I'm looking for a very secure base design (for PVP/SMP). I can't protect any blocks/chests, so I need to be very careful. My current base has been looted several times, so I have to build a new one.
I've been thinking of a big obsidian box, with 2 layers of obsidian on walls, lava between them. But that will require a lot of obsidian, and considering that it's pure survival, I will also need a lot of diamond pickaxes, which aren't easy to get. I could get redstone and turn it into obsidian into a mold, but that will also require a lot of redstone, which isn't very common.
Is there any (realistic) base design I could use, that can protect me and my items?
Clocks will lag the server, but not lag the FPS of the client. Being in singleplayer, your client also has to do all the block calculations (redstone, lighting and so on), so that's why it lags so bad; in multiplayer, the actual server will lag, not the client FPS.
I doubt it, if you jump fast enough. :tongue.gif: Couldn't you use pressure plates instead of levers? 1 person places blocks and pressure plates, one stays and jumps on pressure plates as they are placed.
Yeah, but I'll also run a webserver (for personal development / PHP, maybe even MySQL).
Also, there'll be a lot of TNT.
I chose them because I want a high-quality provider, and I don't like VPSes because I want to be able to create multiple sub-servers and change the allotment for each with the resources I paid for.
For a Minecraft server (private, max. 5 people on at the same time) would these specs be enough?
1Ghz CPU
1GB RAM
5GB HDD (for Linux and the actual server)
5GB SSD (for the map)
I could get a HDD, but from what I've heard, SSDs are better for Minecraft servers, and I don't expect the map to be very big (I can upgrade anytime). Since I'm going to buy the server from CloudSigma (Google it, I've used it in the past), I don't have to worry about limited I/O operations count on the SSD.
Would it be better to get a bigger HD and no SSD, or is my current setup fine?

Cobblestone - normal piston
Obsidian - sticky piston
Mushroom - piston head (of normal piston)
Pistons face each other.

Is there any? :tongue.gif:

How am I exactly supposed to get slimeballs? :tongue.gif:
Btw, I just mined 10 stacks of redstone and lost it.

Also, I have a regular income now so money's not my main concern.
