Either way is acceptable since some barracks were held one unit and some held several. The were several variations through out WWII some like yours, some look like houses, and alot of Quonset huts (the half round buildings)
It looks like people on this site do consider how it was made when they make comments to post here. Opinions of builds seem to based off of survival/creative and genuine/edited.
After using MCedit to move a building from map to map and a section of town over a few blocks. I can say that MCedit for me does not take the build away (control is way to crazy fro me to want to build in). So I will continue to block by block.
Mods add those "Man minecraft would be cool IF...." factors. What may be cool for me, may not for you. I have to admit I don't use any ingame mods at this time. Though I have thought about it because I would like statues or teleporters but I don't see any up to date for 1.4.6.
Lastly, I think a Genuine Section would be nice, just wonder how long it would be before some one claims a project was block by block however was really built in an editor. Or someone is accused of an editor even though they may have spent the effort to build a huge build.

"I can't afford it." Then don't play it isn't going to kill you to wait till you have the money. If you have internet and a computer I pretty sure you can get the money. If your a kid um try working out something with the parents or guardian (thats how my kid got minecraft).
Mojang has enough money. You make a game that captures millions of people then let see if you care if hackers take your money. Money going his pockets will keep Minecraft updating. No money, No updates. (the Mojang team deserves their paychecks)
"I did it to try it" Maybe at one time this was required but the demo has been up for awhile so not an excuse anymore.

Hmm, I would just be happy if they would spread out through a village and not take up one building and stand around the same spot. Right now the Pigs have a better AI then them (at least the run when you punch them).
Since my last world was some how corrupted I started a new one I call Hallows. Been backing up the file this time. I know at least 5 people have downloaded my backup. But it has come along alot further then the first world ever was.
No mods just texture packs Survival (cheats are on because I may use the command block once i figure a good trade items for "crafting" it)
