Yup, I'm still subbed too. This thread's been dead for a while, but if there's new interest, maybe we could bring it back.

I should probably just apologize for the bug-riddled mass of spaghetti that is Body Shop. I wrote it while I was still learning Java and bit off a bit more than I could chew. Sorry guys D:

I've never tried it, but there's also Triangle Hosting, which offers 512MB for free. Maybe start there just to get your feet wet?

what is that and where do i look to get/buy one??

Just a computer that you only use for the server so you can use your PC for other stuff. You can buy/build one, or alternatively you could rent server time from a hosting company.

But how would a modpack help you if you can't find the folder anyway?

First of all, the independently textured arms and legs are a 1.8 feature, so it isn't officially supported yet. You can test it out in any snapshot after 14w03a (I think). Also, you can embed images in a post by putting the URL inside image tags like this:

    [img]www.example.com/pictureofacat.jpg[/img]

You can use imgur or a similar site for hosting.

posted a message on Proposed Solution to the Server Monetesation Problem
    Quote from weaversam8

It would be the clients choice whether to play on the server with this solution, but just know when I speak of resource packs, I am speaking of ones using the modding API and therefore would be guaranteed safe and not malicious. As I understand it, the process is as simple as selecting 'yes' in game, as many already do with resource packs. Parents restricting things like this would restrict the child playing on the server, but parents already do that to children with all servers in general. That is the parents' decision, but most parents, save tech-savvy ones, would not realize accepting yes to a resource pack in game as a 'download'.

As for the processing power issue, obviously there would be some lag issues, but, done right, as the client only has to handle things for themselves, it shouldn't be any more than a client experiences in singleplayer nowadays.

This is another interesting issue. AFAIK, the modding API will not guarantee safety. You're dealing with clients automatically downloading and running Java; that's scary stuff. I think Mojang said they wanted to include mods in resource packs though, so I'm not sure what they intend to do.

I'm not sure how helpful this would be. The more responsibilities the clients have, the more sanity checking the server has to do. Seems like this could get messy very fast and not really save many resources for what it's worth.

posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From Mojang
    Quote from qwerti10

why? because you dont think about it! Don't you get it? If they do that all the big servers will stop! they only could sell cosmetic things like name tag color (who do you think buys that?).

True, some larger servers will die off, but if they're so lousy that they have to rely on illegally selling Mojang's content to stay alive, then will we really be missing much?

    Quote from qwerti10

About 50% of all the content in the www is based on big servers: youtube vides/ let's plays/ animations, Maps, Animations, Plugins.

Yeah, that's gonna need a citation.

    Quote from qwerti10

Not only that all this people are jobless then (big server teams) also alot of players will stop playing the game (also players who have nothing to do with it because so much good stuff will just get killed).

Maybe these people should have chosen a more legitimate, non-EULA-breaking line of work.

Mojang is pruning the tree and it hurts, but in the long run this will make for a healthier community.

I'm watching howcasttechgadgits' videos on youtube, supposedly he is a big name in the coding community, getting published and stuff, and so far what he is teaching works. And yes I do have some of the comic done, the reason why it has taken so long for me to launch this sight is because on launch, I wanted the prologue done.

This sounds cool! I'm excited to see what Adamant Hearts is about. There's a pretty neat webcomic plugin for Wordpress you may want to take a look at. You probably are already using it, but just in case.

I think it's time for me to start posting again, It's been too long since my last post here IMO. Anyways, I finally started using my drawing tablet, and drew this today. I changed the design again, but as the drawing says... ( I can't draw smooth lines, but I kinda like the rough lines ) What do you guys think of it? ^_^ Also good luck on the comic Afrodens, I haven't done it myself but I can guess how difficult programming a website might be.

That looks pretty cool, I'm liking the plush-ish kind of design you're going with. Your skill has definitely improved from some of your earlier posts too, great work!

I dimly remember Falvie. Face rig looks AWESOME. Also. I have the most sneaking of suspicions that everyone here but me knew of Antilia. WHY WOULD YOU KEEP SUCH AN AMAZING GAME FROM ME? I cannot help but wonder if face rig could be used for that... I would LOVE that! I have an Ipad now. Can I draw on it, or is it too hard?

Well, your post is the first I've heard of Antilia, so nope! That's some of the best real-time fur rendering I've seen, I'll be sure to keep an eye on that project.

I really hope that face rig thing comes with some sort of API that games and such can implement. The idea of making custom characters sounds completely awesome, but I gotta learn character modelling first :P Imagine being able to appear as your 'sona in a Skype call or in an online game! Somewhere in the last five years we stopped living in the present and started living in the future.
