Why you want to be a part of this: This seems like an amazing war project. Nothing on this scale of realism has been done before, and I want to be apart of it. Knowing Polah's and Taur's history, I believe this can easily be done!
Which side do you prefer: The VC
What was the end result of the Vietnam War: The Vietnam War US casualties totaled 57 685 killed and about 153 303 wounded and at the time of the cease-fire agreement, there were 587 US military and civilian prisoners of war, all of whom were subsequently released. A current unofficial estimate puts the number still unaccounted for in the neighborhood of 2500.
What is the famous "Gulf" associated with the Vietnam War's start: 3 Northern Vietnamese PT boats allegedly fired torpedoes at the USS Maddox.
What was the Tet Offensive: The Tet Offensive was an military operation in Northern Vietnam where they sent troops and soliders to annhilihate Southern Vietnam and American troops. They were sent to kill everyone and everything, and thought this would win the war in a single blow.
How far away can the VC make their base: The VC can make their base 100 blocks away
from the US.
How does the US win: The US wins by finding the VC's Base, or main hub. Once located, they must secure the area, and hold it for exactly 2 minutes.
How deep can the VC make their base/tunnels: 10 blocks down, this allows the US a chance to see and hear the VC
What happens at evening: The VC can ambush the US base.
How would you ambush the US: For the VC to ambush the US, The VC needs to wait for nightfall, or after then US has patrolled the road. Once this would happen, I would start the assult. I would bring my entire side, lets say there 5 people. We would rush in, kill everyone inside. Lets say the US kills one of our members, and 4 are left. I will plant 3 of my soldiers at the door ( presuming the spawn isn't inside the base ), and I will personally look for the intel. Once I found it, I would command the rest of my soldiers to create a distraction, as I climbed the wall ( presuming there is a ladder ) and jump the wall, running to the safety of the forest.

Me, Brentyn, and nevruc on VC, right?
We don't really need a leader, but we can have certain titles, ex. Chief Digger. Just a suggestion.
NOM NOM NOM!
I think a couple more people will be on VC.
Also, Polah, regaurding napalm, it says we are not allowed to directly use it. Does this include setting it up for a piston trap? >:biggrin.gif:
Oct 27, 2011Today I broke up with my girlfriend. I really like her, but she was too perfect. Both my parents also died today, in a twinky-related accident. My puppy was diagnosed with aids as well, and the carrier was apprently my sister. The guy from Friday the 13th, and the monster from Paranormal Activity 3 also haunt my closet at night. And I commited suicide. Worst of all, I learned that posting problems on the internet gets nothing solved. =/Posted in: General Off Topic

No, it's going to be vanilla.
But there will be advantages:
VC has surprise and they get to choose the ground of the battles.
US have good defensive positions, number superiority, and an easily defendable fort.
I dont know about number superiority, everyone seems to be going for VC. Maybe only a few selected people can be VC or something? We would need to keep a ratio of some thing close to 2:1.
Oct 26, 2011Alright, I have created the US base according to my plan. Im going to be honest, it needs some work. The entire camp needs to be about doubled to make room for the tents. Also, I created the wall at 5 blocks high, then created a ledge, which made the entire wall about 7 1/2 blocks high. Most of the trees around the base are smaller then it, but a couple actually touch the top of the wall, and make a connection. I will upload screenshots of my creation, and a download link later.Posted in: Starting Up / Looking For Server
Oct 25, 2011I was thinking the same with hoarding items. As badly as the US failed at Vietnam, atleast we were united.Posted in: Starting Up / Looking For Server
I thought that 20 blocks was high as well, until I actually put it up against a tree. The average tree is about 7 blocks tall , while one of those crazy trees are near 15 blocks. If a VC found a path in those trees to get over the wall, the US wouldn't stand a chance.
I personally never heard of the game, but I will defintly have to watch a walkthrough.

I was going to plop the base down in the middle of a forest (jungle) so there would be jungle all around it. Eh, I don't know; I'll find a good spot though.
I honestly don't know much of the Vietnam War, but from what they thought in school ( Which was suspicously limited.. ), the US didn't have a cushy base. They were living in homemade tents, surviving from supply load to supply load, literally getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. I wasn't going to say anything about the US-base because it wasn't a bad idea, but now that I know your not sure about, I would like to throw a suggustion in the dark.
This kinda veers from the realism just a little, but hear me out. Instead of a 30x30 base, how about a 50x50 encampment? The wall around it would be about 20 blocks high ( Atleast 5 blocks higher then the tallest tree around it ), and at the top would be a railing for soldiers to keep a watch of the forest. There will be one front entrance, which would have a system of pistons to open it from the inside only. The ground of the base will be grass, and under that would be cobblestone. ( This is simply to warn the VC that the base is here, and not to dig up ) Around the outside will still be the barbwire fence. ( Spiders Web )
Inside the base, there will be only two main structures. One will be a very small shack that will act as a cafeteria. It will be less then 5x5, and inside is just the rations of food, and maybe a furnace or two. The other building will be the captains office. It will be 7x7ish ( Im undecided ) and inside is the captains quarter's, his work place, the maps of the area, and buckets of napalm. ( This is for realism, saying that the captain calls in the airstrikes and what not. ) Outside will be a ton of tents that are 3x6. They will look something like this.
Bookshelf = wood
Inside would be a simple fence support, 2 beds on either side, and 2 chest at the foot of each bed. The US had horrible camp conditions, and overcrowding was often. This can work really well if the server gets popular, and we have to start crowding 3 to a tent, for realism purposes.
In the middle of the clearing will be a crafting center, which will be basicly 4 craftingbenches in a square. Around the benchs, will be double chests filled with items. One for wood, One for cobblestone, one for arrows, one split in half, bows and swords, and one for iron chest plates, and possibly leather boots? The chests will be refilled ever 8? minecraft days, to simulate the resupply.
If you have any questions about my general structure idea, just invite when building the server, and ill give you some pointers.

If you read properly you would know he is now in 11th grade (high school), and I'm in 9th. I also said he had a license, then he lost it. :dry.gif:
I read the entire thing. Last time I checked, 11th grade is considered a kid. Im not patting him on the back and calling him a good boy, but seriuslly?
