posted a message on How do you organize items on your hotbar?

    1. Sword

2-5/6: Whatever I need at the time

6/7-10: My tools, arranged in the same pattern at all times, so I can autopilot to the tool I need. The actual pattern differs from world to world, though, depending on what tools I have.

I select things on the hotbar usually by scroll wheel, but the number keys come into play once in a while when needed (like when I need my sword, but I've got my shovel on #6 highlighted).

posted a message on Enderman XP farms are OP

There's an enderman farm on the server I play on, and it is worth every diamond it costs for a year's use. It's the best. 10/10, and from now on, any vanilla singleplayer worlds I have are probably going to end up with one of these. :)

As said I am quite anewbie may be invested 24 hours maximum yet, and I get amazed by all of you making such advancement that it boggles my mind ..... how you did it ???

Most of us have been playing the game for (at least) a few years, so don't get discouraged by seeing what other people are doing. You'll get there, too. :)

posted a message on Moving items with water or hoppers

Just from the perspective of preventing lag on the server, a line of hoppers is the way to go. Water creates two things that server lag doesn't like: flowing water and floating entities. There are much more efficient ways of doing it, like linkzzey suggested, but if lag is a problem, go with a line of hoppers.

posted a message on I can't find my "thing" in Minecraft

I agree with what everyone else is saying--variety is good! Even people who have really solid "niches" like to branch out and do something else while they're playing.

I'm going to put this out there, and I'm not sure this is quite the answer you're looking for, lol. But, most people who have a "niche" didn't necessarily fall into it because they were born good at it (that's not really a thing), they fell into it because they liked doing it, and so they kept doing it. Over time, they get better at it. My point is, that's just their playstyle, which grew from doing the things they liked. If you like more than one thing, you go and do more than one thing! You'll have more fun that way than trying to restrict yourself to just building, or just redstone, or just minigames. :)

posted a message on Should I stay or should I go???

Linking the two places up with nether portals is a great idea. You don't sound too excited about that prospect yet, though, so I'm in the "camp" of putting down a home-away-from-home camp near the village. In my worlds, I like to set up multiple bases (as if I were building out an entire nation dotted with cities) and connect them with roads and railways.

If you're looking to travel those 2000 blocks faster without going to the nether or necessarily building infrastructure, you could also think about getting a horse. They can be a little frustrating, especially when there isn't a nice, flat, even road for them to run on, but at least they could get you moving faster. You can even equip donkeys with saddlebags, so you can carry more when you make the trip and not have to make a return journey to get more materials from your base quite as often.

One final suggestion. If you want to see if you can find a village that's a little closer to home, you could use a village finder online (like this one). You just input your world's seed, and it'll show a grid highlighting where all the villages are.

    Good luck!!

posted a message on What are you guys up to in MineCraft?

I play on a server (VMC-Tec), and I've just finished getting ready for the big Olympics event we're holding next week ("Teclympics"). I've got an arena set up for the game I'm hosting (spleef), and the base is looking decorated enough that I feel OK with having visitors.

That done, I'm getting geared up to start setting up a villager trading system for the first time! I usually play modded, so up until I joined this 1.15.2 server, I was stuck on 1.12.2. I'm pretty excited to try out this system that's old hat to everyone else, lol!

posted a message on What does YOUR username's seed look like?

I have a question. If you put your Minecraft/forum username down as the seed for a new world, what does the world look like?

Well, here's mine! This is using the seed "Avyn" with a capital A, and that's it.

Here's spawn. Oh, boy. A savanna biome right next to a plains. My two least favorite biomes. Joy.

So I take a little fly backwards to see the bigger picture, and I'm feeling a lot better about this. There's a knobby sand dune mountain thing in a desert just right there--a desert! very useful--and I'm right next to the ocean. It's actually a pretty pleasing little island/peninsula/thing.

By going just a little further south, I see the cutest little tiniest forest I've ever seen! Look at this thing, it's adorable! I do see a mountain range off in the distance--my favorite biome--so maybe there's hope for this seed yet.

That's seed Avyn! Not what I was hoping for, I must admit. It would be a useful survival world, though. Lots of flat space to build, a variety of wood at your fingertips, and a desert for infinite sand!

I'm curious--what does YOUR seed look like?

posted a message on Haven't been to the nether yet, playing modded 1.15.2, and debating what to do?

I guess it really depends on your priorities, and whether you really need something from the nether before all your mods update. Ultimately it's really up to you. Personally, I would probably wait for a bit and see what happens, and then if the mods don't update soon enough or aren't looking like they're going to update soon, I'd weigh my options again.

For me personally, my favorite mods are mostly still all the way back in 1.12.2. I've been waiting for them to update for years. Most of them probably never will. Based on the activity I've seen, though, it looks like a lot of the 1.15.2 mods are already getting updated to 1.16. So, if you're already in 1.15.2, you might not have to wait too long to at least get your core mods.

All this to say, I don't know! I'd wait for just a bit longer to see what happens... but don't put it off forever, is what I'm saying, lol!
