I don't know why this happens but as you can see, the pig is black on one side, and if you see the items on my hot bar, you can see that 1 side is black on the icon also. Placed blocks, however, are not black on one side.

All you need to do is go to finder>home (your name)>library>application support>minecraft>texturepacks. You need to drag the texture pack you want (make sure its zipped) into the texturepacks folder
