Not too sure, but definently post in the support forums, however, is 1.6 the latest java? if not I would be sure to update it, I would not be suprised if OpenGL support in WinXP is lacking for the new ATI cards aswell, but I cant say for sure(as I only have a GTX275, and running Win7 now)

Honestly, people need to stop bitching about Thomas, I think its great, adds some nice persistant history to the minecraft universe, that is actually relevant, I also like the devilcow.
I also spent time in my world slaughtering cows after the update(though granted I was just curious to try the new stuff, wasn't because of the devilcow or anything), they haven't done anything to me yet, I wont let em!

    1. It's the lowest two-digit number that's also a power of two. Helps with templating, and makes for easier coding.

2.The two remaining bits in the byte can easily be used to store other data, like "belongs to this player" or "is on fire" in future patches.

2 flag bits is certainly possible, just remember though thats only 0-3, so it cant be used as an id, chances are there is plenty of room for growth however, since I know there is other bytes per block, so they might just remain unused, or he might have other things stacking greater then 64 in the future.
    It definently suits crafting though.
64 wood makes 4 stacks of planks which makes 8 stacks of sticks

    Edit: ninjad

The lowest two-digit number that's also a power of two would be 16. :\
I think he chose 64 because it makes the most sense for a single inventory slot. As opposed to 32, which is too small, or 128, which is too large, in my opinion.

32 and 64 are also powers of 2, and also 2 digit numbers
Edit again: Woops, misread, thought you said highest :tongue.gif:

I really don't know why tbh, 64 is 6bits(0-63), but considering the actual storage is 1 byte(0-255), I got no clue, there has to be another reason surely

Kind of a blend of the last 2, I plan to mostly work alone, underground and hidden from sight, but I might not settle a main base for awhile, but instead have several minibases, and yes I will leave resources behind, so if you're lucky to stumble upon one of my minibases, chances are(providing you survive), youll get some free loot :biggrin.gif:

Climb a treed, mine down 2 blocks. Makes a nice and very safe treefort to stay in overnight.

I used to do this all the time, especially while traveling, and you can put a torch on the top of the trunk for light

    Fire should:

    1) Go out when at extreme speed (minecart/falling/pigwithsaddleonice)
    2) Halve your armour rating. Most games lower defence when on fire/burnt.
    3) Spreads to mobs and tree's and such via contact to start natural forest fires every morning cause of skeletons, and will let you use fire more effectivly.
    4) And as it's related, flint and steel should only have 32 uses. I often never replace my flint and steel as I don't use it enough.

I would be the burning man, set myself on fire, run through a bunch of monsters, douse myself with a bucket and keep running :Bacon: :Bacon:
