It's the first day of the year 629 AD, in Asuka, the capital of Japan, and it will be remembered as the day that changed Japanese history forever. Prince Shōtoku, a proponent of Buddhism in Japan, as well as an excellent administrator, had been assassinated the day prior. It is only the morning of this day that the culprit has been discovered, and it's a discovery that would shock all of Japan. The culprit was revealed to be a man, but one of the likes of which the Imperial Court had never seen before. He had a peculiarly long nose, and upon further investigation, he was also discovered to have a small pair of wings on his back. Resolutely and valiantly refusing to speak, the curious man was sentenced to death and executed that evening.
Little did the imperial court know, that this crazed and curious being would just be the beginning of their troubles.
The next person to die in Asuka was an elderly and influential Buddhist monk, silenced in his bed by a clean cut to the throat, with an ominous message left attached to the knife.
"No longer shall the rights and religions of the Japanese be encroached upon by foreign Buddhist policy and influence. Japan shall remain free, and we Defenders of Japan will fight for our freedoms to the last breath."
The day of the second murder, the Imperial Court was in chaos. For two such members of the Japanese bureaucracy to have been killed so quietly and quickly, with the killings to have connections to a strange and almost fantastical man, there was a huge uproar in Asuka. It was immediately clear to several Buddhist monks in the area from just a quick read through the message that it was Shintō followers, opposed to the fast spread of Buddhism through Japan, who had committed the crimes. The Imperial Court was unwilling to argue. After all, they had to find a target, and fast, before the Japanese peoples would start to lose even more faith in them.
And so the Imperial Court issued a decision that would prove disastrous to them in the near future. They ordered the immediate arrests and banishments of all practitioners of Shintō in Asuka, in order to greater protect the Imperial Court and their interests.
Unfortunately for the Imperial Court, they were in for a huge surprise.
As the top members of the Imperial Court were briefing their army of their decision, wind blew at them from above. An unfortunate few looked upwards to see..
An army.
But not an army of the likes that they had ever seen before. Indeed, this army was comprised of humanoid figures, but those that had similar noses and wings to the murderer from just days past. There were hundreds of these figures flying, decked in all sorts of battle gear. Shields, swords, bows, armor, this army had it all. Floating up above the Japanese army was a much larger, and seemingly much angrier army. And after a few seconds of attempting to pick up their jaws from the ground, a few Buddhist priests recognized the members of the army. Recognized them as a fierce and violent race that, as enemies of Buddhism, they were trained to exterminate.
The army flying above them was composed entirely of Tengu.
After the fiasco at the briefing, the tengu and various other species of fantastical creatures, or yōkai, left their hiding spots to wage open war against the Buddhists encroaching on their territory. No longer were they afraid, and no longer would they let the Buddhists trample over them.

Is that Alice Margatroid? Regardless, your namesake spell card was quite tricky in IN. For me, at least.
