshots?
Consider me interested for making a 24x pack, it's evenly divisible by 2, and that's all I need. Not to mention it's divisible by 3.
There are in game screenshots in a spoiler at the bottom of the OP. I fully encourage you to make a 24x pack, it's very fun to play around with.
