I liked the ability. If people don't like it they should play on peaceful or creative, or GASP! build an actual defensive structure that can defend against them, I mean it's called survival for a reason.
It's also called Minecraft, and this was the adventure update - the block shuffling hardly fulfils either of those. As for survival, the design is such that at some point you're going to start thriving. I thought a true survival mode was something planned for the future - but the current "survival" mode obviously lets you go beyond merely that. I prefer something where I have to work to build things, rather than just being handed everything in creative, but I'm not that interested in spending all my time just fighting. Surely there's room for that.
