Yeah, pretty much everything Larsurus and Mel said attributes to me as well. I got my start here, I think two and a half years ago now, and it's been a little shaky at times but I still enjoy watching the show and the now constant stream of ridiculously lengthy fan animations. Seriously, My Little Portal 5 is FORTY THREE MINUTES LONG. I actually still haven't finished watching the actual show, I kinda stopped in the middle of season 4 to catch up with school and haven't gotten around to watching it yet, lol. Filli Vanilli was where I stopped and I swear that episode will probably be one of my all time favorites of any show ever. I heard the finale was great, so I'm looking forward to that.
This thread (well, the previous thread) really did jumpstart my whole interest in the Internet in general, so I gotta thank you guys for that. It is sad to see that this place has pretty much died completely, but I'm mostly sure I'm friends with those of you whom I know on Steam or dA (I'll check to make sure though). I've gotten two best friends out of this show, and a lot of random high fives from strangers while wearing t-shirts.
It's been an odd, crazy, and overall awesome experience, and I am so glad I found out about this whole thing. I wish I actually talked to some of you more often, and kept in touch with those who left (Man I miss the likes of Boss and Faloxx still), but that's the way it goes. Wish you guys the best, I'm always on Steam and Twitter if you want to chat it up a bit or play a game.
Still gotta read FO:E though.

Jan 1, 2014Oh hey, someone finally finished a My Little Dashie film, instead of just posting a trailer for one!Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
Nov 26, 2013Oh boy, they've gone and done it and recognized each other.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
First it was The Hub.
and now it's the BBC.
Nov 23, 2013HALLELUJAH! It wasn't another meh season premiere! Glad I set my hopes low for this, and kept away from as many spoilers as possible.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts-Holy crap that could be best premiere. Seriously, I can't decide between S2 and S4.GG Hasbro. GG. 9.5/10. Congrats on the worldwide trending hashtag, hope the rest of the season is just as good. Man, they've hooked me right back into this show with two episodes.
-So much wonderful backstory. So much.
-The feels, oh god the feels when they sent Twilight back.
-Character development, and lots of it.
-The extremely surprising and welcome death of the elements as MLP's sonic screwdriver has now greatly improved this season's potential, now that they actually have to work for some sort of solution with the keys and stuff.
-The freaking darkness of this ENTIRE THING. Season 1, meh, it's kinda dark, could've been more if they focused more on Luna's banishment, but they didn't. Season 2, they all hate each other, about the same if not a little bit more dark than S1. Season 3, they KILL the villain. Now this, the entire episode was a panic and frenzy.
- It has what we have been waiting for for so long, actual history. We've been discussing this kind of stuff on here for how long now? Finally, they've included it in the show.
-Pinkie's humor has been very much improved over say Equestria Girls. Mostly more subtle, makes it a lot better. The entire episode's humor wasn't there much, but it wasn't meant to be and really it didn't need it. ---The ONLY THING, THE ONLY THING THAT I DISLIKED, is dang et, I thought we would get an entire new intro. Oh well, at least they changed it so we don't have a terrible vector.
-I didn't even really care about the lack of background ponies, cause frankly that's not why I watch the show :\ I did see Lyra though.
Summary: I am so happy that this episode didn't suck. They handled Twilicorn wonderfully. Character development, legitimate intenseness, so much happening all at once, it all makes it a really good episode. I for one welcome the new idea of a more season-long story, cause last year they tried to make it seem like they were doing something big, but it was just one thing that lasted for the last 2 minutes in the end.
Edit: I forgot to say this, but NO FLASH SENTRY. YES. THANK YOU STUDIO B. THANK YOU.
Oct 25, 2013I'm not spoiling it for myself, I'd like it to be a little bit of a surprise at least.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
Oct 10, 2013Welp, happy 3rd birthday FiM. To season four, and hopefully better days!Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
Sep 21, 2013Posted in: Culture, Media & ArtsQuote from Larsurus
I honestly don't know where I am in the fandom anymore. I lack the urge to draw, yet my mind is full of ideas for an epic fanfic that I'm desperately trying to find the will/inspiration to write down. I wrote a little today but I'm having trouble with descriptions.
I too miss "the old days" and all the people that have come and gone. I guess the sadness I feel about people leaving is part of the reason I don't draw anymore. I still check my dA account daily and I visit FIMfiction occasionally to check up on the stories I am following.
I've been trying to complete that terrible story I started writing way back in January of 2012. I'm on chapter 8 I think, and I've been writing future chapters instead of the next. It's weird that some of the people who started reading it all the way back then still read the chapter I put out about every few months now. Also, videos. I feel just so lazy doing them lately, I promised my next one wouldn't take more than 6 months to my subscribers (of which there are over TWENTY TWO HUNDRED NOW), but it's been 7 months now.
I cannot see myself simply discarding this fandom, not after having invested so much time and emotion into it. This thread is still my home in regards to the fandom, and that is mainly because of the people in it.
No, no I don't either. I don't see how anyone who's been in this for more than a year REALLY could. It's just too much to ever forget.
Still looking forward to S4 (anyone got the date for it?).
November 23rd (62 days, 11 hours)
Brohoof to ya'll
EqD just hit 400 million views. We're a little bit less than 1/4th as popular as Gangnam Style now. Also, interesting comment on the party post on there:
EQD reached 100,000,000 hit on 11 January 2012
EQD reached 200,000,000 hit on 22 June 2012
EQD reached 300,000,000 hit on 12 January 2013
EQD reached 400,000,000 hit on 21 September 2013
6 months, 6 months, 6 months, 8 months. Interesting.
Sep 21, 2013As more and more people continue to leave and not have anything to do with this fandom anymore (Tons of people on this thread who I greatly miss I.E. MrBossMan, Dimondium, Tehalphagamer, Faloxx, even those that still post extremely occasionally (Larsurus, Nerevar, Rumblealex, and ermahgerd i forgot Vividkenz) Also personal close friends, IRL and online. And lastly, the people who's content I watch. I still genuinely love seeing a good PMV or video or story or post or animation or ANYTHING these days. However, with lots of them going too (Galaxyart, and just about 30 minutes ago, Calpain of EqD (best admin on there imo)), I question my own presence. I seriously am almost shedding tears trying to remember all of the people and friends I've made through this fanbase, and about how many of them of which I have no idea where I could find anymore.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
So thank you guys who still post on here often, and have been for such a long time (Looking at you Blaze, Aaron, and Seawry specifically). This thread is still something that convinces me to continue with my enjoyment of pastel horses.
(sorry if that was slightly off-topic (also lots of parenthesis))

This is a fresh start because of lacklustre rules and chatting going on in the last one.
Lots of rumours and out of context made quotes about me closing this permanently has been false. I first look at a problem, identifying the issue and resolving said issue. In this case I believe the issue to be vague rules and thus I'm clarifying them here.
- No NSFW stuff EVER.
- All global rules apply, naturally.
So with that in mind, have fun talking about all things pony. If you wish to discuss the changes here then make a thread, or use a thread if it exists already, in Forum Discussion & Information. Do not discuss it here.
Post #2 will be the container for all relevant FAQs, server details etc. so ownership might change.
Thank you for your patronage and have a nice day now.

I've seen topics upon topics of free software, textures, models, etc. That everybody has tried here. I'm sure that pretty soon if you don't bookmark the link it becomes pretty difficult to find that program you like but was too busy (or lazy) at the moment to bookmark or download. So I would like to make a list of all the FREE SOFTWARE AND SITES useful for making MC videos. It can be audio it can be video compositing, model making, textures, whatever! But remember it has to be 100% FREE. So if you find something you think everybody here can use please post below and I would be delighted to post it up here on the first post! This is free software for the making of Minecraft Videos. So anybody who is interested in making a video can look in this list and maybe find something that can help them. Enjoy.
Please note as the list gets bigger it will be modified so remember what you see today doesn't mean it will be there tomorrow!
The links have been colored according to their classification so they can be easily identified!
If there is a program/site that has two or more classifications it will be posted under the Utilities section.
Programs are not guaranteed to work on your operating system although most of them should.
Mac compatible programs will be marked with a .
Linux compatible programs will be marked with a .
However check the program you are interested in anyway. Who knows? It might be Mac or Linux compatible by now!
If you see a program that is Mac or Linux compatible in this list please let me know.
Trials will not be accepted in this list. If you find one please notify me.
If it's not too much trouble. Please don't forget to vote in the poll above and click on the little green arrow button under my post!
This list is updated at least once a month.
3D Modeling/Animation Programs and Models
1. Google Sketchup
Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create 3D models of anything you like. You can build models from scratch, or you can download what you need. People all over the world share what they've made on the Google 3D Warehouse. It's a huge, searchable repository of models, and it's free.
Blender is a 3D graphics application released as free software under the GNU General Public License. It can be used for modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, water simulations, skinning, animating, rendering, particle and other simulations, non-linear editing, compositing, and creating interactive 3D applications, including games. Blender is available for a number of operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.
3. Organica 3D
This program takes the metaball concept, and applies it to blocks of different shapes. Its great for organic and natural shapes. I use it for caves and stone arches. No texturing here, so texture it elsewhere. It can save a mesh as 3ds, whick you can import into Sketchup or other.
This is a nice modeler that does subdivision surfaces. Very much like Silo, but free. It has a lot of interesting modeling tools, and does texturing and animation (with bones) as well. This is what I apply textures in because Sketchup is not the greatest for that.
This is the terrain modeler I usually use. It uses a grayscale image for a heightmap, but then applies textures based on things like elevation and angle. Can have as many different textures as you want. The texture and mesh can be exported at any resolution. Saves 3ds for Sketchup import. Hint. Always use the smooth command in Sketchup, and then omit back faces when you import into MW.
6. Genetica Viewer
Don't let the viewer name discourage you, this "viewer" creates all kinds of textures based on templates (has about 200 or something). The tiles it creates are seemless, and can be saved in several resolutions that are appropriate for MS.
For making fantastic virtual terrain using Vue Pioneer which is free to download and use.
8. 3Dvia Shape

Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

Synfig Studio is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS X.
18. Insight 3D
It lets you create 3D models from photographs. You give it a series of photos of a real scene (e.g., of a building), it automatically matches them and then calculates positions in space from which each photo has been taken (plus camera’s optical parameters) along with a 3D pointcloud of the scene. You can then use insight3d’s modeling tools to create textured polygonal model.

Transcoding on a Mac is a serious pain, especially since MS only supports very limited codecs and only the AVI container format. As of this post (Feb 22, 2010.), the only video format that MS is supposed to handle for adding video to prims is MP42 in an AVI container. This is what it generates when it renders it's own video.
There seems to be a bug in handling this on Mac platforms though because adding video to a prim doesn't always work. Download this tool to fix it. Instructions below:
The download instructions ask you to download mpeg2enc.intel and a tar file containing mplayer and mencoder. They fail to tell you to unzip the archive and select the unarchived binaries during the installation phase, so the steps are:
1) Download ffmgepX (IMG file) and mount it, drag it to the Applications folder.
2) Download the mpeg2enc.intel file.
3) Download the gzipped tarfile of mplayer and mencoder and unarchive it.
4) Run ffmpegX from the Applications folder and when it asks for the installation location of these files, use the finder browser to locate each file separately, even though it says to locate the tar file for both mencoder and mplayer.

Jun 2, 2014It is a shadow of what it once was. The brony community here really was something special back in the day. This was where I was introduced to the show, saw wonderful art, listened to music, read incredible fanfics, and discussed poni-pone with cool people. But it's just not here anymore.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
Sometimes I think I should move on, however it can be hard leaving such a nostalgic place. But maybe it is finally time. I've been over three years and I've loved every moment of it. Thanks for making my life better, guys. You all made my dark days a little brighter.
After all, an ending can also mean a new beginning.
If any of you ever want to contact me, PM me or add me as a friend on steam.

And now related and unrelated, in that order:
Oh the joys of having comprehended PaintTool's stabilizer feature.
Jan 1, 2014The episodes for Season 4 so far have been 'fun', but I find myself not liking the season very much. Besides the pilot episodes, nothing has really happened. Each episode is just a random story with some events for the girls to figure out, with no real substance to them. It's kinda disappointing.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts

Dec 16, 2013I have two things for you guys. The first is a very dark and gritty song. I really like it:Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
The second is something I drew. It's been a while since I made something, and I'm pretty happy with the result. (Keep in mind this is the first background I've drawn) I hope you guys like it.
On Reddit, someone asked me to draw, "Twilight in Dark Souls, staring at a message with a confused expression."
Nov 23, 2013Blazevoir posted a message on My Little Pony : FiM (All Pony-related things go HERE)Posted in: Culture, Media & ArtsPart 1:
- Minor change to the opening while still using the same song... Bleh.
- Random new evil...
- Are they seriously gonna bring back the Elements of Harmony AGAIN to try and solve a problem? *sigh*
- Lol Discord and Winter Wrap Up XD
- So Luna loses it... or DOES she?
- Ohhhhhhhhhhhh snap, epic flashback to the past!
- Another flashback involving Discord. Okay, now I'm expecting more flashbacks later.
- The Tree of Harmony... Random canon addition, whee
- Bit of a quarrel with Twilight and company... Still, they had a point.
- 6 keys... Is this season gonna focus on them?
- Maid Discord... Oh boy, more possible unwanted fanart...
- Discord teaching a lesson... My mind, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Overall summary: So this all started because of something Discord did in the past, huh... Regardless, it was interesting seeing him again. I'm not sure how I feel about the Tree of Harmony being randomly added, but then again they DID try to cram everything within 40-ish minutes, so I guess it's expected. The six keys that they'll need to find... does this mean this season will be less slice of life? Furthermore, I wonder how many more flashbacks they're gonna show; I really liked the Nightmare Moon one.
I'm sure they're gonna focus on Twilight trying to handle her new duties (yay, major character development!), but I wonder how they'll handle that with each episode. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
