Server's down, some guy named TomK just stopped it. >:
It'll probably be down most of today, until I can get my php panel updated for the new server wrapper and configure everything. I don't have remote desktop access, so I can't directly run exes, batch files, or access the server console directly.
Unfortunately, I still get this problem, and as of recently it's worse than ever before.
Sometimes I can play for hours with minimal issues. Other times, I have to rejoin multiple times within a few minutes, and still can't play without lagging out. It's like the server receives my input, but the blocks I modify reappear, my chat is delayed by minutes or never sent at all, and any changes I made don't take effect until I reconnect; it's like I just completely stop receiving packets from the server.
At this point SMP is pretty much unplayable in my own server, because of the horrid delays, then I just timeout...
tl;dr: If a server wants to stop griefing, they have to ban all PvP whatsoever, making their server boring and retarded.
I disagree, a wall is a wall. It isn't hard to rebuild. If it had been a griefer, most of the building would be wrecked. Small, methodical destruction is a clear contrast to large-scale griefing.
Under your standards, everyone should be able to run around destroying everything because you can't tell if it's for RP or not, and that's crap IMO.
I hope this is intentional, otherwise how will we create mob farms using fences? If they were only 1 block high, the animals could simply jump over them.
Thats not the issue...keep reading. Not jumping over them isn't a glitch, I was merely stating a fact the was needed to be known for the rest of the sentence.

I like it, it looks stylish and not WHITE LIKE SOME OTHER ****ING WEBSITES. It's much easier on the eyes, smooth and just a acceptable site.
Black text on a white background is used so often because it is one of the easiest color combinations to read, and is so widely accepted as the "norm."
As for the server list, I don't see the use for external server lists when the official minecraft forum has its own primary server list.
as an op I get a ton of console spam
(CONSOLE: Giving <player> some <itemid>)
One per item given.
Was this something you had fixed for older server versions?
Oh God, the console spam, it BURNS!
It seems like it's clashing with the newest version of the server. It's supposed to display to OPs what admins do. However, it's doing it for every single item spawn command. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, imo.
My ideas suck? Enjoy your 3 player servers. Java takes memory, java takes CPU. A basic VPS is never going to host a decent server w/ the way the game works.
I agree - The fact is, Java was/is a horrible choice in the coding of this game. I'm running a 24-player server on a friend's 8-core 16MB server box at a server hosting company in Chicago, and even that isn't enough. Underpowered computers running private servers aren't a problem; the unrefined server code is the problem, and so is Java.
Edit: We have also allotted 4GB of RAM to the server, but it still sees major slowdowns @ 20+ users, and after a while things tend to grind to a halt.
If you want someone banned from your server, ban them. I'm not going to trust a list of names just because other people say that some people on that list are griefers.
Sweet. For what I wanted (no /iron, working furnace and bucket), I only need your mod now, since /tp is now build into the official server! :biggrin.gif:
Never did figure out how to nicely combine yours with the other, but no matter now.
/tp ?
What's that? This is the first I've heard of it.
It's a teleport command built into the game, which would be good if it didn't crash me 75% of the time I try to use it.
New Eden has regular time out when the server saves, once every X minutes, just disconnect and wait for a while and you'll be able to play again
It isn't anything like that, often I'll join the server and it'll lag like this pretty much from the beginning. I think it may have something to do with java, but I'm really at a loss as to what might be causing the lag/timeouts.
Can't really say how often, sometimes it's somewhat frequent, other times it isn't. Usually other people don't timeout at the same time as me, because I have a friend who also plays in the server, and he doesn't have any problems when I do. (unless the server is lagging for everyone) I have no idea what it is, because most of the time other players don't seem to be getting the lag that I do.

You weren't banned by any of our admins, and I'll be unbanning you shortly. I'm switching the server to hey0's wrapper right now.

Ah, I interpreted them to be two separate issues.

As always, keep up the good work Czahrien.

Banlists/blacklists are bad, mkay.
