    posted a message on CHRONICLE - 27 New Book Variations in Vanilla Minecraft


    Overview:

    Ever want to sort through your books, but don't know how without tediously looking through every one of them? Do you ever wish sending mail in minecraft felt a little bit more genuine? Do you like to assign your own lore to various objects and write stories in the game, but get thrown off by how monotonous the books are?


    The Chronicle datapack is a Lightweight Datapack that simply adds in the small chance for Librarians to sell a handful of new trades. At level 1, your librarians will trade you one written book, and one dye, and will dye that written book for you; level 1 librarians also have a chance to trade for various Scrolls, and even Letters. When your librarians reach level 4, however, they can potentially unlock any of the special Tomes, or gold scrolls.


    These books function exactly like a Book & Quill, and, when signed, look like dyed enchanted books! This is because I figured I would rather give users the option to use a nice book & "tied" book texture, rather than having only a book & quill texture (not very usable) or the book texture. Functionally, though, again! These are just retextures of the Book & Quill & Written Books, sold by villagers, completely vanilla.


    Download & Installation:

    As the Chronicle pack is actually a datapack and resource pack, there are two files the user must download,


    resources.zip


    chronicle.zip


    Once this has been finished, keep in mind that as a datapack, these books show up per-world. If you’re running a single-player world or if the server you wish to host Chronicle on is Yours, you won’t have to worry one bit, but if you want to get these books on a server that belongs to someone else, you won’t be able to without asking the owners/managers of that server. However, if you have access to the files of your single-player world / multi-player server, follow this simple installation process:


    1. Go to your .minecraft folder.
    2. Open .minecraft/saves/
    3. Select the world you wish to install the datapack in.
    4. Drop “resources.zip” into .minecraft/saves/[YOUR WORLD NAME]/

    posted a message on CARAVAN - Lightweight Travelling Villagers Datapack

    Overview:

    Ever feel a little bit weird relocating villagers from their homes, but don't want to go through the tedium of curing zombie villagers?


    The Caravan datapack is a Lightweight Datapack that simply adds in the small chance for Wandering Traders to spawn as Caravans. Caravans consist of multiples of 3 villagers of regular biome types (desert, plains, taiga, snow, savanna), and occasionally a single swamp and/or jungle villager, all also riding trader llamas. Because of the feature of caravans already in the game, the trader llamas will follow the Wandering Trader.


    Download & Installation:

    The Caravan datapack only requires one file.

    posted a message on Vanilla 1.14 - Mob Masks ; [Variations on a Theme - Masks]

    Overview:

    This is the second VOAT (Variations on a Theme) pack I'm releasing, where I take a theme I like of something already in the game, and expand it massively. This pack's theme is Masks.


    The VOAT - MASKS datapack adds in 87 new masks to minecraft, obtainable through villager trades using a new set of 6 wooden masks. Aside from the 6 wooden masks, every single mask is based off of a pre-existing mob in the game, and can be worn on the players head, put in an item frame, or put on any mob that is able to wear a helmet.


    This is an alternative to Heads; while less decorative, these masks have proper 3D models, 2 of which have animated textures, and have quite a bit of an interesting flare because of that compared to the uniform & inanimate playerhead item. Put them on your villagers to make for a more unique village, place them on your armourstands for general home decor, or mount them above your fireplace like you hunted them yourself. This pack is perfect especially for players who are tired of being constrained to having the same shape player model as everyone else, and just want a simple change to their appearance without anything overpowered or modded occuring.

    The Masks:

    To get yourself started, you'll want to enchant yourself a pair of fortune shears. The level of fortune determines the % chance that a wooden mask drops. To acquire a wooden mask, simply break stripped wood blocks with your fortune shears.


    Upon retrieval of a wooden mask, find any villager, and use a dispenser to put the mask on the villager. This will open up 1 of 9 sets of trades, depending on these 9 conditions:


    - If the Villager is in the Nether, it will become the Nether Mask Salesman.

    - If the Villager is in the End, it will become the End Mask Salesman.

    - If the Villager is a Cartographer, it will become the Travelling Mask Salesman.

    - If using an Oak Mask, the Villager will become the Oak Mask Salesman.

    - If using a Birch Mask, the Villager will become the Birch Mask Salesman.

    - If using a Spruce Mask, the Villager will become the Spruce Mask Salesman.

    - If using a Jungle Mask, the Villager will become the Jungle Mask Salesman.

    - If using an Acacia Mask, the Villager will become the Acacia Mask Salesman.

    - If using a Dark Oak Mask, the Villager will become the Dark Oak Mask Salesman.


    Each Mask Salesman sells a different set of Masks. Each [Wood] Mask Salesman requires their corresponding mask type as well as 4 emeralds for each Mask trade.


    A word of warning: The masks themselves are technically carved pumpkins. Attempting the right click function using a mask will place it as a carved pumpkin, and you will not be able to retrieve the mask. Unfortunately, there is no decent alternative or way around this, and this is simply the limitation put in place by the game as it is.

    Weird! It should work perfectly fine on all versions of 1.14 & above. Not sure where your issue is coming from, & I'll try to poke around & see what I can do, but more than likely it's on Minecraft's part.

    The previous Cornucopia pack I released was an attempt to see how people would respond to this kind of pack, and since it was a good response, I've expanded the concept significantly, and rebranded it as V.O.A.T (Variations on a Theme), so that I can continue to release packs like this one with different content.


    The VOAT - FRUIT datapack adds in 32 new foods to minecraft, obtainable through the leaf blocks of various trees, as well as from vines, and berry bushes, when the player destroys the block in specific biomes.

    The Cornucopia datapack adds in 8 new foods to minecraft, obtainable through the leaf blocks of various trees. Each of these foods give 5 points of hunger, and restores 6 hunger saturation, aside from the gall, which can be used as a substitute in potions for spider eyes. Additionally, the fig and peach items can only be found from Swamp Trees and Jungle Bushes, giving each of those a unique drop, finally, in the game, as well as allows sweet berries to drop from a leaf type detailed below.

    For 1.14, since we're getting a ton of new slabs, I created 3 versions of this resource pack, Better Double Slabs, which adds an incredibly helpful tool for builders to detail their builds with. Downloads near bottom.


    HOW IT WORKS:


    When Minecraft calls a block model into the world, it loads the model through a file specifying the blockstate of the model. Every slab has 3 blockstates: half=[top, bottom, double], and by default, the half=double file simply loads the base block (for instance, in blockstates/birch_slab, by default, the set model is "block/birch_planks"). I've customized these for every single slab, except for 4.


    Basically, when you put two slabs on top of eachother, you'll get a "new" block. This does not remove anything from the game, and is entirely additive in nature.


    VARIATIONS:


    I've created 3 variations of this resource pack, specifically to account for differences in preference. When I make resource packs, I try to make them as non-intrusive as possible, so that users can use other resource packs and have no issue with overwritten textures, and so that the changes to the models and textures will not heavily influence the appearance of your builds to people who are not using the resource pack provided. This is the reasoning behind the variations of the pack, which will be detailed below, in the Downloads section. The numbers in the above image are used to determine what variation will include them, with v1 including everything, v2 including everything except for the blocks labelled 2, and v3 including everything except the blocks labelled 2 or 3.

    For all of these save for the Elder Prismarine, I was able to create models to give the desired effect, so, again, you can use whichever texture pack you want with these.


    As for the four "missing" blocks: I didn't include a special variation for smooth stone, because the double slab is already unique- replacing it would make it completely inaccessable. Similarly, I didn't include a special variation for petrified oak because there is no proper petrified oak block, only the double slab variation. As for mossy cobblestone and smooth quartz, I didn't include special double slabs for them simply because I could not think of any good ideas for them that could be done without implementing new textures to the game entirely, which, again, I try not to do unless fundamentally necessary.


    EXAMPLES:


    This wall of variations of sandstone does not use any new textures, but rather just some clever modelling.



    In this image, you can see the "tile" sandstone (cut sandstone double slab), "trimmed" smooth sandstone (smooth sandstone double slab), and "rough" sandstone (sandstone double slab). Again, this image would look fine without the resource pack, but this pack is all about giving builders the very subtle option to include these changes.


    You can also use this pack for variation in block palette, for instance here with these mossy stone bricks:



    Very easy, and very straight-forward.


    For one more application, lets see how the vertical planks could be used to enhance a house wall:



    Elegant, and very subtle.


    DOWNLOADS:


    Version 1: All assets. Uses custom textures to provide Elder Prismarines. Includes some blocks that may not look great for players without this pack, but are very nice blocks to have.


    Version 2 - NNT (No New Textures): Includes blocks labelled 1 and 3, AKA all blocks except Elder Prismarines. Includes some blocks that may not look great for players without this pack, but are very nice blocks to have.


    Version 3 - NNB (No New Blocks): Includes only blocks labelled 1, AKA the most no-resource-pack-friendly experience possible. You can build perfectly fine with this resource pack on servers, and while your detailing may go unnoticed to those without this pack, your builds will look fundamentally no different.

I specifically made sure that the armour shouldn't apply treasure enchantments. I'll have to go through it again & make sure, but worst case scenario I'll probably just remove that line from the description smh :-(

    It isn't a mod! Technically speaking since this is 100% supported as vanilla by the vanilla game, since it's a datapack + resource pack. No different from, say, changing the texture of an item & running some commands. Just done in a really tricky way ;P

    Overview:

    The beetles datapack adds in an entire new mechanic to the game called Sand Fishing, which has an entire set of its own loot drops with items both new and old, as well as an entire set of beetles: a new entity for Vanilla Minecraft. There are over 1000 beetles possible to be found & collected, and the entire system is, I’m proud to say, incredibly server & computer friendly. The beetles datapack also adds in a few aestheticly different versions of pre-existing items, though these items function exactly like the originals. Beetles are incredibly easy to collect, all you need is a shovel & some sand. They can be collected as items in an inventory & on item frames, or be kept in a tank as entities with their own AI.

    The Beetles datapack works on any world from version 1.16+.


    This datapack is the first of a series of datapacks for a map I'm working on, Deimos. Stay tuned for more Deimos Datapacks. Additionally, feel free to check out my other series of datapacks, Variations On A Theme, or VOAT for short! I have all of my stuff easily accessible over here.


    You must be playing on easy or higher difficulty.

    Sand Fishing:

    When holding any shovel, if a player stands on sand & has sand nearby, Sand Fishing will initiate. When Sand Fishing is active, a few sand particles will start to periodically kick up into the air on a random nearby block within 16 blocks of the player. If the player removes the block underneath the sand particles, they have a 3/6 chance of getting Junk, a 2/6 chance of getting a Beetle, and a 1/6 chance of getting Treasure. Junk items are all preexisting items, just in a new loot table, giving the player a couple of items that other junk loot tables like Fishing does not. Beetles are 1032 new mobs, described below, that do not replace any preexisting mob. Treasure items are a mix of old items and new items, of which the new items function like the old items but have special textures, which are only able to be found from them.

    Loot:

    Of the new Treasure items, there's Ancient versions of gold ingots, gold nuggets, gold carrots, gold chestplates, gold helmets, gold leggings, gold boots, gold swords, and lapis lazuli. The original versions of these items still exist, and the new items can only be found through Sand Fishing. The Ancient Armour received from Sand Fishing is enchanted @ level 50- the highest in the game. However, since it's Gold gear, it's still worse than the level 20-39 diamond / iron gear found in End Cities by default. Additionally, the Ancient Armour will never by default have Mending on it, and comes severely damaged. All drop tables can be found here.



    Beetles:

    As for the beetles themselves, they have 2 advancements associated with them; "Buggy Content", which requires you to catch any beetle in your inventory, and "Rare Catch", which requires you to catch any scarab in your inventory. “Rare Catch” is a challenge achievement that rewards 50xp (not levels), as Scarabs have a 1 in 2056 chance of spawning each, and there are only 8 of them. Otherwise, every other beetle has an individual 2/2056 chance of spawning, meaning the chance to get a Scarab is 8 in 2056, whereas the chance to not get a Scarab is 2048 in 2056.

    When a beetle appears in the world, it will appear as an Item, and be on its back. After 5 seconds, the beetle will "flip over" and become an Entity. This entity will follow the player within 4 blocks, and will antagonize villagers- who are scared of beetles by default. The beetle entity cannot deal any Damage to other entities, though it can Attack them. Beetle entities will also try to attack Iron & Snow Golems, though these will both attack back. If a Beetle takes ANY damage, it dies & drops Chitin , a new food (parented to Rotten Flesh, meaning functionally exactly the same). If you wish to flip the beetle back over & collect it as an Item, you can do so at any time by submerging it in Water.


    Beetles are also set to be easily collectible, having their colouration and type listed under the item name in grey. Additionally, they are set so that, when placed in Item Frames, they are the exact same size as they appear in the world, meaning players can effectively “pin” the beetles to the item frames. To reiterate, there are 1032 beetles, each with a unique combination of their colouration and shape. There are 256 colour possibilities per type of beetle (aside from Scarabs), across 4 different beetle types.


    Download & Installation:

    As the beetles pack is actually a datapack and resource pack, there are two files the user must download,




    Once this has been finished, keep in mind that as a datapack, these beetles show up per-world. If you’re running a single-player world or if the server you wish to host the beetles on is Yours, you won’t have to worry one bit, but if you want to get these beetles on a server that belongs to someone else, you won’t be able to without asking the owners/managers of that server. However, if you have access to the files of your single-player world / multi-player server, follow this simple installation process:


    1. Go to your .minecraft folder.
    2. Open .minecraft/saves/
    3. Select the world you wish to install the datapack in.
    4. Depending on whether you're playing singleplayer or multiplayer, do one of the following:
      1. SINGLEPLAYER: Drop “resources.zip” into .minecraft/saves/[YOUR WORLD NAME]/
      2. MULTIPLAYER: Follow these instructions.
    5. Go to .minecraft/saves/[YOUR WORLD NAME]/datapacks
      1. If the folder “datapacks” does not exist, create one.

    6. Drop “beetles.zip” into .minecraft/saves/[YOUR WORLD NAME]/datapacks/

    And that’s the entire process! If you’re running a server, you may need to do a restart, but otherwise everything should be ready to go.

    Overview:


    Nightmare+ is a datapack that adds changes to every single mob that is capable of damaging the player except for Llamas.


    It is a sequel to Nightmare Difficulty, and made by the same person, me, Athesiel / Jordan. There have been several rebalances & many additions in comparison to the original Nightmare Difficulty, as well as an update to work in Minecraft 1.13 Java Edition.


    There are two versions available, Nightmare+, and Ultra Nightmare+.


    Nightmare+ adds only the new abilities of the mobs, without any of the stat changes. It exists solely for those who were unable to enjoy the mechanics original Nightmare Difficulty due to its, well, difficulty.

    Ultra Nightmare+ is a true challenge for true veterans of Minecraft, & adds both the new abilities and increased stats for the mobs affected. It is the true successor to Nightmare Difficulty.

    New Mechanics:


    Blaze - Cursed Grounds - Now gives nearby players debuffs based on what block they're on; Netherrack gives mining fatigue, Soulsand gives slowness, and Netherbricks give weakness.


    Cave Spider - Web Design - See: "Spider"; natural cavespiders will spawn cobwebs when in proximity to a player.


    Creeper - Replacal - No longer spawns; See: "Enderman"


    Dolphin - Leagues - Dolphins spawn in stronger based on the distance swam by the nearest player at their spawn.


    Drowned - Drag - If a drowned spawns with no item, it will be given a trident. Drowns will try to pull the player under, if they are in water. The player will sink quicker if in kelp or seagrass.


    Elder Guardian - Thornguarde - Now summons pufferfish depending on how many newly spawned guardians are nearby.


    Enderman - Endercreeper - Endermen now spawn holding TNT. They will explode if near the player.


    Endermite - Hide - Now enters purpur blocks, endstone, and end bricks in a similar fashion to silverfish.


    Evoker - Quick Cast - Instant spell recharge, meaning the evoker will cast spells much more frequently.


    Ghast - Explosion Power - Fireballs explode with 3x the power.


    Guardian - Slipstream - Now have the ability to dash 5 blocks ahead if a player is too close for too long.


    Husk - Revive - If killed normally, the husk will drop bandages which cannot be picked up; if these bandages aren't burned, they will spawn a new husk. If killed with fire, the husk will drop the original drops.


    Illusioner - Now spawns in the world via the Witch


    Magma Cube - Merge - After enough time near one another, two magma cubes of the same size will fuse together to a larger magma cube.


    Phantom - Insomniac - Phantoms spawned will be larger depending on how long it has been since the closest player they spawn to has slept. Before 5 days, size 3 phantoms will spawn. Between days 5 and 7, size 5 phantoms will spawn. Between days 7 and 14, size 12 phantoms will spawn. After 2 weeks of not sleeping, all phantoms spawned closest to the player will spawn as size 25.


    Polar Bear - Aggro - Spawns aggressive regardless of cubs nearby.


    Rabbit - Aggro - Rabbits now spawn as the Killer Rabbit, though can be tamed with a weakness splash potion.


    Shulker - Directional Effect - Shulkers now change colour depending on the face they are attached to: this reflects additional status effects given to the player from their bullets. Shulker bullets now inflict the player with either blindness, slowness, poison, weakness, mining fatigue, or levitation II.


    Silverfish - Mindeater - After long enough near a player, will steal 1 xp from the player (not an entire level, just 1 xp at a time).


    Skeleton - Proximity Attack - Skeletons change between using a bow & using a sword based on proximity to the player.


    Slime - Merge - After enough time near one another, two slimes of the same size will fuse together to a larger slime.


    Spider - Replacal - All spiders will spawn as cave spiders. If the spider would have spawned as a non-cave spider, it will have higher stats but be unable to place web.


    Stray - Polar Rider - Has a low %chance to spawn as a Polar Rider: a stray with higher stats riding a polar bear with higher stats.


    Vex - Rebound - Small chance to spawn when a potion is thrown.


    Vindicator - Vindictive - Spawns with incrementing stats depending on how many Vindicators the nearest player they spawn to has killed.


    Witch - Transformation - Will no longer be given the speed, fire resistance, and water breathing status effects: instead, the witch changes form depending on potion drank & how long the witch has existed in the world. After 1 minute of transformation, the witch will turn back to normal. The witch transforms into the following mobs: Fire Resistance: Blaze, Wither Skeleton, Ghast. Water Breathing: Pufferfish (with increased stats), Guardian, Elder Guardian. Speed: Vindicator, Evoker, Illusioner. The transformation cycle goes from 0-1 minute, 1 minute-2.5 minutes, 2.5 minutes-4 minutes, and then resets.


    Wither Skeleton- Proximity Attack - Changes gear based on proximity to the player. If the player is near, uses a stone sword and shield. If the player is far, switches to a bow. If killed while using the bow, has a chance to drop Withering arrows.


    Zombie - Defleshing - Can always break doors. If killed by fire, replaced with a skeleton that does not burn in daylight.


    Zombie Pigman - Aggro - Always spawn hostile.


    Zombie Villager - Legion - Now grant various buffs and gear to nearby Zombies / Zombie Villagers based on profession. Farmers grant strength; Librarians will, every 5 seconds, enchant unenchanted gear with sharpness; Priests give a level of resistance based on how many zombies are nearby (if 12 or more zombies are nearby, zombies become effectively immortal, aside from the priest itself); Blacksmiths grant an iron axe to the nearest unarmed once every 5 seconds; Butchers, every 5 seconds, will increase the max health of a single nearby zombie villager from 20 to 30, and increase the health of undamaged zombie villagers as well; Nitwits no longer attack at all.


    Stat Changes in Ultra Nightmare+:


    ATK = Attack, HP = Hit Points / Health, FR = Following Range, AP = Armor Points, AT = Armor Toughness.

    Blaze: 12 ATK, 30 HP.


    Cave Spider - Natural: 6 ATK, 16 HP.


    Cave Spider - Nightmare: 8 ATK, 20 HP.


    Dolphins: Scales from 8 ATK to 30 ATK, 10 HP to 30 HP.


    Drowned: 8 ATK, 30 HP.


    Elder Guardian: 16 ATK, 100 HP.


    Enderman: 10 ATK, 50 HP.


    Endermite: 6 ATK, 10 HP.


    Evoker: 50 HP.Ghast: 20 HP.


    Guardian: 12 ATK, 30 HP.


    Husk: 8 ATK, 30 HP.


    Polar Bear: 12 ATK, 30 HP.


    Rabbit: 16 ATK, 10 HP.


    Silverfish: 8 ATK, 12 HP.


    Skeleton: 30 HP, 32 FR.


    Stray: 30 HP, 32 FR.


    Polar Rider: Stray: 30 HP, 32 FR, 5 AP, Polar Bear: 20 ATK, 50 HP, 5 AT.


    Vex: 8 ATK, 20 HP.


    Vindicator: Scales from 1 ATK to 19 ATK, 30 HP to 70 HP.


    Witch Puffer Fish: 10 ATK, 20 HP.


    Wither Skeleton: 30 HP, 32 FR.


    Zombie: 30 ATK, 5 HP.


    Zombie Pigman: 8 ATK, 30 HP.


    Zombie Villager: 5 ATK, 20 HP.


    Installation:


    Just like any other datapack, you can install Nightmare+ as follows:


    1. Go to your .minecraft file (located in C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft ),
    2. Find your minecraft/saves folder
    3. Open the save you want Nightmare+ to be in
    4. Go into the folder labeled "datapacks"; if there is not one, create one.
    5. Place Nightmare+.zip within the datapacks folder.
    6. Open the world in minecraft.
    7. Make sure that the datapack is enabled by running the command in-game of /datapack enable "file/Nightmare+.zip"
    8. Once this is done, run the command /reload

    If you are to use Nightmare+ in a showcase video, all that I ask is that you link back to the original video on it, located at the top of this page.     Inspired by FORGS , I always wish there were more bugs in Minecraft, so I decided to do it myself.


    Initially, there was only sp. opodiphthera eucalypti / the Emperor Gum Moth, but the pack kind of blew up on one place that I posted it, and so:

    As of MOTHSv3, there are 7 moths to choose from! If you don't want to choose, I also made a version compatible with optifine 1.13.2 that allows for randomized mobs with and without bats!
