Hi. This guy has been posting **** on Reddit for the last day or so, like he's going to get pluses or something. I really think this guy is mentally damaged. I have been watching everything he's posted and rating it according to my feeling. Maybe you should do the same.
if the infinite lava spring thing is relying on the liquid physics change made in 1.9 pre5, then this will break the moment the next prerelease or update is out since Jeb is reverting said change. If it isn't relying on that and you found a way to make infinite lava springs, then that's awesome.
I haven't seen anything from Jeb about liquid physics since I learned this trick (which was this morning).
I hope that the lava spring remains. I just *seems* intentional. So you can make a water spring with 2 buckets and a 2 x 2 hole in the ground? now you can do the same with 4 lava buckets and a plus sign in the ground.
I know that you can make obsidian with redstone, and Notch has said that there will be a patch for that. That makes sense, because what has redstone to do with lava? But if water can have an infinite spring, then why not lava? Why should lava be a finite resource? You know what Earth is filled with?
Could we get step by step instructions, or a map download?
I can do that, but I am Australian and now it is a time for a bed for me. If no one has worked it out by the time I get up, I will post a bottom up reconstruction.
Or you could cross post this to the red stone forums. I bet they'll give you 5 variations how to make this in an hour.
I did say hi earlier on, but I think I was over looked. I figured I have waited long enough to try again. So, I am 32. I recently did this. I live in Australia.
Because of obsidians mine speed, casting obsidian is usually preferable. Only when making enchantment tables, or Nether side portals is mined obsidian necessary. Because of this, I don't see a complex obsidian generator ever catching on unless it can be made more automated.
None the less, this is a great invention. Good to know its possible, and this may lay the ground work for future models that may prove more efficient.
I agree, it is a pointlessly complex and inefficient way to do something with a vastly easier method that's been around since alpha. For example, outside of Skyblocks, who uses cobblestone generators? But I'm a SCIENTIST, DAMMIT :laugh.gif:
Maybe if an enchantment gets added to mine obsidian faster, you would use this. In the mean time, It's yet another pointless machine to fill another room of my vast, vast fortress. Vast.
I saw a video this morning showing how to make an infinite lava spring, which got the wheels turning in my head: how can I exploit this to make infinite obsidian?
This machine is an order of magnitude more complex than the standard cobblestone generator, and you'd probably use it just as often, but I hope that you think, as I do, that it is the new must have accessory for the modern minecraft home.
As far as I can tell nothing as self contained as this device has been made so far. It requires no fuel in the form of redstone, and you don't have to haul lava and water in buckets. Because you're not converting redstone into still lava, I don't see why it'll stop working after a patch.
It is not very efficient, unfortunately, and anyone who can make a more efficient version would be a legend to me.
SO I have tried installing OptiFine 1.8.1_HD_MT_A which was not without it's difficulties for me (picture that scene in Zoolander where they try to get inside the computer).
Now it ticks along nicely and the performance is much better, UNTIL:
I am not running anything behind minecraft. It's so frustrating its making me freehand rage faces in MS paint!
EDIT:
Just to show that it's not being caused by the texture pack:
The thing is with blue dye though, it fades fast. So that should be a mitigating feature of adding plant based blue dyes. Maybe the wool so dyed fades to white after a few hundred game days (annoying). It also adds the question of what to do with lapis. Bling?
Rig up the bottom of a lake with TNT, and excavate a vast cavern underneath it. lead the dragon into the cavern, detonate the TNT, and drown the dragon. AHA, YOU FIRE BREATHING MONSTER!
To my mind, dragons should be immense and godlike. To solo a dragon, you need powerful enchantments.
In fiction, I love the Earthsea dragons. They sit there, barely ever moving, powerful and immortal god-like things. In MiddleEarth there is the dragon Smaug, who was so encrusted with jewels that he was invincible, except for a little patch under his armpit. The dragon Griaule (seriously, if you like dragons, read "The Man Who Painted the Dragon Griaule") had become immortal by a mis-cast spell from a wizard who aimed to kill it.
Granted, none of the above will be likely in Minecraft. I would hope Dragons to rarely come by, maybe once or twice when you're low level they could land nearby and watch you, but never aggro at you unless you attack them or approach the hoard. Dragons should live in the mountain biomes, and there should only ever be one per biome. They should be ENORMOUS.

Here here is griefing Deadmau5:

I actually think this guy is either psycho, doesn't understand the internet or has no concept of accountability.

I am sure there is a better way. Inverting the piston at the bottom would be favorite. I have more shots of the dem thing here.
edit: and here is the lock I added after I made that album (but before I made the video).

Yes but that is sorcery, in that it requires methods outside the universe (of minecraft) itself. And you will burn, sir, at the stake.

I was getting this before I installed the texture pack.

ummm... Vista?
I'm not hugely computer savvy. Let me know what you need to know and I'll try to find it. Thanks!

This is happening near my spawn, so I don't think it's because the game is rendering new chunks. I'm running 1.9pr4. If you can help, thanks!

+ if you think blue dye should be called "Woad".
