I just don't really want to use a Microsoft account. I'm not a huge fan of the "everything connected under one account" model and to be honest it kind of creeps me out how much they push using MS accounts for their other products. Like I said, I think the fact that this is mandatory indicates that Microsoft will be getting some kind of benefit out of this.
It doesn't bother me that much but the fact that they aren't giving us a choice is annoying.
My thoughts exactly. This is them consolidating a userbase under their services.
If you believe that, then it also costs you nothing to tell us what your mojang and/or microsoft usernames and passwords are.
The worst that could happen is that somebody changes your credentials and "locks you out of a game that you bought up to 10 years ago", which you've already clarified holds no value for you. 🤨
This is an interesting comparison. I hadn't considered the similarities between the two scenarios. Having your account stolen, and being locked out because you refuse to use a microsoft account both ultimately end with you losing access to the game you paid for.
It perfectly fits into what upsets me about this change: The concept of ownership is being done away with.
The first gaming console I ever owned is still somewhere around my house. It's still entirely mine and I can play any of the games I purchased for it whenever I want.
I remember the moment I finally bought Minecraft for myself. I was very happy to finally have a copy that I myself had paid for. I always thought of it as my own. It saddens me to see that it's never really been mine and can be taken away in an instant...

Started a new save today, Was taking my first few steps when I spotted an Enderman in the distance.
I charged in bare-handed (as one does).
I had been attacking it for a bit when it stopped showing any signs of aggression. I left the safety of my tree and even hit it a couple of more times with no retaliation. The Enderman had stopped fighting back, and I couldn't bring myself to kill it.
Had walked away a fair bit when I noticed it was following me around. Everywhere I went it was never too far off.
It even followed me down into the caves as I spent the night underground.
It stuck around the next day and came spelunking with me again at night time.
Then I bumped into a creeper as I was surfacing the following morning. Can't say for sure that the explosion was to blame for my Enderman's disappearance but I never saw it again after that.

This is the only time I've encountered this bug. I would like to replicate it in the future. Anyone know how I can do so?

I'm just happier on the surface. I wish there were more underground structures, and maybe some biomes in between all those tunnels of gray.
I also enjoy the very act of making resource farms. It's very satisfying to take on a project with the specific goal of generating resources and then seeing that effort pay off.
Edit:

There are over 300 iron ingots in that tiny corner.

I don't watch Hermitcraft as much as everyone else here, but I really enjoy watching their videos every now and then.
To me they serve as an inspiration. Seeing the effort they put into their large scale builds has helped me tackle some big projects of my own.
Like this wither skull farm off LogicalGeekboy's design (WIP)
This drowned farm by Ilmango
This quadruple iron farm off Docm77's design
This guardian farm by Ken 2000
This gold farm by RandomGgames
I'm not sure I would've managed to get half of this done if I hadn't seen players like Mumbo and Xisuma create much larger builds themselves. They're examples of how far a player can go by putting in some effort. (Without being so massive that they seem unachievable through normal human means *cough* SciCraft *cough* ).
P.S.
Just wanna clarify that most of the players who's designs I've listed are not Hermits. These are examples of the things the Hermits have inspired me to build.

A thread sprung up on the forum of a browser game I used to play. My group of online friends already knew about it. When they found out just how many of them liked it they immediately became Minecraft evangelists and went around telling the rest of us how great it was.
That's how I ended up playing it for the first time and well... I hated it so much that I started going on rants about how slow and boring it was.
Luckily the people in my group were much older than me, and knew better than to argue with the ramblings of a child. I think if they'd done so I'd have grown to resent the game and missed out on one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.
Anyway I had no interest in Minecraft until this video hit YouTube's front page:
The idea of starting out in a deserted island with few resources was very alluring to me. I quickly became enamored with the series, and the game.
Anyway, Imma go play some Survival island now.

I knew about the trees but had no idea pumpkins and melons could also suffocate pets. Thanks for the heads up.

That's pretty cool! I'm not familiar with the source material, but I like the way it sounds.

Just watched Jojo Rabbit. It's easily one of my favorite films now.
Everything about this movie is brilliant but I particularly liked the ways in which the characters and situations are presented, and how they evolve as the story progresses. How in the beginning everything is colorful and happy; and Jojo's "best friend" is quite nice and supportive while Elsa is threatening and mean. Every part of this film really helps to convey Jojo's own shifting views of the world. I absolutely love it.
Thank you so much for suggesting it! I'll definitely look more into Taika Waititi.
P.S.
I know it's wrong make this kind of comparison but am I the only one who thinks the style of this film is like a toned down version of Wes Anderson's own? The pastel color palettes, the symmetrical perspectives, the character shots, the quirky personalities... They all remind me so much of his movies.

We all have them; those songs that we never publicly admit we enjoy either because they're too disliked or because they're too weird.
This is a thread for you to openly express your love for them. I'll start:

This song has me feeling pretty nostalgic...

Just learned that calling metal "surf music with distortion" is a pretty widespread joke.
Seen a few people claim that this only applies to black metal but then there are songs like "Breaking the law" & "Painkiller" by Judas Priest (Heavy metal), "Hammer smashed face" by Cannibal corpse (Death metal), and "The metal" by Tenacious D (Heavy metal) which also sound just like surf.
Nice. How's that going?
