Poisonous potato. It is useful for no crafting recipes and cannot be used with any other item or block. All it does is take up space and lower your potato yield from your farm.

I think it's high time a potion recipe was released using poisonous potatoes as an ingredient.

Thanks everyone for the advice, some good wisdom here!

I do only play Java at this point and plan on keeping the world up to date with the latest releases (no snapshots).

The Amplified world that I was debating using is a seed I found years ago that I fell in love with. There is a Birch Forest mountainous peninsula very close to spawn on the ocean with beautiful terrain and a Swamp on the opposite side which flows out into the ocean and is nestled in a deep valley on its other sides. For years I have been wanting to turn that peninsula into a sprawling fortress base and the swamp into a massive village but never had the time to invest into it.

The Default world will likely be the seed "Gold Experience" which I have explored a bit already. While not as inspiring, I think it would serve well as a main world. I've always wanted to do a dwarven mine type of build in a ravine, and there's a beautiful surface ravine at spawn. I'll probably spend a couple more hours searching through more random seeds just to be sure.

After consideration I think I should start with a default world. My favorite thing to do is explore and despite not being quite as inspiring as amplified, seeing the new content and biomes "as intended" in a default world sounds right for me. Perhaps in the future I'll start a Hardcore world with the Amplified seed so I can have the best of both worlds.

Anyways, thanks again for everyone's opinions and advice!

    Hello!

I'm new here and looking for a bit of advice regarding a new survival world. I haven't played much since ocean monuments first came out (1.12?) and was looking to get back into it with the goal of a long-term solo survival world focused on "lore friendly" builds and bases while exploring everything new and learning deeper mechanics with minimal tutorials. I never really advanced too much back when I played previously but I really want to invest the time now.

My question is, what would you recommend for world settings? I have loosely explored several Default-type world seeds and found some cool ones, but find the terrain of an Amplified world to inspire me to build with the landscape much more. To be clear, I'm looking for interesting terrain formations and biome intersections more than generated structure availability.

What are your thoughts, recommendations, or advice? Please share!
