I've been reading a lot of Homestuck recently and even though I know there's been MANY MANY topics on this, I simply have to bring this up again.
In the world of Homestuck, there's four lands. I won't get into that, but I'll post a link at the end that will explain in more detail. In each of the lands, there's a Denizen, a huge monster that is terrorizing the land. Which made me think, what if you could do that but with Biomes and maybe even The Nether?
Obviously not every Biome would have a Denizen, that's silly. But what if there was a special type of Biome that was not only incredibly large but special not only in that aspect? For instance, a Forest Biome. Some of those are already incredibly big, but what about an ever LARGER forest and right in the middle of it all is an incredibly large tree? Maybe inside there could hold the Denizen, or could even BE it. The Denizens would obviously have to relate to the Biomes, so pretty much giant Creeper Kings are out...Maybe.
Giant oceans would NEED to have The Kraken, or at least a Squid-like monster, like Cthulhu. Maybe there's 3 random monsters that would randomly be chosen? That would be nice especially if there were multiple Denizen Biomes in your map, it wouldn't be the exact same and have the exact same way to beat it, and drop the exact same things.
For The Nether, hmm. If you've played Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker then you'll know what I'm talking about, but on the level Dragon Roost Island, the boss is a very large insect that lives in a large pool of lava inside a Volcano. I really can't explain it. Just watch the video.
So either a boss like that, or maybe just a giant Ghast, or no boss at all. And, like Denizens, would only appear in certain areas of the Nether, and, like the Denizens, would have multiple forms so it's not like you fight the "Big Bad Named Guy" but then he comes back to life somehow and fights you over and over and over again.
Notch probably won't look at this, and even if he is he probably won't implement it, but I just need to vent some ideas.
Maybe instead of it being always like the normal world, why not have scripted events?
Say you go to sleep. You are standing in a field. You can't move. You can only look around, and you look behind yourself and there's nothing there, but then there's a HUGE CREEPER, as in like, hitting the sky limit high. He stomps over to you and you can move now, but you're incredibly slow. When he gets to you there's a long "SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" then a giant "BOOM" and everything goes white, then you wake up.
Oh, and for the remainder of the day Creepers spawn at 50% higher rates in caves, and a 10% chance to spawn in daylight, where you're not looking.
So basically, stuff like nightmares and certain dreams that may or may not change your real game experience. It would be fun to have, like, 50 pigs in your house at once in the dream, and wake up to find a pig wandering next to you when you get out of bed.
Hey guys. I was JUST playing Minecraft because of the update, and while I was playing I heard a cave ambiance sound. But, it was INCREDIBLY FAINT, short, and wasn't coming from a direction. I was twisting all around to find the direction it was coming from, but it was just the same. I just shrug it off.
Next thing I know I'm on the forums and I find this. Let's just say that I don't like scary things and this is definitely Fridge Horror for me.
Hey bros, Capt here. Me and another bro decided to make a Journal of our adventures in the new Halloween update. We'll try to update at least semi-daily...Maybe. If we feel like it.
Think Game Overthinker, but better. Although it wasn't much of a large shoutout, it's still something. People will watch the videos and think "Hey, what's that?" And go ahead and search it up.
Considering this is an Alpha, and Notch has a self-imposed deadline, it may end up where newly generated biomes don't even match the landscape of what they're next to, so you may end up with half a mountain generated next to a flat plain, where it looks like someone took two worlds and just glued them together. Or maybe Notch is good at what he does (which wouldn't be surprising) and he'll have things looking natural still.
I doubt it's going to look like that. What he's probably going to do is have a set hitbox around the biome. So, like a mountain, it will have a VERY LARGE Hitbox, surrounding the mountain itself and a large stretch of land around it. It will only place down the biome if there's no pre-loaded chunks inside the hitbox, making it seamlessly go from Castle to Field-you-explored to Field-near-mountain to Mountain.
(PARAGRAPH)Dude wow u dont get anything he was talking bout ghosts in real life hurp a durp he dsnt always (PARAGRAPH)have to talk about the game.

You DO realize he was talking about real life, right?
He doesn't ALWAYS talk about the game. Plus, when is anything in the game real? Last I checked, there weren't zombies, skeletons and exploding penises terrorizing miners.
When did either of them ever mention real life?

Your opinion was invalid the moment you typed the fourth paragraph.
Is this sarcasm? My sarcasm detector is malfunctioning.

Explanation on Denizens are here.
Opinions?
TL;DR: Learn to read, or you won't get far in life, kiddo.

Nope. No sarcasm here.
