Mojang's focus has changed. With the recent updates to other versions of Minecraft, it's clear to see that's the truth. So far, every version has an end, and the mojority have new things, like elytras and what not. There's really really cool skins available exclusivley to console and pe, and it's a shame that PC is restricted to a certain template. In the future, I feel like Windows 10 edition will be the prominant verision. What you dudes think?
I think the OP is dead on.
* Win10 does have custom skins. That "bad" MS even tells you how to do it: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-titles/custom-skins-minecraft-windows-10-edition
* The java version will become a "nitch" edition for those who love mods, macs, Linux, etc.
* Win10's add-ons will replace mods as the go-to way to customize the program. They aren't as powerful yet, but they're improving them and adding new features (there's already been one update to them). The 2 main advantages of add-ons over mods are 1) they're simple enough to DIY, and 2) they are not version specific (add-ons are not effected by updates to the game).
* Each edition will continue to get "exclusive features" that the others won't (or can't) have. The dream of there being one common Minecraft for all platforms just isn't gonna happen. Nor should it. Each edition of MC is a "real, honest-to-goodness" MC..... they're just "different".... on purpose.

Minecraft PC version is the same over all computer-based operating systems, there is no need for this.
