What makes a good end stone texture? My pack is sort of a bleak/hellish theme while being "Faithful". so I tried some stuff like making some different black colored endstones but it always looks kinda weird... I think the skybox kinda throws me off? I don't honestly know.

I found it didn't stand out well, the default texture has solid black, putting for example a brown made it look like any other wood block. It didn't stand out aas a crafting table.

I did my crafting table :) not 100% happy with it, was hard to make it not look like a weird crate. I appreciate the vanilla texture a lot more now, the top "cloth" type thing hanging over the edge really ties it together. I coulda kept that but I'm really happy with the top part i did to start. Also bonus: The chests in the back

I don't know how i like this glowstone texture... looks like solid lava. Doesn't nessacarily fit into the pack either... But I'm not sure. I'm torn. Either way, my lava could take some notes from it.

    Bonus:

The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.

I'm pretty new to texturing but I've been working on this pack. A lot of it is vanilla edits/recolors but also a lot is new. It's 16x. It's supposed to be vanilla styled pack, with a bit of a darker feel and a bit of rpgish... orignally i was making just a few edits to make a nether map (cause default nether is horrible)

Obviously theres a few blocks that are an older version or just not changed yet. also a lot of blocks are minor changes you probably wouldn't even notice. But either way, enjoy! what do you think so far?

What if, when you attack it, each individual segment has it's own health (presumably 1 hit each) and it can split into 2 seperate worms if you attack it in the middle (like in real life).

    Intresting idea either way..

BUT a very related question: How does redstone texturing work? It seems like theirs no corner texture? From what I can see theres two line textures and a dot texture. From my observation, the dot texture shows up on the corner, and it seems like it takes two halves of lines in different directions to make corners? if that makes sense? What's the difference between the two textures? couldn't it be one texture?

Is there a way to do it? when I look it up, theres tutorials for mcpatcher, but apparently mcpatcher isn't out for 1.10? also can optifine do it? So far I've just been using optifine since it apparently supports most of the features... but is this one it doesn't?

Alright so first of all, wow everyone in here is hostile. Boths sides are pretty wrong IMO. As for me, I've watched videos of SHO and it looked pretty fun, I might buy a subscription if I had extra money but I don't. It has tons of cool features. I saw players working together, people using actual tactics to fighting mobs, scavenging for loot and saving up for plots, where they build makeshift huts. It honestly looked exactly what was intended to me, a super hostile MMO, which seems awesome. Obviously it has a few flaws, and I'll admit vechz isn't a terribly good builder, but he is getting much better, and this is obviously of much higher quality than any of his recent work. Although I love vechz maps alot, much of his recent maps had GLARING flaws. Inferno mines had too much god-damn loot, Black desert II had boring terrain that seemed like it got corrupted and then he tried to fix it up badly, and was entirely grinding mobs which were not that much different from each other. Waking up was SILVERFISH (besides that it's one of his best maps though I think). This doesn't have any glaring flaws that I can see. Besides being grindy, but what do you think an MMO is, and what do you think Minecraft is? This is meant not to be finished in a day and then wait for vechz to update it. AFAIK nobody has even completed the first dungeon days in. If vechs keeps it up, he'll have plenty of time to put more content in (I think he may have already). There is plenty of things for everyone to do, and casual players don't get left in the dust because of dungeon resets.

First of all I see fangride immediatly call out a list of features and personal attacks on vechz that he doesn't like. And he doesn't give any insight on what he actually dislikes about these features.

Also seems like smit just overall didn't get what he expected out of SHO, and he had a different vision when he heard of it. And that's fine. Personally, It surpassed my expectations by far. Granted I didn't have terribly high expectations because vechz recently hasn't been doing so hot.

And krose + co keeping calling out everyone saying that they can't have an opinion until they try it really escalated the situations. ITS OKAY TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS. I can agree with much of what they said, and respect that. If they have an opinion just back off. I can understand if you actually tried to dispute what they said like "Oh fangride, why do you think it's poorly designed?". But just trying to invalidate them completely is just kind of rude and escalating the situation.

Kaladun seemed pretty reasonable, he just seems highly skeptactle of the concept, but not unopen to it. He says he'll see after the hype dies down. And That's kind of a good idea. I can understand why. I'd be worried about vechz having deadlines, and how that will effect the quality of his maps/server which had already been on the decline.

Lastly, it seems fangride has forgotten that quality is relative to the person judging it, and that complexity=/=quality. It also seems he can't get over the fact that vechs made it. He can't seperate his opinions of the creator with the opinions of the work. I'm going to show you guys a painting.

Pretty good huh? Not the best in the world, but I have shittier art on my own wall. You know who painted it? fricken hitler. Now when I look back at it, it doesn't magically turn bad to me. Hitler was a terrible person, but that doesn't mean everything he ever touch was terrible. I could see my grandmother hang that on her wall.

Now fangride didn't only just say he didn't like it, but he started attacking the work, fans and creator. Huge difference. He is saying they are all fools being fooled by some big jerkface into getting some dumb project. Beyond that, I don't see his opinions on the project actually being presented in any sort of reasonable way. He just says it has bad aesthetics and mechanics. In my opinion, yes the aesthetics are kind of bad, but they are also good. It doesn't need to use 40 different kind of blocks mixed in with unique regional flower types and heavy erosion brushes to look good. But when you look at it, what do you see? I see stone, with grass resting ontop, with trees and bushes as well as mountains. He did what was intended. IMO the only major problem is andesite as the base block, I think it would look much better with grey clay or smooth andesite or something, because the texture does not go with the smooth one of the clay. Minecraft is a game about using your god damn imagination. If I wanted to look at fancy grass in my face I'd play rust or something. It's not the greatest, but in some area I was looking at it and thinking "wow that looks cool", especially in the cave areas. And while I agree with fangride that it does have pretty bad aesthetics, but I also think with a few tweaks it could be damn good. and it's not the end of the world to have bad aesthetics especially with great gameplay that IMO it has. A couple years ago everyone would have happily played this map thinking it looks awesome, cause thats what we had in the game. Now people have to mix in a thousand blocks and hide unique features around every nook and cranny to look good, they can't understand simplicity, cause the standard now is anything but. In the recent maps, I've had a damn hard time expressing myself because it's so hard to build on the landscapes because they are eroded to hell and have tons of detail I can't build anything that goes along with it, and they are so fast paced with custom content I don't have time to stop and breathe. On a simple map with some flat areas, the sky is the limit.

So basically, I'm on both "teams here" but some people were being kind of dumb nuggets about things and just generally being abrasive for no reason. Fangride seems to call out people for sheeping anything vechs releases, while he does the opposite which is criticize everything, as well as call vechz out for not being in the community, and just generally is butthurt and thinks that anything fancy looking HAS to be better (No opinions allowed) than anyone who uses a simple style. And Krose + co leave them alone they have a right to an opinion too, and can have one, I don't care if they are deaf and have had their head up their **** their entire life.

    TL;DR essay

I've tried Discordancy, and it was alot better than most other maps I've played recently but a few things bothered me about it (I don't remember what tbh) and i deleted it.

I will probably play minimalist, I forgot about that one and i wanted to play it

I'm not against different types of ctms I actually command blocks in certain situations and use them myself. I just don't like maps like terra restore for example where it feels like I don't need to build anything and barely interact with the environment. And theres all sorts of animations and stuff and unlocked areas, but then I don't have to do anything with the unlocked areas and don't spend anytime there anyway.

    Looks like ghouls

I'd expect them to be a random event (like full moon) or dungeon but I think they would fit in the normal mobs. I want to see what makes them different from skeletons though...

I'm having a weird problem with making spawners... after they spawn they turn back into pig spawners. All I did was place the mob spawner then change it to guardians in mcedit, but it seems it only works once.
