I just don't really want to use a Microsoft account. I'm not a huge fan of the "everything connected under one account" model and to be honest it kind of creeps me out how much they push using MS accounts for their other products. Like I said, I think the fact that this is mandatory indicates that Microsoft will be getting some kind of benefit out of this.
It doesn't bother me that much but the fact that they aren't giving us a choice is annoying.
My thoughts exactly. This is them consolidating a userbase under their services.
If you believe that, then it also costs you nothing to tell us what your mojang and/or microsoft usernames and passwords are.
The worst that could happen is that somebody changes your credentials and "locks you out of a game that you bought up to 10 years ago", which you've already clarified holds no value for you. 🤨
This is an interesting comparison. I hadn't considered the similarities between the two scenarios. Having your account stolen, and being locked out because you refuse to use a microsoft account both ultimately end with you losing access to the game you paid for.
It perfectly fits into what upsets me about this change: The concept of ownership is being done away with.
The first gaming console I ever owned is still somewhere around my house. It's still entirely mine and I can play any of the games I purchased for it whenever I want.
I remember the moment I finally bought Minecraft for myself. I was very happy to finally have a copy that I myself had paid for. I always thought of it as my own. It saddens me to see that it's never really been mine and can be taken away in an instant...

Have you done any work on the city? I'm curious to see how it'll turn out.
I'd like to suggest a name but I don't know what theme you have in mind.

Been having it since I was a kid.
I don't think it has any effect on me.

"When lost, stay put" I guess...
Sure hope they sell some good food around here though...

According to the wiki you can escape them by exiting their 40 block pursuit radius and staying there for 40 seconds.

I'm not a fan of AFK fishing, but as GeoFor says it's a very simple way to get xp while gathering some potentially good stuff along the way.
If you want something faster and more active though, an easy farm I like to make is a 2x6 hole surrounded by trap doors in the nether. All you have to do is wall off the back and make a way to get down to the landing area.
After that herding Zombie pigmen is easy enough and you can earn some good xp quickly.
Another reason to make a zombie pig farm is that you can gather gold to use in the villager curing process.
Once their prices drop low enough you can buy bookcases from librarians at the cost 1 emerald and then sell back the books. You can generate some ridiculous amounts of xp this way.
Villager trading is how I repair my mending tools.
P.S.
If you do build a zombie pig farm make sure to place lower slabs around the killing area so they do not spawn on it.

My bad. I thought you were asking if professions had an effect on breeding.

I do the same thing as arutr and make my way to level 12.
There's no guarantee that you'll find iron quickly, but if you look around long enough you're bound to hit something eventually.
During one unlucky expedition I spent well over an hour without finding any iron. However, I did find two diamond clusters that I was later able to mine.

Potions of slow falling.
You can casually stroll at any height. All you'll be risking is the slight inconvenience of making your way back up if you fall.

What's in your treasure box?

I'd say sharpness. You won't be damaging undead mobs as much but it's still an improvement. Plus it'll help you deal with nuisances like creepers, blazes, and the odd enderman more easily.
Personally I'd only ever take smite if I already had a sharpness sword available but wanted something to make the wither fight a bit easier.

That's some interesting info. The 2% generation rate explains why I'd never seen one before.
The only update left to make of that world is that it is now gone. I got a shiny looting sword early on and used it to rush to the end. The credits rolled and that was it for that save.
However, I've been having a lot of fun learning about some of the new game features in my latest world.
I built a villager breeder that works using the new mechanics
I made an iron farm that is extremely simplistic when compared to those of past Minecraft versions but produces some insane amounts of iron.
I also built a redstone contraption that facilitates the conversion of villagers into zombie villagers for trading discounts.

Now I'm thinking about deleting this world soon and seeing how fast I can achieve all of this in my next run.
I'd like to write up a thread about my experiences learning these bits of the game and how the recent changes have made some things more enjoyable for me and some others less so. Although it'll probably take me a while since I struggle to express my thoughts in english, and also suck at writing in general.
You are a madman! Raiding an end city in Hardcore difficulty sounds like some nerve-wrecking form of torture. I don't understand how you can willingly subject yourself to that level of stress.
Edit: I just realized that versions 1.13 and onwards will potentially ruin these thrills for you as well. :\

There's another method that works wonderously. If done enough times it can lower the cost of even the most expensive item down to 1 emerald.
...It's somewhat cruel though...
You have to let your villagers be turned into zombies and then cure them to get discounts.
Here's my survival world's trading hall.
This is Bub
He lives in a corridor behind my villager stands.
Every now and then I lower a villager for him to munch on.
I am always prepared to cure them however, and In return they give me awesome discounts!
All you really need is a way to reliably turn your villagers into zombies (Only do this in HARD difficulty!) but I'd suggest using LogicalGeekBoy's trading hall design Here's his video-guide in case you're interested:

Are you near an Ocean Monument? A sound just like the one you described plays when you approach one and get the mining fatigue debuff.
