I noticed the text box says #null. Normally the text is scrambled if it's locked but he texture is there (albeit buggy) so I wasn't sure if this was a lang bug. Thanks!

posted a message on Forge Version for modding

I don't think I will have to update to 1.8. I have seen many developers that say they will wait for 1.9. And "all the good mods" aren't the ones that I want to play with. My mod is also meant to be used in modpacks so I want to be able to stay with the majority for now. Especially when I can look at other people's mods for ideas. I was thinking on using an earlier forge version in 1.7 because of how mods built on much earlier versions of forge don't work with the newest, but after speaking with another modder I think I will use 1448 because of how much I will be doing with fluids.

I've compiled all of my educational resources to begin writing my first mod. I'm curious if anyone has any ideas of which forge version might be best to chose. I know there was a change with fluids in 1355+, and several mods don't work with each other because of different forge versions. Which version would be compatible with the most number of mods? And if a later version has other benefits, regardless of compatibility, which features would make it worth it?

    Speaking of HLSA Steel.

Reika, it is my understanding that silicon is an impurity that is left in steels because it is too expensive to remove, is there any reason you use sand (silica) to the furnace in steel production given I thought that the idea would be to remove silicon from the metal which is why Molybdenum is added (I think, could be Niobium). If you could explain to a studying materials engineer that would be cool.

Zemerick answered it well. SiO2 coats the metal and can be removed during the slagging process. Normally it can be removed (though expensively for lower quality ores) during benefaction (crushing) and then slag removal. It was common in history to leave silica in as the casting didn't shrink as much. I'm not sure as to why Molybdenum would be used to remove silica as normally the density differences between iron and silica minerals are the target property to separate the two. This was an interesting resource on iron ore impurities.

HSLA steels vary from other steels in that they are not made to meet a specific chemical composition but rather to specific mechanical properties.

    From The Other Wiki :-p

As for you Reika, I think he might want the SAE grade you intended for your steel.

Yes you are correct, I'm looking for which SAE grade he intended. HSLA may be designed for it's strength (especially needed in shafts like RoC), but once the desired strength has been discovered, the composition is recorded and can be repeated. I already have mechanics for obtaining and adding the necessary Carbon, Manganese, Copper, Titanium, Vanadium, Niobium, Silicon, Tin, Chromium, Phosphorous, Zirconia, Calcium, and can add any of the rare earth elements that are occasionally alloyed in if Reika wants to go that far. HSLA won't even be the most complex alloy I add, but I want to add every mod's ores and alloys and HSLA is the most complex alloy that another mod adds I think.

I'm making a mod involving world generation, chemistry, and mineral processing and I wanted to add hsla steel. I know there is the issue that other mod's steels aren't up to par with hsla, but my mod would make steel even harder to produce than RoC. So I'm curious what "grade" RoC hsla steel is presumed to be? So I could have the proper ratios of alloying elements to make my steel compatible with yours.

Some text on the ElectriCraft Handbook is out of bounds. Not a major issue. Thanks for the update reika!

How do you transmit RC and ReC fluids across dimensions? Deuterium doesn't have a liquid block form so how could an ME output bus select those fluids? Thermal dynamics pipes seem to have the same issue.

Could extra cells fluid export buses put liquid nitrogen into toroid magnets? If not what would be some efficient ways to keep the toroids full?

I have a shaft power bus hooked up with lubricant and plenty of power. Shaft units in the sides that are connected to the fractionalization units pictures. The controller only shows 1 device connected though. Any thoughts?

I got a crash when powering an RoC autocrafter. I used BC pipes to connect it instead of AE, but the crash references it. Thanks.

Bug report: Chromaticraft flowers aren't spawing in RWG worlds. And Harvestcraft trees. Also can the actual river be set to river biomes along with the sides being Oasises? Thanks:D

Praise: The BoP support is amazing. And the rivers too. It is awesome that the rivers get narrower as they pass through deserts.

Could there be a rock added by Geostrata that depends on Reactorcraft to be present. Have it be trinitite which is created when a nuclear reactor explodes by sand. Have it be cut like Geostrata rocks, but be slightly radioactive :D
