hey guys, a fairly big issue has come up recently regarding the current world we reside in and i need your input.
the world is ending! just kidding. but seriously. our current map has many issues that make it unappealing to new players and difficult for established players to navigate from town to town, mostly because everything is so spread out. old spawn has become a looted ghost town on a corrupt chunk that serves only as a reminder for when griefers ran rampant. the existing settlements, silvestris, the vale, new spawn, accell, and any others i may be leaving out, are so far apart that we've had to establish a nether portal system just to travel between them to trade or interact with other players. this is a mounting problem, i've realized everyone's concerns, and i'm here to address them.
what i propose is starting a new world from scratch and update to 1.8. everyone would start out equal in one place and we'd be able to come together and embrace the spirit of what it really means to be playing a multiplayer game. those more introverted people amongst us would be free to go out and establish their own base as they have in the current world, but in this new one, there will be no new spawn or old spawn or cities 20k blocks from each other.
there are, of course, cons to this idea. everyone would be forced to start from scratch again and build up new fortunes for themselves and the community. it would be a lot of work, but it would be done by all of us, together.
if this does happen, gaige has agreed to make the current world available for download so that no builds will be lost. if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact gaige or myself or through pm. i've created a poll, you can vote here. i'm sorry for the inconvenience and i hope to see you guys online soon.

1. Potion making (blaze rods, nether wart, blaze powder, magma cream, glowstone).
2. Ender Dragon fight (eyes of ender crafted w/ blaze powder).
3. Wither fight (wither skeletons ddropping heads).
4. Redstone lamps/glowstone blocks.
5. Long distance travel (each Nether block is equal to roughly 8 Overworld blocks, so this way you can make minecart tracks/paths to other portals of your selected destination: Notch has stated that this is the main purpose of the Nether).
6. Sunlight detectors (New Nether Quartz to craft).
7. Comparators (Nether Quartz).
8. No reason to make a diamond pickaxe (obsidian for nether portal).
9. No challenge involved (ghasts, blazes, zombie pigmen, magma cubes, wither skeletons).
10. Fireplaces/infinite fire (netherrack).
10 legit reasons why the Nether should not be completely removed, but improved.
See what we're getting at?

You know, kind of an easter egg of sorts, but it's a cool mob for people to fight, i.e. mapmakers.
I do think it could be a little bit better though.
(Fix the huts!)
Hopefully the snapshot fixes a few things.
I'm excited for the anvil, however!
I don't think the minecraft really has a "zombie apocalypse" theme to it. It's called
Mine
craft.
Not:

Dead
or
DayZ
You start off and konw that the impending monsters might come, but it's always toggleable. You wanna have some fun so you start chopping wood.
Mine.
You make a crafting bench, and craft some tools.
Craft.
You find some coal and dig it up.
Mine.
You make some torches and light an area up for your epic base!
Craft.
It's turning sunset, so you hurry to build your house. This is the breaking point!
You decide to try and upgrade your tools. You collect some stone.
Mine.
You make a full stone set, and it's looking pretty legit.
Craft.
A zombie is banging on the door. How rude! You open the door politely and then slay him. You are kinda hungry so you eat the flesh, no matter how disgusting it is. You make a farm underground. The day comes and you walk out the door....
BOOM!
You come back to your house and it has been blown in half.
Time to collect more wood and stone to build it better, stronger!
Mine.
You get iron and eventually find diamond! You craft tools and a chestplate.
Craft.
Everyday after school, you build and build and mine and mine and craft and craft, working on your sweet base! A week goes by, and you are finished! Your daddy is very proud of you, and he sets it to be LAN so his sister can play. You expand your creation even further, slaying mobs along the way, while dad plays Vechs' adventure maps and zombie fighting servers.
Minecraft is fun, not gloomy.
Witches are derpy, fine.
I don't think it changes too much in general.
Fix them, remove them, whatever. I'm going to read your other maybe invalid reasons why the witch should be removed, but I will read your very valid reasons why it should be fixed.

Diamonds for you!
Actually, GOLD to you!

Ahem, 6 months is a far cry from the 3+ months it actaully took.
Concerning the "emerald thingi", I find emeralds very useful to trade with villagers for supplies such as tools, armor, food etc. on long trips.
Concerning "random temples", temples are very fun and resourceful and add a feeling of depth to this game. You want a world with trees, dirt, and caves? That's fine by me while I explore temples finding amazing loot and other goodies while avoiding dangerous traps.
Concerning 1.3 as "useless", try the changelog. The number of changes is probably higher than your IQ. Mounds of bugfixes, letting friends play in your SP worlds, performance fixes (note your vulgar lag comment), and so many other features that I can't even explain to you.
Also, I find your "retarded" kids comment very insulting, as some of my cousins have had brain surgery and are special.
Might want to fix that grammar too, buddy.
I thought Alpha was fun, but honestly there wasn't much to it and the graphics were TERRIBLE.
Mope and grope about terrain generation and the such to yourself, people.
