I was wondering if anyone was thinking of doing a full remake of the original pokemon, but on minecraft.
After playing with many different mods(unfortunately, I have no ability whatsoever in modding myself), I realize that people arent that far away from making fully functional games, and indeed in adventurecraft, that seems proven, with portalcraft, the zelda adventure, and some others I cant think of right now.
The map, would be based off of the pokemon Red/blue version, with some changes of course, since it would be in 3D now, and the scaling would need to be adjusted to suit purposes. But now with tall grass being officially part of the game, and what I have seen capable in astethics and some crazy design and pathing with mods like mo´creatures, or mo creeps, and enviromental ones like the coral reef mod, or more trees, I think the map and pokemon models at least, could be easily, albeit time consumingly achieved.
Things like random battles, or seperate battle screens, I could see being a problem, but I believe the Minecraft Modding community has some of of the greatest programming minds out there, and could figure it out in the next few months, if not only weeks, once really thinking on it. I dont know honestly, because I have no true Idea of how the modding and developing process works. :biggrin.gif: but you guys seem fast and smart as hell :biggrin.gif:
And then of course setting up all the attacks and animations for the attacks. I wouldnt even care if anyone really managed this, if there was just a original pokemon overlay for the attacks, and HP/pp, items etc, while the "Pokemon" ingame would just kinda dance or jump in relatively the smae place the whole time. Kinda like Pokemon stadium, but less animation for attacks I guess.
And then of course most of you know that pokeballs have already been achieved, so thats basically done.
The main character, I.E. You. would never get hurt, and wouldnt be able to do things like swim, without a pokemon that has the proper move.
Npcs could be done, thats for sure. Basic scripts and then battle arena.
Items would only work on your pokemon, and there would need to be all the original items, and teh places you aquired them, like the original game, not exact of course... but close enough.
Anyway, I hope I made my point at what I want done. I am requesting someone to at least do some of this. If you can even read this all. Sorry, its 4 in the morning, and yeah.
Hope someone likes the idea, and goes crazy with it :biggrin.gif: I would definetly support you

RebelKeith posted a message on [Creating Mods] [MCP] getRenderType()I just started modding recently and was trying to figure out what the return value of getRenderType did. Since I was trying to make a gate, I was working with fences and doors, which used render types 11 and 7. After experimenting, I found out that it changes the shape of the model, for '0' it is just a cube, but for any shapes other than a cude there is a different number. So I searched through all the block java files to see which blocks used what render type and created a list of them. I thought it would be good for me to post the list here, since googling and searching the forums didn't help me at all.Posted in: Tutorials

for (int i=0; i < 20; i++)
{
int randPosX = chunkX + rand.nextInt(20);
int randPosY = rand.nextInt(100);
int randPosZ = chunkZ + rand.nextInt(5);
(new WorldGenMinable(YourBlock, 10)).generate(world, rand, randPosX, randPosY, randPosZ);
}
}
This is my code that works with 1.1 . I forgot what the numbers do :tongue.gif:
