I thought it was obvious that expert users was a joke and he means anyone that knows how to access the Minecraft directory. Obviously some people aren't "expert users". Or maybe I'm completely misinterpreting it.
im a but confused on what the problem is but you could try searching your whole computer for Server.txt or what ever
I'm doing that again right now, but it didn't work last time (I have no idea why. I'm searching all hidden/non-indexed files as well).
The only problem is that until I locate where its pulling these save files from, I can't back up any of them or run any scripts or anything.
EDIT: Issue resolved. I don't know how to explain it, but the files were all in my program files/ rocket dock folder. If anyone else happens to have this issue, just check other programs folders I guess.
.. Because running things from downloads is running things from a temporary folder, or the downloads folder. The former is more likely if you're not on vista/7, and that means it's in a temporary folder where things get deleted after a bit of time. Or being moved around a lot.
Right, but when I search for them I'm not getting anything. Any idea if I need to search for something besides just the world folder or server.txt property file?
Thanks.
EDIT: Also, it must be in a temp folder, because my default downloads folder has the .exe and it just makes it's own level when I run it from there.
I just downloaded my server to the default administrator/downloads folder on vista and ran it from there. Everything is fine, but after reading this and thinking about importing a level, I'm having this problem: I can't find my level for the life of me. Or the server properties, for that matter. The exe is in the folder, but I can't find anything else that's been modified today or even resembles the server files that have been generated. Is there any other folder it could have defaulted to? Thanks.
I Suggest that you re download the server software but this time before you run it make sure its in its own empty folder so you know which files belong to it and which dont (Minecraft_Server Creates some of its own files) then once its in there then rune Minecraft_server and it should create the world thats set in the properties files.
I tried this, but unfortunately is just created a new world. I still can't access my old map.
I went ahead and made a new thread on the support board, since this is sort of off-topic here. Thanks.

Where does the storyline start? I went to first building, but it seemed to already be going. Did I miss anything?

Cliff Racers would be awesome, but I assumed he was joking about them. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm guessing a few new items, maybe a new mob.
