Honestly, at night time when im on the surface, I grab my sword and run around in the dark hunting creepers...I don't see the big deal.

Though, I guess when I first bought the game, I did hide in my house with the door tightly sealed, infact I used to completely hide for awhile, but I think the monsters have been toned down alot, I still avoid skeletons and spiders, but I no longer hide at night times....

Hear me out here, I used to hide, and would always hear footsteps around the outside, and usually ended up with 5+ monsters walking around trying to get to me, now when I hide inside, I rarely get anything, its like their "player-sensor" radius got turned way down or something, cause I still see groups of them in the distance, but I have to go right up to them to get their attention

    Quote from Mikkel »
I think it's possible to still keep the old texture size, but simply simulate a lower texture by painting the "pixels" larger.

Though the actual texture dimensions will be the same, so it wouldnt do anything except make everything more pixelated.
And reducing a 256x256 texture down to 128x128, when its 1 of a few images used in the entire game, as already mentioned, wont help, heck, removing the textures entirely and using flat shading, will not help in this case.
Back when Doom 1 was new, it *might* have helped, but probably not

Its like some of you guys are expecting to see someone cast Dragon Slave or something... and some of you are expecting typing magic of sorts.

The thing is folks, I think we'll only be seeing item based stuff, like fire arrows and stuff like that. Nothing like what I'm feeling some people are thinking... besides, if I want to cast Dragon Slave... some TNT will do just as good job.

Oh god, I want to cast Dragon Slave in minecraft now.... :ohmy.gif: MASSIVE CRATERS

There is differing levels of magic, just because he said magic, does not suddenly mean we will start flinging fireballs around

Its not the spawn rate that needs to change, its spawn location and the AI
I decided to try the old survival(the free one), sheep(and pigs too I think), actually find grass blocks and EAT THE GRASS, TURNING IT INTO A DIRT BLOCK!!!
Why they dont do that now I have no idea

Ill take a guess and say they might be in the user folder somewhere(open finder, and click on your username on the left, take a browse around), or just search for ".minecraft", should show up the folder, I would assume so anyway, unless for some reason Notch uses a different folder name on macs

Unless your computer sucks(like a netbook or something), rendering is usually not the cause of lag, so setting view distance and graphics doesn't do a whole lot, since all the lag comes from world simulation and loading/saving data to and from the HDD.

posted a message on Making Multiplayer Limited Maps Infinate
    Quote from tproc »
Would somebody please link me to where Notch said multiplayer maps would be finite?

I'm pretty sure that ALL maps are finite at the moment, but just so large that it's irrelevant. You might have misunderstood him.

The plan for next week is to start by setting up a very basic framework for multiplayer (without any gameplay parts at all), then possibly ask some people to help test it to make sure it works. I might also have to implement limited size levels again (coming sooner or later anyway) because infinite map servers will use huuge amounts of ram if the players all scatter. If the map is limited, it will never use more ram than the size of the level.

    Source = http://notch.tumblr.com/post/766304383/400-sales-in-24-hours#disqus_thread

In short, its going to be an option, not that there will be no infinite multiplayer

    Edit: v My bad :SSSS:

One of the red wires will be active from the torch, while the other is inactive from the switch. The moment the active wire is next to the TNT, it goes off, same thing if that wire is replaced by a block that recieves power. The double door problem seems to be a glitch where an inactive wire will activate one of the doors, so you have to have an active wire to one door to close it, while the other door requires an inactive wire to be closed. With TNT, it's either detonating (and can't be stopped), or it's inactive, so the fix for double doors will simply set off TNT. I've tested it several times; my original problem was just my own mistake of having a wire too long to be active, a simple split wire *will* activate two sets of TNT, while a simple split wire gets hung on the problem of one door needing ON to be shut, while the other needs OFF to be shut, and to open they need OFF and ON respectively.

Yeah, dont forget though, if you need to extend a wire, just throw in a double inverter, essentially giving you an extra 15 blocks of powder

hmm. bricks being harder to break if a player places em..... sounds good to me. 1 problem though, what if some griefer goes int someone elses mine and lays cobblestone everywhere?

I....uh...great point, I guess the only way around that WOULD be land control flags(that ONLY make the blocks harder to destroy by others, not impossible to destroy), I dont support indestructable blocks that are not admin blocks(unless its a server mod/plugin, which means its specific to that server only).
But if griefers could just surround your base or fill your tunnels with harder to break blocks, that kind of defeats the purpose, solution to that? Leave it as it is.

It's like when you were 12 years old playing LEGOS with a friend and they'd get mad at your ship design and step on it, causing you to get mad and throw theirs against a wall, and eventually the whole thing ends with someone being rushed to the emergency room with a lego-guy stuck up their nose.

Man, that was the best birthday party ever...

This post brings much joy and lols

And this is why I need to just shutup and test things myself, before coming to a conclusion on how itll behave in minecraft :Skeleton:
This is odd behavour to me, though I do understand why it works this way in minecraft due to the way currents transmit

Notch did mention wanting to rework the system a little for tighter circuits, as to if it will happen or not I am not too sure, but I would like it if this was changed as its kind of...illogical
