May 5, 2012Axman10 posted a message on Mojang Needs Your Input - The New Multiplayer FormatEveryone in here that is complaining about mods that need to be updated. Please stop. Every game gets updated, and every games mods need to be updated with it. All mods will need to be rewritten when the mod API comes out anyways, so no point in complaining about it now.Posted in: Minecraft News

Jan 24, 2012Go to your .minecraft folder. On windows this would be "C:/Users/USERNAME/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft". Go into the bin folder and rename "minecraft.jar" to something like "minecraft_old.jar". Then place your minecraft.jar that you downloaded in that bin folder.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Jan 23, 2012I prefer the new sounds. I'm pretty sure creeper have the same explosive power as before, although I may be wrong. Forests are intensely large in 1.0, way more than any previous version. I had never before seen a golden apple until this recipe was added, so I think it's a necessary change. The golden apple was pointless to me before because they just weren't there. Althought you probably haven't played it yet, the zombies in the latest snapshot have a new AI system. They are much more difficult now that they can get to you wherever you are. And there's more too come in the AI department.Posted in: Discussion

All you people who say downgrade can go away, I am asking for the old things back, not wanting to downgrade!
That doesn't make any sense. You are asking for the old things back, right? That would be the same as saying, "I want to play a previous version of Minecraft", right? Well we are telling you how to do that, downgrade. If you don't want to accept that you CAN get those old things back, then no one can help you.
Dec 31, 2011I've never had a bad new years because it's not that big of a deal to me. I usually don't even do anything for new years. Maybe watch a movie with friends but nothing more than that.Posted in: General Off Topic
I'm not the kind of person that thinks "going to parties makes me cool". And my friends don't have any sort of leader..

Ok, lets think about this logically. When you make a door out of you bare hands with wood you punched off of trees, the doors won't be super quiet when you open/close them. TNT is also more realistic. The old one was more of a pop. This is actually like a explosion. Theres not that much of a difference anyways. What, so, every time you blow up TNT so you can destroy something, you'll be like "Oh, my, gosh! This sound is so stupid!"? Who cares if a little thing like sound is changed? Yeah we had this since indev, but are you really sad about this little change?
Thinking logically, the doors are made completely out of wood in the game. So, it stands to reason there will be no squeaking.
Usually, when wood starts to squeak it usually means enough ash has built up to glaze over the wood, and would probably not be too far from catching fire if it were to squeak with a sound closer to metal.
So, logically, you would think a door made entirely out of wood not squeak like an old man's walker stuck in a meat grinder.
-- I see where you are coming from with your argument, the original sounds were a little muffled, but the coutner-argument is that they didn't need changing. The sounds were iconic with the game, and now that's changed there is a disturbance. In reality, the new sounds took away the iconic and meaningful sounds of Minecraft. It's similar to remaking all the Star Wars, but all the light saber swooshes are "Ziiiiiiip SHAP SHAP!" instead of the iconic "Bwaaaaaaaaaa SHBA SBHA!"
Why change something people could have invested money into? People could have made many vanity goods with the original sounds in it, but now they all seem pointless because they aren't the actual sounds of the game. Back to the Star Wars example, imagine how many people would be pissed about the light saber sound changes especially when they had grown up loving the old ones and even bought some of the original toy light sabers which make the iconic sounds. I'd be right pissed if my old light saber became irrelevant and "That thing that made the old sounds."
When it comes to iconic sounds/images, one single change is a big problem. Merchandise revolves around those things, and changing stuff just because it's dated usually ends up costing a lot of people money, even though it may be "little thing like sound", it still brings a lot of negative repercussions.
So... Why change what isn't broken?!
Edit: Also, your sense of realism in video games is very stubborn and single-minded. Video games shouldn't be all real, otherwise we wouldn't play them -- we would just live life, because that's as real as it gets. Video games are supposed to be realistic enough to break the gap between our world and a new world whose physics and beliefs are skewed only slightly, as to allow our connection to the game world.
Pac-man for example is not realistic, neither are the goals, but the game became a huge success in gaming history.
Really, realism in gaming should only be determined by the goals allotted, and the goals of Minecraft are two things -- to build and to explore. If everything was "real" and had gravity, the building aspect of the game would be so diminished, why even play it? If it was so "real" that the generation made oceans so large and empty that you had to generate a dozen world to finally hit land, then the exploration aspect is diminished. (Why explore the ocean when nothing is in it? Seems like a waste of a possibly good seed.)
Realism is a give and take to the gaming world. It is dependent on goals alone. Realism for the sake of realism is pointless by definition, but is mostly a factor that must be contained or else it ruins the gaming experience by making it too much like the "ordinary" aspects of day to day life. Games are designed to break away from every realistic law and allow for an amazing experience.
Thinking all things should be realistic or not realistic at all to be a better game is narrow thinking, and for a building game is often the greatest limiting factor in making something beautiful.
Don't ever think it terms of what we already deem real or not. Just because one thing is unrealistic and not addressed for being so doesn't mean that some things that are too absurd shouldn't be addressed either. Usually, if it is left alone, it means it is enjoyed for flavor and uniqueness, despite it being unrealistic.
Things like unrealistic potions are cited for having flimsy mechanics and not just being unrealistic. The two often come hand-in-hand with one another. Sounds won't break how you play the game, so that's why this isn't an instant change-back, but potions can drastically change the gameplay, so more attention to their place in the world and realism should be addressed.

Although you are correct in that they initially help with dividing up land, I find that after the server (or even single player world) gets a little on the large size the oceans become a hassle. Nobody wants to take a boat for 15 minutes to just find some more land to build on. This being said KasaraEm13 brought up one of the most popular solutions to the "problem".
One could easily travel faster by going through the nether, but more importantly: Oceans are supposed to be difficult to cross. I don't know any other way of saying this except: It's an ocean. It's supposed to be huge. It's supposed to be an obstacle. If some people think they should be tweaked, I think that's a mod job.
Tbh I have a hard time sympathizing with people who complain about where they spawn or about the world they're in. It's so easy to just pick a new seed until you find something you like.
Dec 6, 2011The water provides a nice natural border when sectioning off land in SMP, and I think they provide an excellent exploration opportunity.Posted in: 1.0 Update Discussion
I love the big oceans. They feel like oceans. Seemed like the MC world was all lakes and ponds before.

Yes, I didn't realize this was in the "clan" section. I didn't even know there was a clan section until now. So if I understand correctly now, you have new people come to your server to play with and you help them out if they need help?
Pretty much. I teach people how to dig and help the people out who have no tools at all.
Nov 22, 2011Posted in: ClansQuote from Axman10
I don't understand what your post is about. You go to people servers and make them diamond tools? And what does this have to do with a car?
It has nothing to do with a car, its just a name. The purpose of the clan is to help new members and help the less fourtunate people.
Nov 22, 2011Before you ask, the clan doesn't have anything to do with a car. It's simply just a name.Posted in: Clans
What do we do?
HAD (Honda Accord Digging) digs for rare materials, mainly to help the less fourtunate people in game. for example, if anyone needs some type of tool, we can make it for them. Depending on what you want, you must trade something worth something close in value.

Co-leader: If the leader is unavailable, the co-leader will take his place.

Order-taker: Takes orders of what people want. (We will need at least 4 of these)
More ranks added very, very soon. If you have any rank ideas, put them in a reply!
We need more people!
