Apr 3, 2012Billybobjoepants posted a message on You Are Minecraft - A Community Project of Epic ProportionsThis is a really great idea, but has anyone thought of the complications that will be involved in many people building skins they've downloaded? You'll get clones, and potential notices by the real creators. I know this sounds ludicrous, but I know a lot of people that really seem proud and personal about this thing that they didn't make.Posted in: News

I'm gonna have to get a little more creative.

(Also, I'm not sure what the server can take at the moment, seeing as it's not running on a dedicated pc yet: with bukkit, it should be alright, though.)

Whitelist rescinded; come one, come all. No, really, come all.
Top of the evening, my couch dwelling comrades. Me and only one other friend are currently in the process of preparing a new server map for what you intellectuals may have guessed is called "Funkcraft." The concept is a nice one: The map's cities, railways (I'll get to this in a sec) and other public or grief-vulnerable areas will be worldguarded. Players will certainly be able to purchase plots for the use of dwellings and economy-minded shops or trading centers. However, outside of these areas vanilla survival is the rule. Cities will have different bends to them, from the luxurious to the lawless. PVP? Everywhere. The goal here is realism. Which is where I come to the railway thing: the server will be (but is not currently) running Traincraft, that awesome mod with the railroads and the flying machines. Flan's is also a possibility (how much @ss would that kick? Unfortunately, it runs horribly for SMP.) Industry? Maybe, but god, that can bog down a server. And at last, boats. If we determine the vanilla ones aren't good enough. We'll shop it around a bit when we're in the works. Which is why this is being posted in the creative forum: right now we only want a handful of whitelisted builders to point our cities to the sky. The experienced, tarnished pros that dwell among us here are the perfect men for the job. Yeah.
As of now, this is the swag city downtown area (all of these names are for lack of something better by the way. Flustered?):
There are some other requirements:
1. Don't be a scrub
2. Don't like pewdipie
3. Do be able to name at least 5 dinosaurs
4. Rule 2 is especially true for everyone except Larry
5. Like funky music
6. Chill. All the time.
We like to party here on Funkcraft. If you think you're funky enough than swag on over and ask to be on the whitelist. I'll send you the swaggy address and we'll drop the funky beats. Stay thirsty, my friends.

The other side of that coin is that, let's face it, notch is a pretty lousy, self-taught coder. While he can do just about anything he wants to with the language if he wants to, it will probably run slow, and at the worst of times be full of holes. He had the power to create a really kick-@ss game and did, but god, it was buggy. Jeb and the sort of shop he runs is much more geared towards a fast-running game- bugs have been weeded out efficiently and quickly. The class layout for minecraft is one of the most confusing messes in videogame history, but it's getting better now. A disappointing and shameful gap in this run, however, is the new launcher, which confuses me as I hope they'll do something about it.

I'm no good at deciphering error logs, but it is known the the halo weapons pack has an itemID conflict with our pack. You could take on changing the IDs yourself, or you can just choose one or the other. The reason we don't change it to be compatible is that no matter what we change the IDs to, something else all of a sudden becomes incompatible.
