Is there anyway I can set a free Minecraft server to play with friends? like Hamachi

We generally recommend people not use Hamachi because it has numerous issues, squats on important IP addresses, and generally isn't very trustworthy.

You can download the server file from Minecraft.net (you might be able to download it directly from the launcher now, I can't remember) and run a server directly off of your own PC, however this does take a bit of technical know-how to set up in regards to port forwarding.

Even though you are looking for a free server, renting a cheap one is probably the best option for someone without the experience needed to set one up and doesn't want to use terrible software like Hamachi.

It is not, they are separate purchases. You would have to buy the Java version. If you want to switch and very recently got the Windows 10 version you may be able to get a refund for it but I cannot confirm that.

This forum is not owned by or affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft, and their employees do not visit our site regularly. Furthermore this section is to suggest new content for the game, not to vent about account security protocols you disagree with.

If you have an issue with your account or Mojang policies, it would be best to bring it up with them directly via support ticket or reaching out to an official Mojang/Microsoft account on a different platform. That is the most likely way to have your complaint addressed by the company itself.

posted a message on What's the highest fps I can achieve in these specs?

If you are on the lowest possible visual setting and using Optifine, I would say yes. but to reiterate what I said in your other thread, I would check the refresh rate of your monitor, because any FPS above your refresh rate isn't going to be seen and is effectively wasted.

posted a message on How to get more FPS?

It doesn't matter what his FPS is lower than, what matters is what his FPS actually is. But beyond that, aside from not using an HD texture packs or shaders (neither are mentioned one way or another), to increase FPS you'd need to lower render distance or upgrade the computer.

But if by "lower than 100 fps" you mean he hovers around 80-90, they very likely wouldn't notice much of a difference, if any, from going to 100+. The monitor refresh rate also matters, if the refresh rate is 60 Hz, then going to 100+ won't do anything for you anyways.

FPS is one of those things a lot of people obsess over, because "more is better", without really understanding why it is better, other limitations, and the diminishing returns associated with it.

posted a message on Thoughts about ability to turn off new features

Personally I'm not concerned about people that would let the name of a feature make them feel guilty about using said feature. That group is likely so small they are irrelevant compared to most of the player base.

That said, I do have more of a problem with inaccurate names for things, and agree that your label for the function sounds better.

    Quote from MrSomereS»

Hey, thanks for reply. Well i already tried to breed them next to hive but it did not work. I did not want to smash the original hive because of fear they would all sting me and die, but I may need to try it.

The bees are a little bit slow on the uptake from my experience. If you stay as far away as you can from the hive where you can still break it you should have time to turn and sprint away before they get close enough to attack you.

posted a message on The Element Update

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea itself, my main concerns are the elemental effects each provide. Ruby is partially redundant due to fire enchantments on weapons. Ice seems okay, but them freezing in place seems easily abused (freeze enemy, surround them by Lava while they are frozen). I could see a general slowness effect, but that makes the Slowness potion redundant. And lightning seems like it would be exceptionally overpowered, as you wouldn't be able to hold anything for very long.

In order to balance this, I feel like there need to be three hidden "element" bars that influence when these effects trigger. Basically the bars start at 0% and each time you get hit they go up X%. Say each hit does 20%, so you would need to hit someone with the Ice weapon 5 times before the effect triggers.

Additionally, the bars could decrease over time. Say at a rate of 2% per second as an example. That means you get rewarded for being able to apply pressure on an enemy, but the enemy gets rewarded by avoiding your attacks.

But I am worried that for normal mobs these would be mostly redundant, since even an Iron Sword can do plenty of damage to enemies without needing additional effects.

All aside I would love to see the idea evolve and want to give props on making a well thought out, well formatted thread. We need more threads like this in Suggestions.

posted a message on Note Block Sounds

I understand the problem, but I don't think this is the best way to do this, mainly because it requires additional wool colors, which requires additional dyes, additional ways to make the dyes (additional flowers?), but doesn't explain what those colors would be or any of the other things I mentioned.

I would rather there just be a GUI where you can set the instrument and the pitch. Just remove the entire system of placing blocks under them, because it is one of those outdated, obtuse systems that were common when Notch was the lead developer on the game.

posted a message on How to tame bees

You could destroy the original hive and then lead them to the new one, after you run away and let them calm down of course. Alternatively, I typically lead them to the new hive and then breed them near the new hive, and this usually keeps a couple of bees at the new hive.

posted a message on Naturally Spawned Nether Portal
    Quote from erictom333»

Wouldn't you then easily be able to find the structures they were in?

Depends. Maybe they exist in the Overworld, but have never connected to the Nether so you can't find them via Nether exploration. But they would probably need to be unlit to prevent you from finding dungeons in the Overworld by hearing the portal sounds.

I'm not opposed to the idea. Even though MC is a decade old and I personally have played enough to know most of the game mechanics by heart, my biggest problem with the game has always been that they do not communicate to the player in-game about a lot of the mechanics. Unless you were told or shown, you would *never* figure out how to make a Nether Portal from just playing the game, which is horrible game design. So having unlit portals found randomly in the world would be a good way to hint at it without giving too much away.

posted a message on Revamped Enchanting System, No RNG, balanced
    Quote from Xavion251»

As I said, the costs are just examples. The reason I gave them was not to scare away people who worry that removing the randomness would make enchanting too easy. Apparently, this had the opposite effect as everyone here seems to worry that my system makes enchanting too hard/grindy. Personally, I prefer a straight up collecting resources grind to a random roll-of-the-dice over and over grind.

My examples show that you could make the costs in this system massive to the point of making enchanting ludicrously hard. You could also make it super easy (level 5 + 1 Dirt Block for Fortune III), and anything in between. Obviously, I would not actually make enchantments cost 16 diamond blocks or 1 dirt block. It would be something in between.

That is a fair response. But you have to keep in mind that if you give an example, people will reply based on that example. That said, people will also reply differently if you provide no examples, making it a double edged sword.

Regardless, your clarification doesn't change how I personally feel about the idea. I don't mind the randomness because I believe that the only way you can make choosing your own enchantments balanced is to make it overly expensive or difficult to do so, so I'd rather keep it how it is and have to combine gear with an Anvil to get the best equipment.

I may wind up getting some crappy enchantments with the current system, but I'm much more likely to actually use that gear while I make my set of 'perfect' equipment. With the proposed system I would be more likely to just ignore using enchanted gear at all until I have the materials and XP to make a 'perfect' item (barring any enchanted gear I find exploring).

Considering filled buckets don't stack, this actually sounds slower and more tedious then just stacking a large tower of the powder blocks in the water and just mining the solid one at the bottom over and over.
