I'm having crash problems as well. I'm still using the 1.5.2 version of all mods installed. I'm using MagicLauncher to try and load the mod, but I get this screen whenever the Portal Mod is added then attempted to load:
I tried finding that log it was talking about but I couldn't... The game doesn't fully crash, it just hangs on this screen until I close the program. I'm not entirely sure what the iChunUtil is, but it's saying I need the 1.0.0 minimum version of whatever it is in order for the mod to run.
I've attempted placing it in the Core Mods area of Modloader, which doesn't load the mod at all, and attempted putting it in the External Mods area of Modloader, which presents the same error.
EDIT: Ohhhh... There is actually an iChunUtil, here. I'll try and install it, it will probably work after this. Haha, I feel kinda embarrassed. I'll leave this here in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
First off, if Java EVER freezes, you can usually end it with a quick COMMAND+OPTION+ESCAPE.
As for your crashes, that seems to be because you install the Aether CorePlayerAPI. And if you did, make sure you put it in your coremods folder, (hence "Core" in it's name).
EDIT: I'm stupid, CorePlayerAPI is inside the Aether ZIP, did you put the Aether ZIP file inside your mods or coremods folder? Also, please update your java, you're quite a few versions behind on your Mac (tutorial).
Ok, I updated the Java, and realized in Magic Launcher there is a separate area for core mods and external mods (which effectively does what you mentioned) and got it to work. Thanks for the help!
I've tried loading the mod and it keeps crashing, usually on a screen that says "Shutting Down Internal Server..." Sometimes the game never crashes and stays on that screen and my mouse is locked into the Minecraft program, effectively forcing me to hard restart my computer.
I know someone got flack about using Magic Launcher before (and I suppose that's my problem because I'm using it) but I honest to god tried to install mods the other way a while back and I could never get it right no matter how many times I tried. I don't know if it's because I use OSX instead of Windows, but I could never really get it down.
Anyways, the report:
