What in the original image evokes such a bad meme as Herobrine? Anomalies abound in Minecraft, absolutely nothing unusual here.

miracledinner posted a message on Java and Bedrock JoinPosted in: SuggestionsI don't think this would technically work. Phones and the Switch for instance would likely not cope well with java engine. On the other hand, if we brought bedrock over, a lot of the popular stuff reliant on java: mods, plugins, shaders, would break the whole thing would have to be begun from scratch. Plus, the communities are kinda different: java is more technical and its servers tend to have more experienced and hardcore players, whereas bedrock has a more casual and less experienced audience, and its servers tend to have less experienced people. Plus the experienced/casual contrast has other visibilites in minecraft: attack cooldowns, armour mechanics, controllers, modpacks, redstone, performance, etc.
I do think it would be nice for java and bedrock to be united, but I don't think it's a realistic possibility, at least not anytime soon.

citricsquid posted a message on State of the CobaltThis thread is to keep all moderators in the loop on what is happening with Cobalt, I'll go over where we're at with regards to bugs, the plan moving forward and our long term plans for the forum.Posted in: Administrators & Moderators
Where we're at right now
There are currently148149 reported items to be addressed by the development team, these are minor things like "Add a comment count to the appeals list (eg: 2 comments)" all the way through to major things like "Moderators don't have the "move" option in the bulk moderation drop down on a forum index". At present the development team is working through the issues, a few dozen have been resolved but the majority remain open. At this point I have put together a document covering the major issues that we need addressed as a priority and the development team will be focusing on those in the coming days. These issues are (in order of importance):
Disable nested quotes, nested quotes have caused significant problems with the editor and they're a very poor experience when reading the forum, they will be completely disabled (except for when users manually construct them through BBCode).Warning acknowledge doesn't go away, at the moment a small number of imported warnings are causing problems with the modal not going away and users are unable to use the forum (unless they hit escape on every page load).Fix Bulk Moderation, this includes: returning the "Move" option to forum indexes, fixing "Add Prefix" and adding bulk moderation options to the /threads page on a members profile.Add "Private Notes" for deleted posts, at the moment Cobalt only natively supports public notes on deleted posts, functionality for private notes (as we used on IPB) will be added and the language on public notes will be cleaned up (it's confusing at the moment, eg: "Reason for Deletion" is a public note).Allow a different message template for informal vs. formal, this is so that when a member is given an informal they will not panic and think their account is in danger, we'll have a friendly message for members to help them understand what an informal is. Please see the notes at the bottom of this post regarding the temporary "Friendly Rules Reminder".Hide warn icon from members, at the moment the warn icon next to posts -- that indicates a warning has been issued -- is visible to everyone, this will be moderator only (as it was on IPB).Add "Edit Thread" icon to the thread list, at the moment to edit a thread (title, prefixes, status) a moderator must first visit the thread and then select "Edit Thread" from the tools drop down, this icon will sit next to the move icon on the index making it much more efficient to manage threads meta data.- When a post is reported tie the report to the current revision of the post, at the moment if you view a report it will pull in the latest version of the post, even if that isn't the version of the post that existed when the report was made. This feature is quite complex and may take some time to implement, but it's important. There's a note below about what to do in the mean time.
Display a friendly name for report origination, currently the URL of the reported content is displayed, this will be switched to a breadcrumb for the content location, eg: /forums/minecraft-discussion/suggestions... will become "Forums - Minecraft Discussion - Suggestions".Add icon to post indicating if it has an open report, long term we'd like to return the option to mark a report as complete inline but for now the feature will just provide a link to the report.Remove moderators access to Private Message and Profile reports, this is just a permissions issue, adding a new permission for these 2 items will resolve the issue.- Signatures won't be marked as spam.
Members cannot manage their own polls, again this is another permissions issue, adding a new permission for managing own polls.- Edit thread titles when clicking "edit" below an opening post, this isn't a major issue but it's super confusing to members! Right now the only way to edit a title is via "Edit Thread" in the tools drop down inside a thread.
Return the /unread URL, to provide members an easy way to bookmark the latest unread posts in their favourite threads- Notification system improvements... unfortunately while this is a big priority it's something that needs to be addressed long term with a lot of development investment, it will not be happening in the immediate future but is a very high priority and the product team is aware of how important it is.
"Friendly Rule Reminders" and Informals
You may have noticed in the warn modal there is a ban definition labelled "Friendly Rule Reminder", I have briefly covered this in the How to Moderate guide but I have not fully explained the reason why they exist (temporarily):
A very important part of moderating is helping members to improve the way that they post, (most) members and moderators share a common goal: share and consume content in the most efficient and enjoyable way possible, unfortunately sometimes through poor judgement, misunderstanding or just plain ignorance of the rules members make minor mistakes that don't have a significant impact on the usability of the forum for others, but are things that they should avoid doing. For the last few years we've been using "informals", these are warnings that exist to help members learn but don't have an impact on their account... unfortunately one major problem with informals is that they don't appear any different to normal warnings, and many members don't understand that 0 points means they're not in trouble.
A "Friendly Rule Reminder" is, fundamentally, an informal warning, however unlike a normal warning it doesn't talk about points or suspensions, it focuses on informing the member about how they can improve their posts. Due to an oversight on my part it's not currently possible to specify a different message for an informal than a formal, however this is being added very soon (see item #5). Until #5 is added we would prefer moderators to use a Friendly Rule Reminder instead of an informal where possible, because members are much more receptive to friendly messages that encourage them to learn the rules rather than talk about punishment.
To summarise: If you are reminding a member about a rule (even if a definition already exists for it) please try and use a Friendly Rule Reminder instead of an informal until further notice (hopefully within the next few days). If you are short for time and don't have time to explain the rule to the user you may use an informal.

Pity I don't care enough about your convenience enough to sacrifice safety for it, huh?
Are you afraid that I'm going to murder you just because I own a weapon? I live in a rural area, 2-3 miles from town and the police in that town happen to be understaffed last time I heard. I think that would justify me owning a weapon right there.
That attitude is exactly the reason why they aren't kept in check. If we have no faith in government to do what is best for its people, then there's no reason for the government to try to do what's best. It's an attitude problem; we've decided that the minority is in charge, and they've gone and taken over. If we don't remind ourselves that government can be a good thing, then we'll never make that a reality. After all, if we can't trust the government, we certainly can't trust the corporations, and then what are we left with? Despair. I can't stand despair, I sat in it for too long.
Also, it's government of the people, for the people, and by the people. That's what our government is.
Isn't that their job and purpose? I have no faith in our current government because they don't care about you, your future or how safe you are from evil boogeymen with guns. At the end of the day all they care about is getting paid. Why do you think this government is always in bed with corporations? See: Crony Capitalism
Government can be a somewhat good thing, but it will never be perfect. You trust yourself, you have responsibility for your own actions, that's what you do instead of trusting Government/corporations. No matter how good the government makes itself out to be you should never trust it. Take control of your own life and grow up. As for the last statement, if only that were true.
span>Slippery slope fallacy. You're paranoid, nothing more. Please don't go down this path; It leads to nothing but suffering. It reminds me too much of that other forum...
I don't care what this reminds you of. I'm paranoid of a very real threat, unlike terrorism.
span>Why would you even need a firearm for self-defense when out on the town? Do you live in a bad neighborhood and walk around at night?
In the event of someone trying to do something to you, or maybe even someone else. I'm starting to think that you believe that this world is a sugar coated utopia where the cops will always be there to save the day.
span>Maybe you're just paranoid. Avoid dark alleyways, don't go out at 3 AM, and don't make trouble, and you should be fine. No need to carry around a dangerous device that would probably do more harm than good. If you're really that fearful for your life, maybe you should let the police know.
What if I like to walk about that 3 AM, and do I do when trouble comes to me. Yes, tell the police that your scared, then what? Have a cruiser follow you around day and night? Have even more of your liberties infringed just because you want to be safe? Why can't we protect ourselves? Why do we have to have someone holding our hands all day long? I certainly don't want that and I will not have it.
span>And that whole story is exactly the problem with our country. That discrepancy in laws between states completely undermines any regulation of them. As such, federal laws are necessary. In my personal opinion, everyone should go through a thorough background check, a complete psychological examination, and a full course in firearms use and firearms safety before they can even touch a firearm. My dad said recently that you should only have a weapon if you're willing to kill someone or something with it; I have to agree with him on that, out of respect for firearms.
Of course, everything I just proposed would certainly violate the 2nd (based on how I read it), so it has to go before we can do this right.
Get what right? The complete destruction of every gun owners rights, and give criminals all the power? Your dad is actually correct on a certain level, what's the point of owning a firearm for the purpose of self defense if you wont have the willpower to squeeze that trigger when seconds count? I'm personally willing to do just that, if someone wants to invade my privacy and try to do something harmful to me, they will get shot if necessary. I don't think I would feel any remorse for that person.
span>I'm not discussing semi-automatic rifles, I'm talking about semi-automatic weapons in general. Also, murders are not my concern when it comes to firearms.
Then why have a concern at all? If suicides are your concern than why bother with guns in the first place? Wouldn't it be easier to fix a mental health problem than to put up with stubborn gun owners like myself, battle your way through congress to repeal the 2nd, when all you could have done was simply fixed the problem at the source: The people killing themselves.
Don't punish gun owners just because someone shot themselves with one. Also, shouldn't it be a personal choice to take your own life?
span>Like I said: Why so little trust? This isn't some evil boogeyman outside the castle walls: it's your fellow Americans. If it does happen, well, it'll probably because the majority wants it to happen. The government moves slowly; this slippery slope of lost rights a few of you imagine is just a logical fallacy built upon a wave of fear.
Get that idea out of your head, the Government ≠ The people. Fear that is completely justified, I don't want an overly militarized police force that raid peoples homes and hospitalize children. You really are delusional, aren't you?
You also have to understand that some of us, like myself, grew up with firearms and now own some. I think I was 10 when I fired an AR-15. And now, I own this beauty, looks terrifying, doesn't it? -

AzemOcram posted a message on Semi-Automatic Weapons: A PollI believe the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America should never be repealed. Once amendments in the Bill of Rights are repealed, you will know that the USA has fallen. Personally, I do not own any firearms, nor do I want to but I know several people who do use firearms, go hunting, go to ranges, and enjoy legal activities with their guns. I think it is fine for municipalities to ban certain weapons but the USA is a large and diverse country so I doubt that it will go over very well with at least half of the USA for a repeal of the Second Amendment. Anyway, there are probably more foreigners that want a repeal to the second amendment than their are actual Americans who want that.Posted in: Politics, Philosophy, News and Science

How about telling us the seed and Release used.
1
There is more unusual things about this seed.
1. Spawn is on a ONE tree island. This has been a very rare occurrence for quite some time.
2. The one tree is a short oak that yields 4 logs and, for me, 4 saplings.
3. There are no flowers on the island BUT there is a BEE NEST sitting on the ground beside the tree trunk.
The bees disappeared almost immediately.
4. Because the Amidst map showed spawn on a small island I created the world in Creative with a bonus chest.
I suggest you do the same. Otherwise you have a really difficult survival island.
The attached image shows the hive and one of the two bees I saw.
Not having a Silk Touch tool I left the Bees Nest alone.
I created this world twice with bonus chests and the contents of the chest was different each time.
The second image shows the contents of the second try.

"-2397601474324577736" Fantastic!!!! THANK YOU for getting back to us.
I was correct. Almost all randomly created seeds are 19 digits long.
Here's the Amidst map for "-2397601474324577736" with the mine in question located.
1
I certainly hope not. A fossil in a mine is, in my opinion, quite rare and something I want to see.
1
Once again, that seed "-239760147324577736" does NOT produce a world with a mine at -121 39 519.
Neither does "239760147324577736"
Please give us a screen capture with \seed displayed.
1
I agree. The first thing I do in a new release it turn off "Auto-Jump". It's truly annoying.

I suggest that you download Amidst v4.6, run it, select a VANILLA profile for the PCMC version you prefer,
and start hitting Ctrl-R. (the link is in my signature)
That will cause Amidst to display the biome maps of random seeds.
Ctrl-H in Amidst gives you the seed input dialog.
Amidst 4.6 works with MC Java releases 1.0 up to and including 1.16.5.
Hint: Place Amidst in it's own folder and create an empty file in that folder named "history.txt".
When Amidst starts up it will detect that file and from then on will log of every seed that it displays to the end of that file.
That way, if you hit Ctrl-R too quickly you can find out what the seed was of the previous map and redisplay it.
I use Notepad++ as my default text editor as it will update itself if Amidst adds a line to history.txt while it is open in a Notepad++ tab.
Performance note: If you are looking for a specific biome at spawn for a 1.13.2 and above world, I suggest that you run Amidst with a VANILLA 1.12.2 profile to search (the world maps will be displayed about 3 times faster than with later releases). Once you find a world that seems to fit your needs hit Ctrl-C to copy the seed to your clipboard and switch profiles to a VANILLA copy of your desired release and use Ctrl-N Ctrl-V to enter that seed back into Amidst and display the desired map.
BTW: It is possible to have multiple instances of Amidst running at the same time. I currently have one for 1.12.2 and another for 1.13.2, 1.14.4, or 1.15.2 running.
That way I can search random seeds quickly with 1.12.2 and if I see an interesting one copy and paste the seed into the much slower 1.13.2 / 1.14.4/ 1.15.2 instance.
https://github.com/toolbox4minecraft/amidst/releases
You can click on the icon in the lower right corner of an Amidst window and then select which biomes you wish to highlight, then click the inactive to change to active. Then start hitting Ctrl-R until Amidst shows spawn in the desired biome.
The seed "5722261026359646418" spawns you less than 200 blocks from a Flower Forest.
1
I just did a search of a 21w13a world around the spawn chunks from y=0 to y=255 and got 125 hits on minecraft:emerald_ore.
The lowest is at y=33 and the highest seems to be at about y=110.
However this is in just part of a mountains biome.
Edit: I just expanded my world chunks and searched again.
All 196 hits are at y=33 and above, all in Minecraft:mountains biome.
Highest seems to be y=109.
2
If you enter a number outside the range of a 64 bit signed integer Minecraft will send it to hashcode() and turn it into a much smaller number.
for example:
"-4411947967858395174" is a perfectly good seed.
add another digit to it
"-44119479678583951745" and hashcode() turns it into "-1662391674"
I've proven this with Amidst and also with my Hashcode() emulation spreadsheet.
2
This is an amazing seed.
In over nine years of playing Minecraft and monitoring this forum I have never seen or played a world that spawns you on or even has an island with three villages so close together that you can stand in one spot and see all three.
Seed: "-4060839488929676108"
Here are the Minutor views of the island n both 1.15.2 and 1.16.5.
I've checked that the island exists as far back as java 1.10.2.
Notice that the 1.16.5 version has a shipwreck on the sand bar north west of the main island.
Both versions have caves that go nearly to bedrock.
Both versions have most all types of domestic animals.
