It doesn't, I am going to be updating so that the 1.15 version is the default for the server, as most people seem to be joining with 1.15

EDIT: Server is now running 1.15 as the default client

    What is Nostalgic Builders?

    MC.NOSTALGIA.NETWORK

The aim of our server was to ask, how could Minecraft have turned out
differently? We looked back to the nostalgic and well-loved version of
    Beta 1.7.3 from 2011.

NostalgicBuilders is essentially a remaster of Beta 1.7.3, running in modern 1.14.4. We've updated it, we've polished it and it comes with all the quality of life additions you're used to. We'll continue to update with the game, keeping the Beta vision alive.

Using authentically ported and updated Minecraft 1.7.3 terrain generation,
with modern blocks and items, we've updated the game to bring you the
retro Minecraft experience whilst retaining the quality of life
improvements and great additions of Modern Minecraft.

You can now experience Beta 1.7.3 with horses, flower forests, deep oceans, better boats, fireworks, stonebricks, and more!

As the server is built with modern Minecraft in mind, we can keep up to
date with new additions, whilst still creating an authentic experience.
We use plugins to tweak and fix the game to bring it to life in retro
    style.

posted a message on Beta+, Generate Accurate Beta and Alpha Terrain with modern features!

Hey man! This is looking great, I've really missed the beta terrain since coming back to modern MC.

Is it technically possible to reproduce the old temperature system and terrain colours? The blending of biomes and the grass tones in beta 1.7.3 are great compared to modern minecraft. The colours of old beta were a big part of the overall look.

If you wanted to get things closer to Beta I think it would be good to drastically reduce the number of trees in the savanna biome, or add in a beta savanna biome that emulates the old appearance. The savannas in modern look a lot different than old beta ones so it can throw off the look you're expecting.

Do you know of any mods which bring the lighting closer to beta? Beta seems to have a lot more AO than modern, things feel a bit washed out nowadays.

Also, another nice thing to have would be the ability to reduce the amount of tall grass. Older maps look a lot different when the blocks aren't covered in grass.

Another thing I find is that the deep oceans are a bit odd with beta land, the beta 'oceans' are more like lakes. I think it would be nice to have an option to have the more lake like oceans back, or if there was some way you could get proper oceans while maintaining the beta style lakes, that would be great. A good solution IMO would be to have deeper oceans where monuments are generated, then keep the beta style oceans everywhere else (or just make oceans slightly deeper than beta but not as deep). Options to limit the amount of underwater shrubs would be great too.

Overall the work so far is great, I just think some additional options to be able to tweak things closer to a beta look would be great!

When trying to turn on the beta+ biomes I get this crash:
