Ok, this won't make any sense but....changing the ids of Artifice with the ID Resolver......causes Project Red to crash Minecraft!(I tried it twice! The game didn't crash when I didn't change the ids)

    Yeah....what the heck?

posted a message on [1.5.1]ID Resolver (Finally updated!)
    Quote from AUTOMATIC_MAIDEN

Hello, I have written my own version of ID resolver for 1.6.2.

It resolves ID conflicts for blocks, items, and enchantments; automatically without need to click that "assign all ids in reverse" button. You just put it into mods directory and it makes things work.

It's a simple mod with only three classes; no gui, no special config, just one file with a list of registered IDs.

I'm not sure if it's ready for release, but it does work with a bunch of mods I downloaded. It's also a bit faster: for my list of mods, with ID Resolver it takes 31 seconds to launch, while with my mod it's 24 seconds.

If you want to try the early version, here: http://www.mediafire...1.6.2-1.0.0.jar

    O.o

I will bookmark this for now!

But you better create your own topic once you are more sure about the mod!

While you are at it, consider adding an option that will make the chances for the drops equal!

Some people like me believe that rare drops should stay rare for balance purposes!

    Quote from AUTOMATIC_MAIDEN
the more rare the block is, the more likely randomite will drop it.

This so far is the only reason I haven't yet used your mod!

Really like the idea of the mod, and what I've managed to play around with. However, I'm having a major issue with it. (The 1.5.X version specifically, as my game is 1.5.2)

Firing up Minecraft with ID Resolver (User updated) won't even allow me into the start menu.

    About that...

NOT changing the ids with the ID Resolver should fix the problem temporarily!

This problem can be fixed permanently if the mod's creator changes the coding a bit!

Some of us don't like all the features, or we might wanna sometimes to disables some ores or biomes from generating any more, etc.

I agree. It is wonderful that Mojang acknowledges modding-although, I should probably point out that modding (and mods) are likely 90% of their stock. If it weren't for mods their game wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is...

    I....will have to agree!XD

    Quote from Master_Aricitic

Firstly, most mods are unstable mostly because Minecraft is designed to NOT be modded. Fact.
Minecraft, while coded in Java is actually coded against Java. Java itself is designed to be extremely extensible (a.k.a. moddable, manipulable, changeable, used in different ways, etc) and as such if coding correctly in Java the coded program itself will be able to do the same. Unfortunately Minecraft is not coded correctly in Java (Obfuscation adds to the problem, but only MINORLY) and is basically coded as though it is C, C++, BASIC or even Assembly.

I admit I didn't know that...and most of the other stuff you talked about!

I do study Java but...well....I suck @$$ at it!

    Quote from Master_Aricitic

Also, did you look up any 'helpful' resources about installing 'lots of mods'?

    Not really!

    Mostly trial and error!

Of course, I did post any error reports on the mod's creator's thread, and searched for solutions on Google!

    Quote from Master_Aricitic

Yeah, I'm not going to pity you for not being able to play mods... If you really wanted to play them then you would have tried them without the other unnecessary mods... Even if that means having multiple vanilla Minecraft.jars on your computer.

I do have multiple vanilla Minecraft.jars in my computer! :P
    Quote from Master_Aricitic

AND, if you are one of those people who whine about a single feature (or a small set thereof) that are so-called 'overpowered'

    Huh?

It doesn't have to be something overpowered!

    It might be a mob!

Or the mod might modify a vanilla feature!

    Etc.
    Quote from Master_Aricitic

Didn't number 4 say that after you updated your FPS was decreased? Hm, I may have misunderstood that...

Yeah, I didn't explain this one all that good!

    Here's the story!

My laptop is not all that good!

With around 100 mods, optifine, low settings, etc. I run Minecraft on around 45 fps, sometimes 60 fps if there are not much stuff happening around me!

One day, I ran Minecraft, and I see my fps dropped down to 15-20!

Even though I said a mod caused it, I'm not 100% certain what caused this huge drop in performance!

However, that problem never appeared again on other fresh installations of newer versions of Minecraft, so I just assumed that it was a mod!

How didn't I notice it before when I was updating mods?

Well, at the time I had my browser running and that decreases fps significantly!

I never thought that a mod might actually decrease performance, so I didn't notice until days later when I finally ran Minecraft again!

It is. Though it's made easier by using NEI to do an ID dump, so you can see where your empty IDs are.

You either run only a few mods, use a mod pack, or just are very lucky with your mods!

I cannot go through 10 mods without encountering a crash or a bug/glitch!

If you are so eager to get updates, then you are patient enough to manually edit the IDs.

Wo wo wo wo wo wooooo!!

    No!

    No, I'm not!

    And I'll explain why!

Maybe that method works if you have like 20-30 mods!

    Try it with 60-100+ mods!

Some people think installing mods is as simple as throwing them into a folder, running and exiting Minecraft, then changing the conflicting ids!

    It's not!

Most mods are unstable and can easily go nuts, especially when they meet each other!

My first attempt at installing several tens of mods with the Id Resolver, back in 1.3.2, took me about 1 MONTH!

I ran into several problems, whether they were bugs, mistakes of mine, or just crankiness!

Here are a few of them:

    1. Of course, the first problem was picking the mods themselves!

    And then, the features!

I don't always like all the features of a mod!

I have to check the mod, see if there is a feature I don't like(it's common for a mod's topic/wiki to not have all the information about its features), if there is, see if I can disable it!

    2. Some mods require specific ids!

    3. Sometimes the game cannot handle the generation of a lot of structures and it crashes!

    4. Once, an update of a mod that I didn't manage to locate, decreased my fps significantly!

    5. A mod will crash simply because it conflicts with an other mod, even if neither mod modifies base classes!

    6.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!KILL THEM!!!KILL THEM BEFORE THEY LAY EGGS!!!!

    7. Some mods don't work so well with certain versions of forge or other apis!

These are just a few examples!

I had my share of failures, mods that I never got to play so far and I want to!

ID Resolver only helps making a difficult and super time consuming process less tiring and time consuming!

    It's a very important mod!

Staying in an older version isn't as simple as it sounds!

    Mod updates are very important!

They fix bugs and add more features!

Or else you might encounter the same problem as in 4. that I encountered, for example!

Or... You could avoid being on the 'bleeding edge' of Minecraft development and stay at 1.5.1 or 1.4.7 (those that have been 'proven' stable...)

    Just putting it out there...

    And having no mod updates....

Long story short, I'm not gonna cry for an update, but it looks to me like ShaRose has been burned out for quite a few versions now!

And this has become quite the important mod!

    Maybe someone should help ShaRose!?!
