posted a message on Installing Mods on the New Launcher
    Quote from TheMasterCaver»

This guide needs to be updated; you have to edit the json file to remove "downloads" for the client jar, as demonstrated in the following link; I figured it out myself before seeing this bug report and have not had any problems; to be safe, I've made sure to back up the original json file for 1.6.4 (the version I still play on and mainly mod; I discovered it when making a cave mod for 1.9), which still works despite having none of the "downloads" sections (the original 1.6.4 json is only 3.5 KB, compared to 11 KB for the new one):

MCL-4334 Minecraft gets reinstalled everytime you launch it

If you have any old modded installations you can copy the json files for them and rename them as appropriate (assuming you want to mod the same version of course; I've seen people successfully use jsons for different versions though, although this likely won't work across versions with significant changes, like 1.7-1.8).

P.S.: Despite whatever you have heard, this or any of the other "bad" changes made to the game recently have nothing whatsoever to do with Microsoft.

Also, I'm wondering if anybody has a "barebones" mod installer similar to the ones used by Optifine and Forge, which do not have any issues with all of this and would be really nice to use; for example, something that I could just add some class files to and edit a configuration file for a profile/mod name to use when installing (I suppose I could hack the one Optifine uses; I've decompiled the 1.6.4 Optifine-modded jar before; but sp614x might not be happy if I used it to distribute mods even if there is no actual Optifine code present, only the installer. That said, many people do not have nor want to install Java (not the Java that comes with the launcher) just to install a mod).

I was wondering if you could send me the old json file or upload it somewhere so I can download it.

EDIT: Scratch that, turns out it's just that little section not every download area.

EDIT 2: Doesn't seem to work for forge. The jar is not redownloaded but simply transferring the files in the universal jar that is given to the modified version does not work.

posted a message on How to install OptiFine manually?
    Quote from Slakkerag»

You have to remove some text in the .json file. You can probably find instructions on google.

I did that as well. The only problem is is that the jar file has none of the OptiFine components (compared what is inside stock and given OptiFine installer/extracted jars). The removal of text and the addition of some means the following: inheritFrom line means that it gets the same libraries that 1.9.4 uses, the version is meant to use outside libraries/assets, and there is a new launch parameter for javaw.

posted a message on How to install OptiFine manually?

I used to install multiple mods for my friends and I awhile back, but no longer is the process that I used to do works. I know how to change the folder name, json name, jar name, id in json, but now those tactics do not seem to work. I realize that you used to be able to zip up the version folder and then send it to friends to give them mods, but now you need to use the installer since it changes the libraries of the ".minecraft" directory. I was wondering how I could manually install OptiFine (even Forge does not work) if any way was possible (such as WinRar).

EDIT: The old tactic no longer works since when you launch minecraft when using the version you created, it downloads the stock version with the name of the version (ie. 1.9.4-OptiFine).

I have no clue what you just said, be more specific?

As long as you have java, it generally works crossplatform. Universal code unless certain OS functions are used.

Manually installing OptiFine no longer works. Neither does manually installing Forge (both 1.9.4 versions). Any way to fix this (other than using the installer)? Whenever it's about to start up completely with the correct profile/version folder, it redownloads a clean copy of 1.9.4.

    Faction Name: Ancestries of Logjess

    Turn Number: 3
    Refer to: Root
Formal Actions:Motivational speech; Join alliance; Raise army
Informal Actions: Axios Deminence recalls Daimon's army (1) from Simula in order to press some important business only able to be talked to in person. While the only current army is coming back, Sugo comes back empty handed explaining to himself which Axios Deminence can only accept. He asks Sugo to try to send a following message to the different towns in Logjess other than Mula Sa where he spoke publicly in order to spur up a rally:

My people, first I'd like to address all of the rumors of the new "god" in southern Logjess. No towns will be pointed out, but we do accept it as a new ancestral and we only ask of their support as everyone else does. Let this be a new chapter in our belief!
However, more pressing matters are rising. Currently, there are wars going on which we are unable to avoid... Recently a town has been attacked, pillaged, and most likely obliterated by the alliance known only as the New Order of Factions. However, a hand of mercy has been extended to us by Mascor Emir and they allow us to join their Worldwide Alliance!!! We will aid them and take vengeance back for the people we've lost!!! But... We need your help. I ask of each and every family to send their capable persons for war. I only ask, I do not demand. Our armies are small, we may only have spears and bows and the clothes off our back, BUT WE HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE ANCESTRALS!!! THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN WILL BE REBORN IN THE LIGHT OF THE GODS!!! HELP US REGAIN WHAT HAS ONCE BEEN TAKEN!!!

Axios Deminence also trains another army in the traditional way (forests, hunting, only given their weapons in order to survive) led by Milisia who has had no prior military experience.

    - Axios' Fist | Daimon | 30 Archers; 27 Spearmen
    - Justice's Balance | Milisia | ??? ((depends on how many people joined after the speech, hrsidkpi))
    Tactics | Explanation:
    - Quick strike | The mass agility of all soldiers allow quick maneuvering and even quicker raids onto cities
    - Forest Combat | Due to being trained in forests, they are able to maneuver quickly even though they'd normally be hindered

    Full Name: ???

    Nickname:
    ???

16 || Male || ??? (He can only pinpoint it to a year)

    The Wanderer

    |Personality|

He is, in short, someone very defensive but will do anything needed in order to survive one more day. Placing his own well-being first, if he knows something bad is happening he'd run if he could. He is very unloyal and since the incident has even given up on the "gods" as well. However, there are a few exceptions to this. Those who help him out and ask for nothing in return hold a place in his life, even though it may only be temporary. Not caring much about his own name as it only brought despair, he never told anyone.

    |Likes & Dislikes|

    -Likes:
Food in general, give him something that may seem inedible to a middle-class person and he'd eat it in a second.

-Dislikes: Every person who looks down upon him, and the snobby rich-class people. He feels as if he doesn't need pity or need any whispers going around him although he'd just be referred to as "a boy."

    |Strengths|

    - Analytical:
His life as a street rat has taught him many things. One was to think of ways to escape in any way.
    - Fast: "Outrun those merchants, those salesman that are selling what I stole. And outrun the guards, soldiers, and anyone who tries to stop me."

    |Weaknesses|

    - Tunnel vision of his life:
He is relatively unable to think about ahead of when the next meal will be stolen and eaten.

    - Self-centered: Almost everything he thinks about is himself. If he likes someone, he likes someone because they help him out for nothing in return. If anyone asks for something in return, running is his first instinct.

    |Fears|

    - Being caught by an authority:
Generally, his life would end shortly after that time. His appendages would get cut off, not allowing him to steal his food anymore.

    |Combat Style|

Swift and speedy, he is able to dodge many things but he rarely pulls out his knife. Preferring to skip combat and straight to the running away portion, he is not very skilled in using his dagger. Unlike the picture shown above, he is a back-handed (dagger pointed outwards and sideways) and is right-handed.

    |Ability|

The ability to make no sound and leave no traces. If he concentrates hard enough whenever he steps or interacts with his surroundings, no sound is made. By default though, any traces that he'd normally leave (footprints and other things like this) is not there at all.

    |Price|

    Ren

    |Equipment & Weapons|

    13-inch dagger (stolen of course)

A Burlap Sack where he keeps his food

A small waterskin (barely half the length of his forearm)

A cloak (as seen in the picture)

    An Apple

    |History|

I don't know my name. I don't know when day I was born. I do know most of everything else, but I'd rather not delve into it too far. Before the "incident", I lived with my family. One mother, one father, probably a couple of siblings as well. Sad thing is, I never remembered their faces even before my choice. This is probably a lot more skeptical than you think, but I can explain.

You see, my choice had nothing to do with me remembering my family or their names. I was barely a toddler when it all happened. Nowadays, I look back and wonder why I was the only survivor of that incident. If you could even call it that. But I knew one thing since that day, I was alone from then on. You see, all I remember from that day was screaming and yelling and no god to come and save my family. What I remember of the next day was that I was found by a group of people. They taught me everything that I'd learned up to this point, how to be a street rat.

I mean us thieves are pretty cold-hearted. But eventually you find the diamond in the rough who is kind enough to take in a toddler and raise him as your own. OR maybe he just raised me in order for me to get more things for him. I don't know. I never got the chance to ask him. Run more, run more, get that apple, run more, scoff it down, rest. Pretty much what the first thing I remember being trained from him was like. Now I don't get tired from running much as I do it almost everyday, but I also don't do one thing that I used to do back then. Say my name.

Now I don't know my name, not anymore at least. No one does either. New slate. Blank slate. You see, stealing became a profession for me for a short while. I stole for the money, not for the survival. It was a good life, my adopted father and I had food on the table. Until when IT happened. Usually they give me a description of what it looks like, the location, they pay me half in advance, I steal it, they give me the other half and I give it to them. There was just one problem. In my last job, my target kind of broke.

I needed to steal from a caravan. So nothing new, right? I watched them for a while, waiting for them to stop at the outskirts of town. When most of them were sleeping, I searched through the carts until I found what I looked for. It was a weird ceramic box. Not really large either, just small enough for me to carry but big enough to be noticeable if you walked around with it.

Remember how I said most of them were sleeping? Yeah, a guard was standing right behind me. When I grabbed the box, I turned around and saw his ugly face. I was planning to drop it and run, keep the money when he slashed out at me. My first instinct once again, was to run. Then, something weird happened.

Time seemed to slow down, really disconcerting voice, blah blah blah. In short, I was ready to soil my clothes when I found myself unable to move and run away from the thing. "What price will you pay?", I heard the voice say and found a few things in front of me. Five people it seemed more like. Well, five me. Anyways, they all gave me a description about them, what would happen, their promises. Ib and Ba told me that I'd never see death, Sheut told me that I'd never remember something that apparently overshadowing me, and Ka just promised me great powers. I just wanted to get out of there. But Ren, it spoke to me more dearingly. "You'll never be remembered by this guy. You can get away fine." I foolishly grabbed at Ren.

A few weeks later, here I am. Completely forgotten by my clients, completely forgotten by my adopted father, completely forgetting my own name. I'm back to the lowest of the low, I want to find a way out.

    |Other|

((Now, I know first Ren character but I hope I added some nice things into it. I know some parts may seem a little rushed compared to other applications, but I was confused on multiple parts of the RP. I've been watching it for a while now, and only decided to apply now. Hope you like it!))

Unformal Actions/Explanations: Rumors have been going around the lands, and not the kind the government can just ignore and tolerate. These are the ones that put them in danger. One of the only downsides of theocracies. Heretics and radicals. The rumors say that the southern peoples are beginning to develop new beliefs although it is not specified. Our leader Axios Deminence has decided to start to train an army in case the new beliefs become more volatile. Being lead by his favorite general Daimon, he sends them off to the southern forest without any supplies except their weapons and a few knives in order to train them in the customary way.

    Player Name: Axios Deminence

Occupying faction: The Ancestries of Logjess

Form of government: The theocracy of Logjess is based on multiple fronts. First off, each war and each business often associated with the government is always seen as holy and the commonwealth are often expected to realize that everything official has been sanctioned by the great ancestors of the country. The theocracy is very thorough with their brainwashing of officials in order to enforce "purity" within the government's ranks, thus disallowing multiple sources of corruption to take hold.

Capital City: A map will be put in here but for now it's basically just above the space between the first "s" and the "e". It is named "Mula Sa" as it means "from here" in the indigenous language.

    More Info:
The theocracy's origin was based on the very first peoples settling in Logjess who had different views from the countries they once inhabited. Once arriving into the area, however, they came into contact with the indigenous tribes that had lived before them where they had latched onto one of the pagan beliefs. Ancestor worship, or more commonly known as filial piety. The original founders decided to adopt this and begun to assimilate the indigenous peoples and their customs into their society.

Once assimilating the indigenous peoples, they were shown the works of agriculture which did not exactly was able to take root well. Many of the descendants of the indigenous peoples still followed the hunter-gathering ways of their ancestors which was allowed. However, after many generations of intermarrying, agrilcultural skills was also implanted into the descendants as well as the skills of the land.

The founders of the theocracy of Logjess started by claiming that they were the apex of all of the ancestors from the indigenous peoples and they had the right to rule. Although this is not true, despite what the government officials want you to think, they were able to use the master of rhetoric and language in order to secure their spot.

Since then the people of Logjess have created a largely self-sufficient community, albeit small populations and one of the youngest out of all of the lands. Despite their small populations however, countless generations of hunting-and-gathering have been instilled in them allowing great manufacturing of products and soldiers (the soldiers specialize in spear combat and archery).

Agriculture is still fairly new to the land so not many farmlands are available so the diet mostly consists of seafood fished in from the coasts and meat in the inlands. Many forests dot the land along with many open-field grasslands. Most settlements are populated by tents for the poor, cottages for the commonwealth, and all of the wealthy has been absorbed by the government residing in small stone architecture.

No slaves or standardized currency is currently being used by Logjess as word of mouth is highly prized within society. The current social structure is extremely fluid as it is clan-based thus it is possible for either gender to rise to power but can also lose their hereditary power through means of disowning or bad deeds. Many effects can last for multiple generations, this clan-based social structure and word of mouth is yet another reason why the theocracy has been able to survive.
