I am sort of in the middle here, on one hand, I love Beta terrain probably the most. Maybe that is nostalgia, but I loved the sheer variety of terrain you got- massive cliffs, those enormous overhangs and I sort of miss the random "sandpits" you would find. That said I don't dislike the new generation, it just isn't quite so exciting, even with many more biomes. I also miss the continents you used to get, the world is currently like a Pangea and the oceans are in reality lakes, I sort of liked the adventure in crossing enormous oceans to new lands back in the early releases. One thing that could be improved upon in modern Minecraft is you can spawn in a world that due to the temperature of biomes is almost exclusively desert and savanna biomes. I am lucky in my world it is mostly the biomes I like most near spawn but that is pure luck.

Me too, I miss the adventurous aspect of it, it feels like most of everything is just mountains which get incredibly annoying and oceans don't seem to actually exist anymore. More so large rivers. I've found one seed out of about 4 I made that made me happy, everything else was very ugly and those stone mountains were an eyesore to say the least.

I disagree with you. My current single player world has nearly all biomes within 2000 to 3000 block radius from the spawn, and I actually like the world generation the way it is now (minus the mountains, can't wait to the new mountain generation coming in Caves & Cliffs part 2).

You also can set the game to have "large biomes", when starting new world, so it wouldn't feel as claustrophobic.

But be prepared to end up in the middle of gigantic mountain biome or birch biome (which I personally like, but I'm bit weird anyway).

While I indeed don't agree with you. I can't claim, that you would be the only one who has nostalgic feelings towards the world generation of Alpha and Beta versions of the game.

In the end, everyone has their own preferences.

That is a pro for the new world generation, but I've found the oceans are a lot harder to fine and those damn mountains look really gross, other than that, biomes being not as rare is a plus, but it's the look that bothers me.

I've started up a couple worlds, now I am very particular with what I like, but ever since the game has been steadily updating, I feel the terrain has gotten bland and the biomes spawn in dense areas that make me feel claustrophobic, does anyone else get the same feeling? I remember the world generation being quite different and very interesting, with floating mountains and the such, it feels like these days it's always snowy mountains and a birch forest, it doesn't feel like the game is random more so just bias towards those biomes, especially mountains. As such everything feels clustered and looks kind of gross, I miss the greenery from the Alpha and Beta days, where the terrain was much more nuance and had bizarre looks.

posted a message on Which is your favorite MINECON cape?

Hi everyone! I've been seeing a lot of posts about Minecon recently so I thought it would be a nice change to instead of complain about how Minecon capes aren't being given out anymore, we could look back at the past and discuss our favorite ones.

First up is the Minecon 2011 cape. This cape was chosen according to a vote done at Mojang.com.

Next is the 2012 Minecon cape. This cape unlike the previous year, wasn't chosen according to votes, and was a complete mystery until Curse leaked it.

In 2013, it was thought the next Minecon cape would be the unused green cape from the poll in 2011, however, this prediction turned out to be true, and false.

2014 would be a "Minecon-less" year and would only return the next year in 2015. 2015 Minecon brought forth another cape that would be given out to the 5000+ attendants.

Minecon 2016 would be the last year we would get of a physical Minecon. This would also be the last of Minecon capes we would see until 2 years later.

This one is a huge surprise, to me anyway. I'm not sure how this cape works, but according to the Minecraft Wiki; "Unlike previous events, this cape is being distributed on the Minecraft Marketplace, as a promotion for the upcoming character creator." This cape is called the MINECON LIVE - Founders Cape.

The last capes were never used unfortunately, and lost to the Creeper cape in the 2011 poll.

That's all for now! Which is your favorite?

A little detail I noticed a while back is how repetitive the capes are, they all follow the exact some background except a different color and different 'symbol'.

Personally, I wish I had the unused green cape, but oh well, my second favorite is definitely the 2011 one.

posted a message on No Sharks? What?

So what, Mojang is a bunch of tree huggers now? ? ? I can't believe what she said, this younger community really is making a difference, and not in a good way. But to be fair it's not entirely their fault, Mojang just thinks they are stupid enough to somehow go up to a shark.

"With no rules to follow, this adventure, it's up to you", Damn I want Notch back.

With their logic they might as well remove trees, "Trees are really misunderstood, people harvest them for money and think their useless, but they actually give us oxygen."

In my mind I think these are the best in order and I have reasons I picked these capes. 2011 has to come number one due to the simple look and the iconic creeper on the cape 2015 cape has to come number two this would have won the 1st place if not just being eyes the amount of detail on the cape other then the eyes really makes the cape look polished and beautiful 2012 has to come 3rd! this beautiful cape with its cool colors really looks nice but the colors in some spots can just look too bright hurting the eyes. NEXT 2015 Yes 2015 the only reason this isn't at the last place is it sorta of fits with the village update in 2015. And the last cape would have to be 2013 thats right 2013 the cape has no reason to even be there in the 1st place and just a boring old piston by it self really makes the cape boring the colors they picked for the cape are terrible green with a oak color? ew. I personally hate this cape and the only way other people could find enjoyment is actually doing a ton of redstone themselves. I hope you enjoyed this really long replay.

Cool, all the capes have the same background texture, just with something on top, so the 2016 cape really isn't that detailed :P

posted a message on New user - which edition should I buy?

Get first Minecraft: Education Edition first in-order for your child to learn how to play the game. This is exclusively for PC (A.T.M.).

The kid doesn't need education addition, normal PC is fine.
