I'm about to try this mod. I don't know if this in the mod or not already but the Riptide in pen form should be stackable. This way there is an actual advantage to having it in pen form. Again, just a suggestion.

Another suggestion: it should give XP when you smelt it, like iron and gold.

Judging by how many mods you have installed, I have a slight feeling your error is because of a mod incompatablity. Just guessing.
