[[That question I asked. As soon as i hear the word empire I suddenly think about dragons elves humans and magic but in this it would just be humans stuck in the past.]]

((Most likely no. Also, what kind of history have you been learning if empire makes you think of that? :P If you want to RP something stuck in the past, I suggest not RPing here. I mean, just look at me. I'm the smallest, least stable of all these states. But I'm pretty sure no sovereign state would still be medieval era. Look at the conquest of Poland in WWII. If they try... It just doesn't work out.))

February 28, 2078: Vientiane, Laos, The Confederation

Kamon Vongchanh was at the ripe age of 23, ready to take on the world, or at least the non-Lao leaders of the Confederation. He certainly had the knowledge, charisma, and willpower to do it.

The only thing was that for now, he was stuck at a mere desk job in Vientiane. He worked as a clerk for the largest Laotian corporation that could operate both independently and internationally: Niyomkham Synthesis. Niyomkham was a company that manufactured and synthesized several nano-scale parts for some of the most cutting-edge computers and machines in the world. They were sometimes even contacted by independent European, American, and Pacific companies for their parts. For a company built upon the ashes of Fourth World War, and fully staffed and operated in one of the least stable places in the entire world, these sales to larger, wealthier, and presumably more advanced companies from some of the utopian countries of the world were quite the achievements.

But none of that mattered to Kamon. Before the war, his father, Sunan, had run a small, but thriving publishing business, devoted to the advancement and spread of national Laotian culture. During the war, he had made a risky choice to continue his publishing and to press his support for the Lao peoples, as he thought that the combined might of the Lao and the Thai would be unbeatable. However, when a huge joint American-Myanma-Khmer military force marched into Vientiane virtually unhindered, he suddenly became aware that his decision to continue his painfully obviously pro-Lao publishing business would make both his business and his name huge targets for the suppression of Lao nationalism. And huge targets they made. After the enemy forces fully secured Vientiane, and quelled most of the unrest, Vongchanh's Publishing was one of the first businesses to have their doors less than nicely knocked down and their owners placed under house arrest for questioning.

Thankfully for Sunan, his business was rather small, and only supplied a small community. After he provided a small amount of questioning, he was, in return, awarded with a small amount of money, presumably to help him take care of himself after the rude Americans seized his Publishing House and destroyed his business assets. So here he was, left in the streets of Vientiane, life destroyed and left with nothing but a diminutive fortune in his pocket, the clothes on his person, and a burning dislike for America, and later the puppet Confederation they left in the path of their destruction to try to mop it up.

This intense hate was passed on to Kamon, Sunan's only son, who grew up a bright and happy boy. He was a very smart young child, one that had the case where everything could pique his interest, and nothing could stop his mind from working. That was, until the date of April 1, 2065. In what could be seen as a cruel feat of irony, Sunan, who had since found a relatively well paying job as a teacher in one of Vientiane's new schools, was suddenly called to court, apparently sued for the propagation of pro-Lao literature and ideas. Sadly for both Kamon and Sunan, this was true. Sunan was sent to prison with a sentence of 50 years, and little did Kamon know that his only visit to his father, when Sunan was first sent to the complex, would be his last.

Kamon grew up a lonely child. His demeanor, manner, and formerly constantly happy countenance had all changed or disappeared. He was now a sullen child, living with a widow mother who was taking the grief of the sudden departure of her husband almost as poorly as Kamon was taking it.

But that was in the past. Instead, today, February the 28, 2078, will be marked as one of the most important days of Asian history.

Kamon Vongchanh was busy alternately tapping at his keyboard and taking a sip from his hot Sumatran coffee, fresh from Pacific Indonesia. He was presumably so busy, that he didn't notice the knocking at his door, nor did he notice when the man who was knocking simply walked in, without a word spoken.

*Ahem* The man coughed, hoping to gain Kamon's attention. And gain his attention it did.

"Yes?" Kamon asked, barely looking up from his work. So engrossed he was... Or was he?

"I take you to be Kamon Vongchanh? Only son of the late Sunan Vongchanh?" The new man asked, with a grim and almost emotionless tone that caught Kamon off-guard. The only thing that made him look up from his work, however, was one word in the man's statement that stayed in Kamon's ears.

"...Late?" Kamon muttered, throat dry, hoping for the best but knowing the inevitable words that would follow. And then he looked up. The man speaking to him was not a Confederate Official. He did not have the bright green uniform that was so common within the Confederate Capital of Siem Reap, and even was beginning to permeate the streets and halls of Vientiane and its buildings. Instead, he was wearing a much more discrete drab grey trench coat, and when he slightly opened his coat, a bright bronze badge poked out at him. Kamon gulped slightly with the realization.

It wasn't a Confederate Official. It was, if possible, even worse. The man speaking to him was a member of the Lao National Union, a notoriously illegal Lao nationalist party that was not against using violent means against Myanma and Khmer to garner their own support and independence. That was not to say that Kamon was against Lao nationalism. He was a full-blood Lao. It's just that Kamon didn't agree with the... unsavoury methods that the LNU used.

The new man again spoke, and he took a deep breath in preparing to do so, as if he were about to give a huge speech. "I presume that that means yes. My name is Khamla Sysavath. In case you didn't know, I'm a recruiter for the Lao National Union. And I know perfectly well who you are. This may not mean much, but your father was a great man. He was a true Lao. And I know that you are too. This is why I'm gifting you an invitation to join us, join the greatest political party to walk the grounds of all Laos. I am also here to give you a bit of news that might just make you consider your opinion. Not too long ago, the puppeteer state of the Confederation, United North America, is completely pulling themselves out of external affairs. They isolated themselves, and apparently they think that they can operate completely self-sufficiently... Well, any logical economist knows that that's not true, but I'm getting off topic here. The point is that the Confederation no longer has the backing of the Americans. If there ever was a time to strike, if there ever was a time to initiate a rebellion, it is now, when the foundation of the Confederation goes crumbling down. So join me, Vongchanh, join me for a free Laos. After all, we aren't really Indochinese, but Lao."

It was similar enough to a huge speech, and the few seconds Kamon took considering the offer seemed like hours, with Khamla standing patiently in the corner of Kamon's office. Kamon thought about Khamla's words. The Americans pulled themselves out of world affairs? Perhaps this really was the right time to honor his father, to once more become a Laotian citizen.

And the words that came out of Kamon's mouth next, the words that put a faint smile on Khamla's face, the words that, in only a few days, would catapult Indochina into disorder, and eventually civil war, came out without a moment's hesitation.

    "Yes."

A Dispatch from the Capital of the United Confederal Republics of Greater Indochina, Siem Reap
    To: United North America

We would like to inquire into your questionable withdrawal from world affairs. Surely you know what kind of an impact that will leave on several nations that depend on American funds, Indochina being one of them. Your withdrawal of economic and military support is a chilling occurrence that might end with the demise of several countries such as Indochina. We hope that you will rethink this statement. If you cannot, we respectfully ask for a reason why.

    Regards,

The Prime Minister of The United Confederal Republics of Greater Indochina, the President of the Confederal Republic of Cambodia, Phirun Sothy Soun

Arararara~ I hope you are still accepting. If not, then disregard this post.
    Name: Jan Håkansson

    Age: 14

    Gender: Male

Personality: Quiet. Prefers to listen than to talk. Oft gets lost in his own thoughts. He can get rather... Crazed, sometimes, though. Rest will be RP'd out~

Appearance: Blond, unkempt, straw like hair that reaches down to his neck. He has rather pale skin, and has a lean runner-like build. He has an odd case of heterochromia that leaves him with one brilliantly blue left eye, and one drab grey right eye.

Bio: (Optional) This slender Swedish boy has always been interested in the ideals of equality, law, and judgment, even from a young age, which may seem strange. And indeed he was strange. He preferred the companionship of his books to the companionship of humans, and would often spend the days within a courthouse in his small suburb of Lafayette, LA, or his own house, reading his books 'till the sun went down. All was calm in his life, and he liked everything just the way he was. That was, until a series of odd events involving a woman named Adikia and a few dozen old homeless men chasing Jan around Louisiana occurred, and finally ended with the appearance of a balding satyr, who quickly whisked Jan away from Lafayette to Camp Half-Blood. Overall, it must have been very confusing for Jan. [More detail might come via RP. This is just the bare basics of his arrival.]

Godly Parent: Dikē (Horae) [I understand that this may be a little bit difficult to put in, seeing as no one knows about Dikē, and if so, Athena would be a fine second choice for the Godly Parent. Or perhaps just place the guy in Athena's cabin, due to the similiarities between the two goddesses~]

Have you been claimed yet? Ha. No.

Weapon: Weaponry? Weaponry doesn't imply order~ [No] But one tool in his possession, that isn't quite a weapon, is a small, simple bronze mirror that he keeps in his pocket. [This next portion is not in character, and cannot be used in character until revealed later] This mirror will eventually be used for judgment, as its main purpose is to see both the sins and good deeds of each person Jan looks at through it. However, for now, all Jan can do with his little mirror is look to see whether the soul he is looking at is generally good or bad (indicated by white or black in the mirror respectively.)

Suggestions: A list of RPers in the OP would be rather nice~

Other: What in the name of Hades would you want here? I thought it might be fun to have a son of Dikē, as there are no real celestial powers relating to combat. All my guy can do is lecture and judge people (and find their sins). But I am glad to see this again~

EDIT: Epic theme song, cause who doesn't need one?

Back on topic, I claim most of what's left of SE-Asia, and I will edit this post soon.

Country Name: United Confederal Republics of Greater Indochina (UCRGI) [Saha’Roadh Soutenu Robâh Gromoeum Sovan-na’Phoum] [SRSRGSnP]

Form of Government (Democracy, Communism, Dictatorship, Etc.): Confederation/ Individual States have Direct Democracy

Present day borders (What country or countries now): Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma/Myanmar, portions of Yunnan, Guangxi and Assam

Description of Military (Uniforms, Weapons, Strengths, Weaknesses, Etc.): The standard Confederal Military Uniform is a pretty standard olive drab uniform.

Weapons are centralized on standard bullets, with a focus on heavy defensive weaponry/ big guns that shoot a lot, shoot far, and shoot strong.

Weaknesses: Soldiers are mostly untrained for space-combat and combat in foreign areas.

Strengths: Soldiers are capable of utilizing their knowledge of their home jungles to the max, taking guerilla warfare to a whole new level.

History (Bio of your nation): The joint Thai-Lao invasions of Burma and Cambodia sparked a minor regional conflict, that would eventually expand to engulf almost every world-power in World War IV. It was the newly formed state of United North America that would eventually stop the imminent destruction of both Burma and Cambodia. The Fourth World War started in the year of 2051, when the Republic of India and the People’s Republic of China joined the Thais and Laotians in their rout of the Khmer and Myanma. The immediate response was the joining of the Americans on the Khmer and Burmese side. After a few years, four, to be precise of the war, the tides had changed, and the Khmer and Burmese, with the help of the superiorly armed Americans, had completely dominated both Thailand and Laos, as well as occupied the Seven Sister States of India and much of the former Chinese provinces of Guangxi and Yunnan. The war ended in a humiliating defeat for China and India, and India was forced to give up its Seven Sister States, and China gave up its occupied territory. After the war, it was apparent to all that it would be very hard to divide the conquered land to both Burma and Cambodia, so the solution was simple. Combine them. The United Confederal Republics of Greater Indochina was formed, with the individual states of Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Yunnan, and Assam. Vietnam was later granted entrance into the Confederation, as it was, after the union, the weakest state in the nation, and the Confederation was happy to allow a new member state. The Confederation remained neutral during the fourth and fifth World Wars, with the exception of a few separate border skirmishes with China, and later the A.C.E. However, despite the huge industrial capabilities and technological advancement of the Confederation, it is overall a very unstable country. The Burmese, Khmer, and Vietnamese states are the most stable, prosperous, and advanced, followed by the Thai and Laotians, and finalized by the Yunnanese and the Assamese, which are the two poorest states in the Confederation. Open revolt is not uncommon in Assam, and there have been attempts for a breakaway state in Yunnan, however, all these have been quelled by the Confederal Army.

Military Strength (Amount of troops, Ships, Vehicles, Planes, Etc.):

    800,000 Infantrymen

    5 Reusable Spacecraft

    Fleet of 125 Ships

    Air Force of 750 Planes

    500 IFVs and 500 MBTs

Enemies (Nation you don't like? add them to your enemies): India.

Suggestions (Any Type of Suggestion): Map is coming.

...Alrighty. I just saw smiledog for the first time, and it didn't scare me nearly as much as that Jeff the Killer sequence with the screaming did. Maybe that's because it was at night... with my speakers up... Smart me. But I get scared easily, and my way of getting all that jazz out of my mind is to overload my mind with other information, AKA surf Wikipedia starting from a random country. Nothing there is half as scaring.
