I just don't really want to use a Microsoft account. I'm not a huge fan of the "everything connected under one account" model and to be honest it kind of creeps me out how much they push using MS accounts for their other products. Like I said, I think the fact that this is mandatory indicates that Microsoft will be getting some kind of benefit out of this.
It doesn't bother me that much but the fact that they aren't giving us a choice is annoying.
My thoughts exactly. This is them consolidating a userbase under their services.
If you believe that, then it also costs you nothing to tell us what your mojang and/or microsoft usernames and passwords are.
The worst that could happen is that somebody changes your credentials and "locks you out of a game that you bought up to 10 years ago", which you've already clarified holds no value for you. 🤨
This is an interesting comparison. I hadn't considered the similarities between the two scenarios. Having your account stolen, and being locked out because you refuse to use a microsoft account both ultimately end with you losing access to the game you paid for.
It perfectly fits into what upsets me about this change: The concept of ownership is being done away with.
The first gaming console I ever owned is still somewhere around my house. It's still entirely mine and I can play any of the games I purchased for it whenever I want.
I remember the moment I finally bought Minecraft for myself. I was very happy to finally have a copy that I myself had paid for. I always thought of it as my own. It saddens me to see that it's never really been mine and can be taken away in an instant...

You could do what I do. Build any old thing on stilts and put a farm/pen under it.

It's from BarracudaATA's Dragon Mounts mod.
I think you should consider playing it and starting a journal thread like Esper's. I've been keeping up with your update posts on here. They're pretty interesting and could do with a thread of their own IMO.

I finally got to tame my dragon!
I can die happy now.

This makes a lot of sense. I only noticed this while playing Minecraft so I attributed the overheating to the game and its issues and not the other way around. I feel like a real idiot now.
I'll be taking my PC for a checkup. Thanks for the help.
Edit: I did manage to identify two things that were accentuating the issue though. They're not the source of the problem, but they played their part.
The first were my java settings. My PC has 8 gigs of ram so I set Minecraft to use a max of 4 gigs. The remaining 4 were to be used exclusively for system operations. I read somewhere that java is a resource hog though, so I dropped that amount to 2 gigs. Surprisingly enough this made the game run a bit better.
However the bigger (and most puzzling) one was... The Growthcraft mod for 1.7.10. It's very taxing for some reason; even with no other mods running alongside it.
A real shame since I absolutely adore its wine making system and the blocks that come with it.
Just thought I'd leave that last bit of info there, in case it proves useful to anyone.

Well I experience the following:
- Frame drops (35-45 in the worst of cases) Down from the usual ~60 FPS.
- Even with no mods installed and the game running at 100+ FPS everything is slow... Somehow.
The camera movements are slower than usual. Sometimes it takes a bit to catch up with my mouse movements. There's also a slight delay when dragging item stacks across a crafting table, and if I click around too fast when moving stuff around my inventory there'll be times when it won't register the clicks to pick things up/put them down. Sorry if I'm not making much sense here. I don't really know how I can explain myself any better.
- Lastly: My laptop overheats a ton. Feels like I could fry an egg on it.
Two weeks ago everything was working fine though, so I don't think it's my PC specs causing the problems. I also doubt it's due to stuff like viruses or malware. The only browsing I've done on this computer has been to download a few minecraft mods.
I'm just very, very confused about all this.

Creepers and Wither Skeletons.
As an overly cautious player I tend to steer clear of most dangers, but since I listen to music while playing I can never hear those two coming.
Shot by a skeleton? Here comes a second skeleton. All of a sudden you're being tossed around like a ping-pong ball.
Say, are we allowed to post in your journal thread? I've kinda been wanting to but was worried that it'd ruin the flow of it. I also didn't know if you'd mind.

You could try building an island fortress with at least 3 towers, a keep, a barracks, an armory and a port. Maybe a treasure room too.

Hi, all.
The game hasn't been performing all that well for me lately. Everything seemed to work just fine not that long ago, so I have no idea what the problem might be.
I've tried deleting my .minecraft folder and then running the game with nothing more than Forge, Optifine, Fastcraft and BetterFPS installed (Stuff that wouldn't cause any issues in the past) but still experience some significant lag. The performance drop isn't very noticeable until I start building. The more I alter my surroundings, the worse things get.
Anyway, I've generated a log file and copied all the errors: http://paste.ubuntu.com/24474473/
I added the following mods when generating the log file (To be more thorough):
1.7.10 - BetterFps
1.7.10 - CocoaCraft
1.7.10 - Code Chicken Core
1.7.10 - Enchanting Plus
1.7.10 - Experience Ore
1.7.10 - FastCraft
1.7.10 - GrowthCraft Edited
1.7.10 - Little Maid Mob Enhanced
1.7.10 - Llibrary
1.7.10 - MC+ ModPack - v3
1.7.10 - More Bows1.7.10 - More Crafting Recipes
1.7.10 - Not Enough Items
1.7.10 - OptiFine
1.7.10 - Oreganics
Would somebody please explain all this to me? I'm very lost here.
P.S.
Dunno if this will be of any help, but here's some additional info:
I am using Minecraft version 1.7.10 and running the latest releases of Forge and Optifine.
My operating system is Windows 7 (x64) and have only one version of Java installed (jre1.8.0_131)

For example: What if I want cows to spawn instead of horses? Is there a way?

What kind of mods will you be making?
I use 1.7.10 because it is where most of my favorite mods converge. Some will have releases for 1.8.9, 1.9.4, 1.10.2, etc, but 1.7.10 is the version that brings them all together.
I'd probably start using a newer version if it had enough decent mods to replace my current ones though.

This mod looks like it's tons of fun, even without the newer updates.

Hi, all!
I'm playing on the latest 1.7.10 version and can't find a way to disable mob griefing in the config files. Is there a way to stop certain creatures from destroying blocks without using the mob griefing command?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find an appropriate answer on google.

Sorry about the late reply. Thank you all for your awesome suggestions!
The Brothers at war game sounds awesome. Sadly, none of my friends or relatives play Minecraft anymore. I'd have to find someone to do this with.
I've been playing around with Colour your world. The start's kinda rough but I've been having fun with it so far.
I'm also gonna start a separate world and use the Impractical storage mod there. The added risk looks like it'll be fun.
The iron tool challenge sounds interesting. I never knew you could make Nether portals without diamonds (For obsidian) until I looked up this idea.
Thanks again, guys!

Hi, all!
I recently accomplished all of the goals I'd set for myself in my current world. I wanna start a new one and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to keep the game interesting.
I'd like to know what Challenges, Mods, Texture packs, etc, you guys find the most fun.
Anything goes, but if possible I'd like to play a Modpack centered around the use of companions (I mostly play by myself so those are always nice to have around). I'm also a big fan of magic and scary(ish) stuff. I'm currently learning AbyssalCraft and Blood Magic, and my latest world was played with the Witchery mod. Anything similar to those three would be great.
Giant monsters mods also something I'd like to try out.
Anyway, I know this request is a little vague. If you can't think of a specific suggestion to make you can always tell me what you enjoy doing in your Minecraft worlds. Maybe I can grab some ideas from there.
Thanks in advance. Happy gaming!
P.S.
Do you guys know any good health indicator mods? I've been trying to find one that is extremely simple.
Most mods come with fancy GUI's, little mob portraits, source mod info, the mob's zodiac sign & hobbies, etc. All I want is an HP bar.
I've used Life Gauge forever now, but the little boxes that give away all the nearby mob's locations have always killed the excitement for me.
