This happened to my Son once, but I was able to restore his world.
Copy your save file for backup just in case.
Make a new world with the same folder name.
Let it load, it should be the same world as before, you will lose your inventory.
If that doesn't work. Save the world, then replace the files in the new folder from your backup copy, then try loading that if you can.
That *should* fix it, but it's not certain.
If your computer was overheating, that means something is wrong, if the problem just went away then you still have a problem somewhere. If the problem is gone because you fixed it then I wouldn't worry. My son lost his map because he knocked the power off on the computer while he was playing...
You can't say "I want to do this project, now go do the work for me." If you want to do it, you have to do it yourself...
You can try to form a team, but that is hard to do unless you are all dedicated. And on the internet - that's hard. It'd hard enough to do in real life!
I understand the feelings. I feel the same way at times, but only because if things were better, I knwo I could enjoy this game even more.
BUT
We are on a lot of new territory here. This type of game, download only - updated automatically - "often" (As compared to the average game) is still a kinda new category. The whole sandbox - 100% user created game type is still being developed and honed in many companies. This whole game is so involving because its something fresh and new - different from most of whats out there. And the whole Indie game developer thing is still developing, it's only recently started taking off.
In addition, I'm sure Markus is going through many firsts. He's starting a new company, that can't be easy.
The point is this. It's going to take time for him to figure this all out. If he does it can be grand, if in the end it doesn't, it could still inspire many to try their luck. Or he could learn from it and make something better.
Either way, his success depend on us and how he chooses to embrace us - his customers/fans/supporters. He has to establish some standards on how all this should work, because most games/companies, are not this close to their fans as far as interaction goes.
And this as well as the game code, may need a rewrite.
I just had an idea flash through my head while I was half asleep. I think the rare thing may be an item that can appear in dungeons that couldn't before. Like maybe a Golden Apple?
Another idea I had was Creeper Spawner...
But the question is, could you find Golden Apples in chests before? And is there a way for someone to look in the code to see if this item or any other item is called to be in a dungeon chest - that wasn't called before?
Ok, first you need to know what video card you have. I've made step by step instructions. Don't be insulted if you already know some of this, I have no idea of your current knowledge level with your computer. :smile.gif:
=== How To Update Video Card Drivers ===
1. Right Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties"
2. Then open "Device Manager" Could be a few places depending on your OS - but it is in there.
3. Expand "Display Adapters" and write down the name of your video card.
4. Find your card in the list on their website. Download and install. This could take a bit as their drivers tend to be large files. You may need to restart after it is installed.
=== How to "Reinstall" Minecraft ===
Minecraft is not a typical game as far as installs go. You just run it and it seems to work magically. But it does have a little home on your disk that it likes to keep it's files. If it ever seems to be acting funky, and you know it was working fine at some point before, it's possible some of the files got messed up. This is increasingly possible if you have recently tried to install any mods.
1. Locate the ".minecraft" folder. For me, it's located at: C:\Users\Richmond\AppData\Roaming where Richmond will be your Windows username. On Windows 7 I can simply type "%AppData%" into the search bar of my start menu and it opens this folder right up.
2. Look inside the folder, there are only 2 folders you want to keep.
"saves" This is your World information, DON'T delete this unless you want to start over.
"texturepacks" This is any custom texture packs you may have installed.
But delete all the other files, the rest are just game files.
3. Launch your Minecraft.exe and login again, it will have forgotten your Username and Password. It will connect to Notch's servers and download just the newest files.
***An easy way to find your ".minecraft" folder if your having trouble locating it. Launch Minecraft, go into "Mods and Texture Packs" then "Open texture pack folder". This will open ut that folder, then all you need to do is go up one directory and your there!
Let me know if this works for you, or if I need to clarify anything.
I just keep my minecraft from updating until the latest mods I have are released for the new version, or I play one of my non modded worlds until then.
I'm 80% certain that Notch isn't trying to update Minecraft as fast as he can because of a bunch of people at his throat. If I understood the situation correctly, he now has a team of employees and they are working to get the game to beta. If you release many changes at once, and then there is a problem, it's more difficult to track it down.
I understand the frustration, I just want to name my worlds and have a few extra slots, but can't really, because the mods don't update at the same time. My son can't really have the grappling hook, because after an update, if the item is in his inventory, his world won't load until the mod is updated and installed - or InvEdit it out of the game each time.
Notch did mention it not auto updating, but hasn't added that yet. I _think_ you can disconnect from the internet temporarily, then load into offline mode. What I'm not sure of is if it will stay in offline mode until you switch back. If not, you could request a MOD to prevent updating, and once it's Beta and the MODs are built into the MOD system you can update then.
You can "build the trunk"then plant some trees on top to get the leaves. You have to grow on a dirt block, but later you can remove the dirt and place a log.
but I don't know if anybody here would be keen on creating this mod right now, since nobody knows if there isn't another update waiting for us at the doorstep, and each update breaks all mods so everyone's busy trying to update their own mods to work with the newest version.
This is true, I'm currently waiting for some other mods to update, but a notch update is soon...
No one is being forced, this is a request that I am posting. I don't understand why everyone is analyzing my motives of why I am requesting it. You either have the programming knowledge to help or you don't.

That is constructive :smile.gif:
But HOW do you do that, I wasn't sure.
