Hello I am having troubles with BTB. Every time I place a spout in a world and save and quit then reload the world it makes my video drivers VERY unhappy, so unhappy that it stops working for a second and recovers. When I run MC patcher it says this "Warning: Texture /btbmodtex/btbterrain01.png not preloaded, will cause render glitches!"

    Here's the error report:

    MCPatcher version is 2.3.1_01

You seem to be using the 1.0 version of Modloader MP. Don't know if that's your problem or not, just pointing it out.

    [**** NEW RELEASE ****]

Version 2.00 of Better Then BuildCraft is ready for download!

    Download Link

This release contains the following changes:

-Updated the mod to version 1.1 of Minecraft.

-Changed Spout so that it can no longer output water when in the nether, and added particle effects and sounds to indicate as much.

-Changed water source blocks to not be consumed by pumps when Hardcore Buckets mode is enabled.

-Changed Hardcore Bucket mode so that lava may no longer be collected in a bucket to avoid exploits involving using it as a fuel. Attempting to do so will result in the player taking damage.

-Changed the version numbering scheme for the mod to avoid confusion with the current versions of Minecraft.

-Changed the way Hardcore Buckets mode is initialized to make sure it is properly disabled if it is turned off in the BTB config file, regardless of the setting in the BTW one.

-Fixed problem with Spouts being able to create water source-blocks when used in combination.

    Enjoy! :smile.gif:

Great! Now I can play 1.1 with BTW! (and BTB, obviously)

Awesome stuff man! Thanks for sharing that one, as it's very gratifying to see people really start to make use of the combined functionality :smile.gif:

Yup! Almost done with the breeding one, which I'll hook up to a dung farm, too. I'm just getting to this stage in my main world (made my first detector block using a redstone eye today) so soon I can put this in my main world. For now, creative!

Also, I used BC + BTW (+ IC2) back in 1.7.3, and I missed not being able to once Forge was dropped. It's nice to be able to use it again, and also nice to figure out HOW to use it, too. I've used BTW since about 1.2, so I've had more time to get used to all the recipes and the tech-tree, while with BC I still don't know what half of the things do. Doing this helps me learn, too, to hopefully improve my contraptions in the future. :smile.gif:

I'm just starting to learn the joys of compactness the BD and Buddy block provide! Especially with the new monostable you 'accidentally' put in, that was helpful testing some circuits. I also learned tons of stuff, since this was the first time I had used the BD as a counter, or even used a Buddy block. Glad I've gotten better, and hope to improve more. I'm looking at the firing station and just waiting to find out how compact that can get compared to the ~5x8 space it takes up now to have two different longer pulses from a turntable. The redstone circuits page on the MC Wiki is now bookmarked.

Well, I finally finished my steel factory using BC. The first version, that is. Here are some quick pictures of what I made.

This is my first attempt at any automation using BTB, and my first large-scale one using BTW, so it was a lot of fun.

Here's an overview of the setup:

On the far left are the grinders for coal and netherrack, which get sent off to the crucible behind it/to the soul imbuing stage.

At the bottom right is the clay making station, which is very similar to the one used by finite8 in his video. Here's a picture:

Next up (back right) is the firing station, where the urns are placed by a BD and then sent by water flow through pipes to the soul-imbuing station.

There, the BD places the urns, while ground netherrack floats over a hopper over them. After the urn turns into a soul urn, a buddy block detects the update and tells the BD and piston to set the chain up again. The soul urn is sent to the crucible to be made into steel.

    And that's that!

    Known Issues/Bugs:
    - The water flow at the firing station isn't long enough, and some urns get caught in the side.
    - Some clay balls get lost at the clay-making station
    - Compact the pipes and redstone A LOT MORE.

    To-Do:
    - Add a auto charcoal farm so that the factory no longer requires coal.
    - Add a kiln to smelt iron ore from ingots.

BTW is not Happy Fun Time and it wont be until you stop intentionally making it incompatible with everything else.
just like you intentionally do that i will intentionally tell a search engine NOT better than wolfs
If you want to make your own stand-alone then make your own video game but don't make a mod for Minecraft a stand-alone

What the **** does this even mean?

    [*** NEW RELEASE ***]

Version 1.03 of Better Then BuildCraft is ready for download!

    Download Link

This release contains the following changes:

-Fixed a problem in 1.02 where Steam and Combustion engines could not be powered. This release is mainly intended to solve this issue.

-Changed the BC Pump recipe to use a Waterproof Intake Pipe instead of a Mining Well, to move it to earlier in the tech-
    tree.

-Changed the BC Wooden Gear recipe to use a single BTW Gear. The Wooden Gear is only in BTB to provide support for BC
add-ons that may use it in their recipes, so I made this change to more clearly indicate to the player that it's not part
    of the BTB tech-progression.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for this, however you might want to update the OP unless you're doing that right now.

Also, I seem to be having a crash bug on a world with BC blocks. It's not happening on my world that doesn't have any yet (while it's still installed), but I gave my error in more detail here:

Hmmm, that is an interesting question. A quick bit of research and I noticed that that sort of functionality is planned for the diamond pipe somewhere in the 3.X branch of buildcraft but there isn't an ETA yet. It's listed as a potential feature noted by spacetoad in the buildcraft code tracking site here. It's been pushed back several times, so I wouldn't plan on seeing it any time soon.

Off the top of my head, there might be a workaround. Sadly I don't have the resources in my game to test this yet: Try using a wood pipe to extract everything (make sure to use a slow wood engine; we don't want to be too efficient) and use a diamond pipe to route everything except the soulforged steel back into the crucible.

That's the only idea I have right now, I'll let you know if I find any other methods. Good luck!

Yeah, I thought of that, it's just that my current setup is very crowded and that gets messy. Also, since everything gets pumped out, I don't know if the steel would be made (since enough of all three materials would have to be there to make the steel in the first place. If (for example) the carbon powder kept disappearing, steel would never be made.)

The additional pipes mod can do this, and I've confirmed it's compatible with BTB. It also includes the extremely useful teleport pipes which are very useful for slower computers with complex systems:

You need to use the advanced wooden pipe from this mod to do it.

I will definitely think about this, also because my computer sucks and the teleport pipes would be wonderful. Thanks for the link!

    Quick question:

Is there a way to remove certain items (using BC) from a block with an inventory? If not, that would be good, as right now my factory has to end at the crucible instead of dumping steel into a chest by the front. If there is/could be a pipe type that took only certain items out (similar to a diamond pipe), that would be lovely.

They didn't ask permission because they originally made the modpack just to share among a few friends. They were surprised when the pack got out somehow and then took on a life of its own - it was by accident that the pack proved popular, and the people involved making the pack have been working to give credit where credit is due since then. I don't think any of the bitching about technic is valid at all; a lot of people have severe misunderstandings thanks to a few individuals who blew totally unnecessary drama from it out of proportion.

Also all this has been explained repeatedly, but apparently it didn't take the first hundred times.

If by 'accident' you mean the Yogscast vids, then sure.

Also, if it's been explained repeatedly, why are you bringing it up again?

I seem to be having issues with any form of redstone circuitry and powering the machines, including the Wooden Engine / Pipe setup. All I have installed is the BTB set, and TMI. I tried without TMI and same issues. I know full well that the mod is installed properly, as I actually read the instructions.

Do the BC machines require BTW style power sources (wind / water) in order to function now? Or is this a bug I ran into?

The wooden one (made with a piston + bellows, I think) uses mechanical power, IIRC. I haven't gotten there in my BTW save, but I'm close.

I guess it can fill in till we get as-of-yet-unamed-btw-nether-fluid-replacement I suppose.

Maybe this is the intended Nether transport. Maybe not, but it works for now.

Alright, I am at a loss for why this problem continue to happens. As far as I can tell I have tried every possible option I can think of and yet it still does not work. I am trying to run minecraft with BTW (and eventually a list of other mods I have already tested for compatibility) using the Dokucraft texture pack.

If I just use the standard texture pack and install modloader and BTW, it works just fine.

If I first apply the mcpatcher and then install modloader and BTW, I get a black screen.

If I install any mod (even just modloader) and then use mcpatcher, I get an error saying that I have selected an invalid .jar. It seems I cannot use mcpatcher on any .jar I have modified meaning that I have to patch before I mod.

Please note that I am using a mac.

I believe using Optifine (the correct version) lets you use HD tps, so just use that while using the first method you described.

It's reminiscent of "What do you mean Better Than Wolves? Do you hate wolves? The title is insulting, please change it!"

    Which was just as hilarious.

That still happens, though, which is the best part.
