AWESOME macbros!! I have to try this.

Did you cover the original blocks? That would prevent new spawning- other than that, mob-cap could be at play here if you already have a bunch of animal farms and villagers elsewhere.

Sadly, no. You cannot create a biome; that is encoded into the seed data. - grasslands IS the plains biome I think, but are there trees?

It may have to do with how long you have been playing before saving. In either case, saving more frequently might help.

No. I think moo-shrooms will only spawn in a designated mushroom biome.

I think you can. Just wait until it is night; save and exit. When you go to load the game again, uncheck the day cycle option.

Alright Steve. It's been a week. How are you fairing? Did any of this help you out? Do you have any new questions? Are you ready to learn about redstone? Need to make a mob XP farm? Been to the Nether? The End? Have you danced with Jean? she can be coy, but get a few shooters (read 'arrows') in her and she's can be quite an 'experience'. Happy mining.

Gold Armor = SWAG!
Armor stands would be nice- then you could at least display them or have a 'golden guard' or something. Smelting them down might make gold too easy to get, pigmen already drop nuggets and are exploitable. Don't get me wrong- I'm on the same fence when it comes to throwing them away- they're so.... shiny!

That's good advice- and the reminder is welcome as I get lazy or forget sometimes (of course, that's when something gets lost- true story).
I use the built-in backup tool in the XMB and just put them on a thumb drive- and that way it's safe in case something happens to the PS3 and everything is lost.

That just made me think about actually having to 'pick' all of the blocks with the wii-mote and how Steve only uses his right hand (unless there's a map around and nobody's looking).... So you could easily spot all the MC-Wii'ers because their right arm would be three times the size of their left.

Battle area? You weren't fighting the dragon, were you?
Did you try to return to those beds later? Were they really gone?

You could try putting the torches on the ground or at ground level for better effect (wall block light levels do not determine spawn, only ground).
Creepers will spawn at light level 7 or less (and then they can wander into brighter areas).
Torches, glowstone , jack-o-lanterns and redstone lamps are among the blocks that emit a light level of 15. Each block distance away light level is reduced by 1 (in all three directions X,Y,Z) which makes it easier to determine if there is enough light (FYI: a brown mushroom will raise a block's light level by 1).
Learn all about light levels in the incredible Minecraft WIKI: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Light_levels#Light-emitting_blocks
EDIT: My bad... torches emit level 14 light.

Thank you Sadia... I'm not going crazy; at least not because of that!
Yes, I sometimes see blocks (or maybe the texture pack icons?) in the "online game" box or the < and > navigation arrows for the texture packs as well as the difficulty bar glitch. If I see that, i try back-tracking to the main menu and trying again or quitting and restarting. At least I haven't locked up since I started noticing and implementing those methods.

That output will also be 480p.
(sorry for the late response, internet out since last week)

Hi Steve.
Welcome.
The tutorial world can be very helpful getting you used to controls and teaching you the basic skills you'll be developing.
YouTube has an endless supply of videos, but be aware that different platforms and versions might not behave the same or have the same content and functionalities as the current PS3 version.
If you have any questions, the users on this forum can usually give you many solutions as well.
