A fun seed is "Mr. Seed" without the quotes. You spawn on a mountain that overlooks a forest on both sides, and there is another mountain that also overlookes the forest.

posted a message on GLSL Shaders Guide (Tips, tricks, how-to's and more!)
WELCOME TO THE GLSL SHADERS GUIDE!

I made this guide in response to the communities...problems...with shaders and I want to help them in the best way possible. This guide wil teach and help you how to install shaders, different shader packs, and texture packs that feature shader-related textures. I hope this help, and if there is anything I mmissed in this guide then feel free to comment and say what I missed and i'll add it! Thanks!
Also, Minecraft GLSL Shaders is not yet comapatable with the latest Minecraft version 1.6.1. GLSL Shaders is compatable with most other previous versions.

    FIRST THINGS FIRST

Did you install the base GLSL Shdaers mod? No? Here's the link!
    http://www.minecraft...ed-by-karyonix/
This is the mod that adds all shaders support to Minecraft. It makes your game oriented in GLSL and prepares it for upcoming shader packs.
BUT WAIT ONE LITTLE MINUTE. MY GAME AINT GOT NO SHADOWS
That's ok! By default, the base GLSL mod doesn't come with ANY shader packs. Shader packs are what makes the game show the shadows, fancy water, SSAO and more.
Need help installing the base GLSL Shaders mod?
PLEASE NOTE. OPTIFINE IS REQUIRED TO BE USED WITH GLSL SHADERS. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT VERSION OF OPTIFINE. The easiest way to find this is looking at the end of the GLSL Shaders file. Need help? Look below...
    1. Download the mod.
    2. Look in your Minecraft Directory (this is where your bin, texture pack folder are)
    3. Open your minecraft.jar with a program like WinRAR or 7-zZip
    4. DELETE META-IMF. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH
    5. PLEASE NOTE. IF YOU USE MINECRAFT FORGE, INSTALL THIS RIGHT NOW BEFORE OPTIFINE OR GLSL SHADERS.
    6. INSTALL THE CORRECT VERSION OF OPTIFINE THAT CORRELATES TO GLSL SHADERS MOD. YOU MUST HAVE THE CORRECT VERSION OF OPTIFINE IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK PROPERLY.
    7. Now that you have installed OPTIFINE FIRST, now its time for GLSL Shaders. Drag all files from GLSL Shaders into the minecraft.jar
    8. Test Minecraft, if the main screen loads try to open a singleplayer world, join a server ect...
    9. If everything works, then you sre set! If you would like to install other mods, follow their install guide.
    10. If anything went wrong, look over this list again, or look at the install guide on the GLSL Shaders thread, as I may have missed something.
The main reason people have issues with GLSL Shader's mod is because they use the wrong Optifine version. This is how to identify what Optifine version is used for that GLSL Shaders version (this is from the maker of GLSL Shaders himself :) )
"You need correct version of minecraft and OptiFine. Wrong version does not work.
    Example :
    ShadersMod-mc1.4.6-ofuD5-1.43 for Minecraft 1.4.6-1.4.7
is to be used with OptiFine 1.4.6_HD_U_D5
will not work with OptiFine 1.4.6_HD_D5 (standard edition not ultra),
will not work with OptiFine 1.4.6_HD_U_C3 (wrong OptiFine version),
will not work with OptiFine 1.4.5_HD_U_D5 (wrong Minecraft version)."

Now that you have installed the base GLSL Shaders mod, it's time for shaderpacks!

    SONIC ETHER'S UNBELIEVABLE SHADERS

Sonic Ether's Shaders (also known as SEUS) are (as far as I know, I may be wrong) the first to feature many of the newer, more modern and advanced shader methods and additions. I would try your computer with this first, and then work from there!

    http://www.minecraft...c-shadows-more/

Need help installing? Installing this is very similar to texture packs
    1. Download the version of SEUS you would like, older versions usually give more FPS.
    2. Open your Minecraft game
    3. Navigate to the "Options" menu
    4. Find the button that says "Shaders". Click it.
    5. A menu will come up with a box that will look sort-of like the Texture Pack menu
    6. Click "Open Shaderpacks" or whatever that button says..
    7. Find the version of SEUS Shaders you downloaded and drag n' drop that .zip file into the shaderpack folder.
    8. The Shaderpack menu should say (for example) "SEUS v08 Standard". Select that, go into a singleplayer world and then boom! Shaders everywhere.
    9. IF ANYTHING WENT WRONG, PLEASE LOOK BACK OVER THIS. IF IT STILL ISN'T WORKING, LOOK AT THE INSTALL GUIDE ON THE SEUS THEAD. I MAY HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG
Oh noes! I get bad performance!
Now worries my friend! SEUS is labor intensive and most computers can't run it! That's why this is here to help!

    CHOCAPIC 13'S SHADERS
    http://www.minecraft...pic13s-shaders/
If you have bad performance with SEUS, this is your new best friend. This shaderpack is designed all around performance and is my personal favorite. However, this works differently than SEUS, and requires a few extra steps in order to install. Also, please note that when you download this shaderpack, it will download all versions (lite, low, medium, high, ultra). Just chose which one you want.
    1. Download Chocapic13's Shaders from the link above.
    2. When it has downloaded, open up the same shaderpack folder you opened when installing SEUS
    3. Open up Chocapic13's Shaderpack when it downloaded.
    4. You will see a whole ton of zip files in it. PLEASE DISREGARD THE FOLDERS THAT SAY MOD REQUIREMENTS 1.4.6-1.4.7 AND MOD REQUIREMENTS 1.5.2. WE ALREADY DID THAT STEP
    5. The files that say things like v3-high, v3-low, those are the shader packs. Drag the ones you want into the shaderpack folder. Load up your game and bam! Shaders! If you are getting bad performance, try v3-low or even v3-lite.
Also, a good shader to try would be...
    SILDUR'S SHADERS

Sildur's Shaders are focused on combining both performance and beauty. He does have some versions that focus on just performance too, like Basic or Lite. If the above Shaderpacks don;t work well, give these a shot.
    http://www.minecraft...ers-pcmacintel/
Install is the same as SEUS.

    TEXTURE PACKS
Wait a minute, what do texture packs have to do with shaders?
Texture Packs have everything to do with shaders! Even though you don't need them, texture packs can make the way your shader-game look all the better, for example the use of bump-mapping. A man by the name of EskimoNoise is converting a lot of texture packs into Shader compatable formats.
Here is a link to all of the texture packs he has done
    http://tinyurl.com/pe5qjqt
Just make sure the shaderpack you are using is compatable with Bump-Mapping and such.

I hope this guide has helped you, and if there is anything I missed, please comment and I will add it. Pictures of the shaderpacks will be coming soon (or once GLSL shaders is ported to 1.6...) Still having trouble? Look at the original post and your question may be answered there! Thank you! :D

Everyone has been b*tching that Sonic Ether was releasing demo after demo for new features he thought up instead of just doing a fast and stable build for everyone like he promised a couple of months ago. So he said that whatever he had that was stable enough for release would be come the latest public version.
It won't be v10 RC8, he's decided to call it something different.

Ok, and yes his Facebook page is a bit...demanding at the least.

If you can't climb vines/ladders, its because of Forge. I had issues with climbing things, and I grabbed an older Forge/Optifine duo and it now works fine.

Now all we need is an option that shows the last world you were in instead of a static picture. Like what the Aether 1 did.

I love the videos with this mod but... for some reason when I choose the shader pack it won't let me exit the menu and when I try to close the program it locks up and crashes. Please help I don't know what to do. :steve_tearful: :steve_rage:

Your computer is not good enough for the mod, most computers can't run it very well. The videos you see with it are from very good gaming computers.

The bump maps are the same as any other game, parallax mapping uses the same bump maps but also uses transparency for extra depth. The more transparent part of a texture is the deeper the hole it makes. The best way to learn is to download a pre modded pack and look at the textures to see what's going on. Use a 1.4 format pack because all of the textures are in one image rather than 250 separate ones.
    Here's a TNT crate, I think it's from R3D Craft

    Ok ok, thanks!

Random, but does anybody have a tutorial for how to add bump mapping textures to a texture pack? I want to add support for bump mapping in some packs, and I want to do them myself.

Everybody stop arguing about FPS. I get only 40FPS with shaders (on the lowest config) and I'm proud of that. All of you grow up and be proud your computer can run shaders. Sometimes things like this don't matter. Just be happy with what you have, and even the fact you own a computer.

Ok, im confused. I have the new 1.5.2 version working and all, but do the terrain_nh.png and terrain_s.png need to be in the new texture format? Or even better can somebody link/send me a texture pack that is compatible with the new mapping?
